8 Chapter 8: The Day of True Change

A few days had gone by since the first breakfast and it had been Ye Xiao happiest days of his life since his 'old life'. However today would be different as when Shen Xui entered the class she told Nie Lie, Ye Xing and the gang that they shall stay seated for todays class.

"Quiet! Quiet! Can everybody here me?"

"Yes Teacher Xui!" most of the teens responded.

"Good. Today we will be talking about inscriptions. It doesn't matter if you are a fighter or a demon spiritualist inscriptions are important! Inscriptions can be divided into 2 categories and those are Battle Inscriptions and Device Inscriptions."

Soon after she paused to let the students jot down notes and for a breather.

"Device inscriptions can be imbedded onto armour and it will greatly increase a fighters prowess. This is especially true for demon spiritualist as using High-grade inscriptions can allow them to exhibit power far beyond their limits!"

"Battle inscriptions are inscribed onto a scroll and with a small amount of soul force it can generate a variety of explosive combat powers. Inscriptions are the accumulation of the ancestors wisdom but in these dark ages Glory City has inherited but a small fraction of that knowledge."

"Inscriptions are categorised into 3 types. Those 3 types are Feng Xue, Saint Fire and Battle Edge inscriptions. The difference is in the nature of the inscriptions and they are Snow-Wind, Fire and Non-Elemental."

Shen Xui goes on to explain more about device inscriptions. Her knowledge and teaching skill was above many of her co-workers and this pleased the interviewers at the back of the class.

"Descendants of the Sacred family possess quite profound knowledge and her teaching is very good!" spoke the institutes Vice-Principle Ye Sheng.

"There is quite a few good students here like Ye Zi Yun, Xiao Ning'er and Shen Yue" spoke Professor Lu Ye.

"What's your opinion?" asked the Vice-Principle Ye Sheng to his guest sitting to his right.

"En."

His lacklustre response was causing the Vice-Principle some dismay and it begged the question of his identity.

'What is this Elder's identity? Acting so indifferent to the Vice-Principle, can it be that he is a VIP even higher than the Principle?' thought the Professor.

"Now we will move onto the Saint-Fire inscriptions which my Sacred family is considered to be the leader. There is a total of 66 basic inscriptions in this category, for example this 'Red Blaze Scorching Explosion' inscription."

"This is inscription was created by the first generation of the Sacred family and is the most powerful of the Bronze rank inscriptions. This inscription is formulated by the 36 basic foundation inscription. It is one of the most complex inscription among the Bronze rank inscription. Next we will talk about the 36 basic foundation inscription."

While Shen Xui prattles on about the inscription and how great her family is for creating it Nie Lie yawns openly before rest his head much to the displeasure of Shen Xui and the quests at the back of the class. His nap however doesn't last long as Shen Xui shouts aloud his name to wake Nie Lie up.

Nie Lie responds with "What do you want?"

Furiously Shen Xui storms up the walk way until she is standing next to his desk. Bending over she shouts "You actually dare to sleep in my class! Do you understand everything on the board already?"

While she was doing this I take a moment to admire her body, especially her protruding ass and bountiful bust. T'was heaven for a time until I remember her personality and I stop admiring her body.

Nie Lie ever antagonising her replies "Yes." Dull and simple yet very insulting for a teacher.

"Fine tell me about thus inscription here!" Shen Xui shouts angrily.

"This is a low-grade fire class inscription that can reluctantly be called a Bronze rank inscription. Formed from the 38 methods foundation inscription, it's power is very low and can be used to boil water."

Nie Lie's reply caused the class to burst out in laughter and joke that he didn't listen to Shen Xui's lecture at all. However the Vice-Principle seamed to realise that what Nie Lie said is correct and saying that both methods, 36 and 38, are similar but what Nie Lie said is more factually correct.

Nie Lie prattles on endlessly about the inscriptions origins and that at most it can be used for practice. Nie Lie further insults her as a teacher before a student takes out the 'Lightning Fire Holy scripture' book and directs Yuan Jiao to volume 7, page 30, diagram 6.

