2 The Grand Debate and Friendships Blossoming

"In all of Glory city and it's history Lord Ye Mo was and still is the only one to rise to such heights" said Teacher Xui.

"But didn't you say it was impossible for a commoner to rise teacher Xui?" asked Nie Lie.

I reply in her stead "Again my apologies Teacher Xui. Teacher Xui said 'by our selves' meaning so long as we serve we can climb or am I wrong Nie Lie?"

"You are not wrong uh?"

"Ye Xing."

'Who are you Ye Xing? Why do you keep fighting me? Why weren't you like this in my last life?'

Nie Lie was confused as to why so many things were different from his last life. From Shen Xui's speech to Ye Xing's constant rebuttal. Things were not going his way but still he is determined to be remembered to the hearts and minds of those present even if not to the extent he was hoping for.

"As I was saying Lord Ye Mo is the perfect example of a commoner rising from nothing to becoming one of the greatest people in the city. He proves that regardless of origin, potential is endless so long as you work hard and are willing to make the climb."

"Well Lord Ye Mo is a descendant of a family that had an entire Empire and Era named after them so, even with his blood as diluted as it is, the potential locked away would have seen his family rise again even if not in him then somebody in the future" I said trying to dissuade him from his reckless taunting. Where is the 300 hundred year old cultivator? All I see is a teen looking for attention and I can say so seeing as I am doing the same thing.

"Nie Lie right? let's see... ah an aristocrat with a red soul sea and 5 soul force. You will at most be a bronze rank fighter, becoming a demon spiritualist is simply impossible for you" Teacher Xui said with a vindictive undertone heard by all.

"You believe ones soul sea determines ones abilities? With such a despicable character you will only defend the gifted and mock the weak, many of the commoners in this class will exceed your imagination and acquire achievements beyond your imagination. It's true my soul sea is nothing compared to many of the commoners in this class but one day I will become a legend rank demon spiritualist and marry the most beautiful woman in Glory city!"

"Hahahaha, This is the funniest joke I've ever heard. Lord Ye Mo at a young age had proven to have a Cyan soul sea and you wish to rely on luck alone? You are beyond ridiculous."

"I know your heart is full of contempt but aptitude cannot determine your achievements! The weak challenge the strong to overcome the heavens. Everyone of the students are shocked and amazed at what Nie Lie had to say to the teachers face without wavering in the slightest. Their combined awe would double from what he had to say next.

"How about we have a bet teacher Xui?"

"What bet?"

Her annoyance reaching peak levels was open for all to see at this point.

"We will bet that I will reach 1-star bronze rank demon spiritualist in the exam two months from know. If I fail I will drop out of school but if I win you must resign. How about it?"

'The balls on this guy' is all I can think about. Like who in their right mind challenges their teacher to a bet, I know he was the advantage but nonetheless, its ballsy.

In contempt she replies "Do you really think you can raise your soul force from 5 to 100 in two months?"

"Still do you dare or not?"

"Since that's the case why would I not dare? I don't believe a brat with a big mouth like you can achieve anything, who do you think you are? Since you think you are such a big shot and that you can disrespect a teacher like that you can stand at the back of the class for the next two months."

"Since Teacher Xui agreed to the bet you better not regret it later."

Everyone starts joking on how 'the next legend rank' just got punished. I myself stand up and walk to the very back of the class to join him. He may have become an idiot but he has the knowledge to succeed and I need that knowledge. I walk up to him and stick my hand out for a handshake.

"Apologies for earlier, I used to debate with my gramps when he was alive and I couldn't help myself when a debate is put on the table much less when my opponent can think of a come back on the spot at such speed. I hope bygones can be bygones."

Nie Lie sizes me up for a moment but nonetheless shakes my hand.

"No hard feelings amongst friends right?" he asks with a smile.

"Friends it is then."

Du Ze and the gang stand up to join us at the back much to the teachers dismay.

"On to the rest of the class. Lets see everyone's results. Ye Zi Zun, Cyan Soul sea, 86 soul force."

"Shen Yue, Green soul sea, 78 soul force."

"Xiao Ning'er, Green soul sea, 78 soul force."

"These are true talents who both I and the Holy Orchid Institute hope will achieve 1-star Bronze rank."

"Now on to the rest."

"We just need lots of money and then we all can become demons spiritualists."

Silence descends amongst the group before Du Ze asked "How do you have so much money?"

I saved where ever I could so I could go to a school but I got a scholarship with my Orange soul sea and 34 soul force."

"We are going to need millions if not tens of millions of demon spirit coins if we're going to succeed" said Nie Lie causing silence to descend once more at the absurdity of the amounts of money needed.

"I'm not surprised seeing as we are basically going from nothing to the top so this shouldn't come as a surprise to you guys" I said.