While everyone is piling around the book and comparing it to the inscription on the board. They soon realise what Nie Lie said is true and Shen Xui to knows it to be true as well. Insults are traded back and forth with threats thrown in on the sly so no commoner will realise what Shen Yue truly meant.

In the library Nie Lie accepted the Deacon position and we were all discussing about said topic but Nie Lie changed the topic by suggesting we all skip school for a few days. He brought out 6 unused Soul Crystals so he could test the nature of our soul seas.

"Didn't we do such a test already?" Du Ze questioned.

Nie Lie replied "My test is different. An unused Soul Crystal is the most sensitive. If used to test a persons soul sea it will be extremely accurate!"

If more than one person uses a soul crystal it will suffer from interference and can from then on only be used to test a persons soul sea grade and soul force.

"OK then what else can you test for?"

"A soul's form and attribute."

Nie Lie's reply to Lu Piao left almost everyone stunned as they have never heard of such things before.

"I too can read the ancient scriptures and they do reference testing ones soul form and attribute so he is speaking the truth" I said trying to convince them to go along as I have for the past 2-3 days talking in class with Xiao Ning'er on such topics so it's fairly well known I speak the Snow-Wind language and Woodland language.

"Here everyone take a soul crystal and keep it close to your body. These crystals can be used for soul force below 500 points, above that one needs an intermediate soul crystal."

After awhile Du Ze is the first to show his soul power.

"Du Ze you've improved very quickly, already at 52 soul force!"

There is little to no change in the soul forms and attributes until it's my turn next. I flow my soul force through the crystal and it turns into a swirling mass of black clouds with red lightning streaking across the crystal every now and then.

"... 82 soul force...Green Soul Sea."

Silence descends upon those gathered around me, for good reason at that as I have more soul force than those from 2 of the greatest families in Glory city.

"What is my soul form Nie Lie?"

'And why is my soul sea Green not orange?'

"... Abyssal-Storm soul form with Abyssal-Hell-Lightning attribute."

"Is that good or...?"

"It's complicated."

"Complicated how?"

"The Abyssal-Storm soul form is rare and dangerous. If your mind, body and soul are misaligned your soul will collapse on it self. I have 2 techniques for you to use but you need to choose. The first is 'Abyssal Gods Scripture' which is of a lower grade among the 2 but it's easier to train in while also allowing you to have a strong physique. Second is 'Abyssal Heart scripture' which is the higher grade technique but it's slower to train and harder to maintain a balance but in exchange your soul will grow stronger the more you meditate and your physique will become immune to 'dark' techniques over time."

I take a few moments to contemplate on if I would rather play the long game or go for short-term benefits. Speed or Quality? That is the question and I have decided that seeing as Nie Lie went for a slower but more powerful technique then I will trust him and do the same.

"I choose the 'Abyssal Heart Scripture' technique."

"Okay then."

After teaching me the technique I jot down the verses before asking him for a favour.

"Nie Lie you know that Miss Xiao Ning'er and myself have gotten really close as of late."

With a smirk Nie Lie replies "I and everybody else on the school grounds."

"Yeah well she has the Winged-Dragon soul form with Wind-Lightning soul attribute and I was wondering if you could give me the 'Lightning Dragon Chant' as all the other techniques I have can't compare and I only have the first 2 verses myself."

For a moment I see fear and hesitation. He must be afraid that I know things about him but he soon dismisses his assumption, he shouldn't have, but asks "What make you think I know that technique?"

"You knew the 'Chaos Spirit Technique' and if you know such a technique I decided to take a gamble because if I know the first 2 verses then surely, you who knows more than I, have the whole chant."

He takes a moment to think presumably about if he should give me the chant but nevertheless he gave me the whole chant. I write it all down for later and then we all get to meditating. For the next 3 days we all stayed in the library to meditate and only left for food and to clean up. At least they did but since I was so far ahead I decided to go to Xiao Ning'er in the training grounds at night where we had been meeting since our first meeting per her request and I would spend 4 hours a day to make various scrolls and sell them in markets all over the inner city.
