Chapter - 44
Next morning I got ten minutes late to reach the university, the moment I entered in the room, lecturer also entered same time. I quickly scanned the room to see where Asher is sitting because she probably has saved a seat for me but what I see surprised and shocked me...
she has kept a seat vacant for me which is in the extreme left corner, then she is sitting on the beside chair, Carissa is sitting beside her and they both are talking to each other in a way as if they know each others for years. And there is another seat beside her which is occupied by Michiko who has a scowl on her face.
Well, it took me almost twenty seconds to see all of this, thankfully they don't look up at me and remain occupied with their works. I quickly move towards the last row, sit on one of the seats and while I am settling down the lecturer start taking the attendance. As soon as my name come from her mouth, I almost shout out...
Lecturer: (Read my name from the register then look up in the whole class) Siya Rai.
Me: (Raising my hand up) Yes.
The lecturer nodded her head slightly, then she continue with start taking remaining of the attendance. While she is doing that, I see Asher turning back, then she look at me for brief some thirty to forty seconds with a raised eyebrow, I too raised my brows in confusion. However, without saying anything she turn to her previous position and I too look down in my book and start drawing some random patterns on it but a sudden vibration of my phone forced me too stop doing it.
I unlock the screen of the phone then read the notification, which says it Asher's message,
Asher: Why are you sitting there, I have a seat vacant for you here beside me.
Me: When I entered the class same time lecturer too and to sit on that vacant seat I have to make all three of you stand. For that I don't have enough time so, I choose to sit here.
Inside my head, I am like wow, finally you got the time to notice even I am present or not? Or why I am sitting here? Well, congratulations for your new friendship, I hope you are enjoying it.
Asher: So what, lecturer won't have said anything if you have done it.
Me: Hmm okay
Asher: What okay come now, sit with us.
Me: Chill bro I am fine here no need to worry.
Inside my head, no I am not at all fine because sitting here alone I am feeling lonely don't know why? But do you really care because just in a day you have got a new friend for yourself?
Rather than doing any other message, she turn back again looking at me with puppy face so, I melt down and come in front to sit beside her but I mouthed 'later.' Soon after this lecturer start teaching us but like as usual I zone out and start having my own conversation with my mind.
Mind: (With raised eye brows) Bro, why the hell are you getting jealous?
Me: (Chuckling lightly) jealous and me what a joke? Why I would be jealous?
Mind: (Sarcastic laugh) O really!! what an act?
Me: (Seriously) Look I am not being jealous, it just till yesterday she was either beside me or in front of me, but today suddenly she started talking to that girl so much that she didn't even know that I was there.
Mind: (Shrugging his shoulders) Look bro, it is also possible that the girl started talking to Asher at the same time you entered the class. Remember what Vihaa said, we should never judge anyone without thinking and here you are thinking all this in anger.
Me: (Pressing my forehead in reality) Yeah I know but you know it happens some times.
Mind: (Nodding head in understanding) Yeah I can understand. Though, I also know that usually people are like this, I mean they will be with you or support you for some time/moments but once when they see that they are not having any kind of personal gain while being with you then they will take a step back and leave you.
Me: I know and honestly this can be really scary.
Mind: Yes but what we can do, this is how life is.
Just like this whole lecture got over I keep talking to my mind, when the bell ring telling the lecture got over my trance break. I pick up my books and keep them back in the bag then, while closing the zip of the bag I move forward towards the door of the room only to find Asher waiting for me there. Soon we move out of the room, without speaking about anything we start walking towards our next lecture and this is what I like the most about her that she doesn't hover, she knows when to talk and when to not.
After the morning incident, she stay close to me or should I say clingy. I mean she doesn't leave a chance for me to be stay alone and even if she talks to other students she make sure whether I am beside her or not which somewhat irritated me because I am someone who like to give space plus love my personal space but I choose not complain back or show her. Though, Michiko and Carissa sometime go their own ways but Asher doesn't. Just like this first half got over, together we four move inside the canteen to have our lunches.
As usual we three open our lunch boxes which we brought from our homes and Carissa goes to order her lunch. The moment she walk out of table, for the first time I heard Michiko's voice...
Michiko: (Calm yet taunting voice) Someone is being friends' with the new girl that too just in a day wow.
Inside my head, the thing which I was dreading to ask. She finally asked it, does this affected her too?
Asher: Nothing like that, it just she has something important to talk about and I just talked with her.
Michiko: (Raised eyebrows) What was that talk?
Asher: She asked will I like to shift with her in room more like sharing a room with her because we both come from very far.
Michiko: Ohhh okay but I don't think so its a good option because I don't think she is good for you.
Asher: I know she is different but may be we can be friends with her too.
Michiko: Hmm okay
Inside my head, even a blind can tell that Michiko is not okay with her this decision but she choose not to force her decision Asher. And what Michiko said I don't' think its wrong because both Carissa and Asher have complete opposite personalities, I guess together they will not survive positively and one of them will surely suffer emotionally. I think that one will be Asher only.
Soon Carissa too joined us with her lunch, we continued to eat our lunch in complete silence. After around fifty minutes the bell ring letting us know the time for our next lecture. We move out of the canteen together and start attending the rest of the lectures. Today for a change all of the lectures got over by three in the evening. While all of the students start leaving for there homes, choose to stay in the university because I don't want to go home early.
After packing my bag I move out of the rooms and start walking towards my peaceful escape but hearing Asher voice behind me I stop walking. I turn back and look at her...
Asher: Siya!
Me: Yes.
Asher: Where are you going?
Me: To the library, I have some work to do.
Asher: (Hesitantly) Umm can I join you?
Me: Yeah okay.
Together we walk inside the the library, as soon as we got settled down there she initiated the conversation...
Asher: (Nervously) Can I ask you something?
Me: (Confused) Yeah go ahead.
Asher: (Eyes filled with hope and concern) Am I doing the right thing, in case of Carissa?
Me: (Pointing my right hand forefinger where her heart is) If it feels right here then you are doing the right thing surely. And whatever is your final decision will, just know I am here for you.
Asher: (Smiling brightly) Okay and thank you, you are such a good person with pure heart.
Me: Ohh okay, anytime.
Inside my head, it seems my this goodness is so, much liked by others that they took advantage of my this goodness.
After this we start completing our assignments till five in the evening, however, soon we hear her phone ringing. She answered on the second ring...
Asher: Hello, mom.
Asher: Don't worry I am in the university, doing some work in library with Siya. Will be leaving now only. Hmmm okay bye see you soon.
She hang up her phone then look at me,
Asher: Are we leaving now?
Me: Yeah.
Once we finished collecting our assignment sheets we move out the library, then we move out of the library. After packing our bags we move out of the university, soon we bid out good bye's to each other start moving our houses.
Around six fifteen I reach back home all exhausted mentally as well as physically and start getting fresh. Once getting fresh I wear casual t-shirt and lower, walk out of the room towards the kitchen to prepare a cup of coffee for myself. While I am making the coffee, I hear my phone ringing so, I take it out from my pocket and answered the call...
Me: Hello
Vihaa: Hey kiddo, see you in five minutes in the park I hope you are free?
Me: Yeah, I am just making my coffee.
Vihaa: O that's great even I am too coming out with my coffee in disposable cup, you do same too.
Me: Okay see you in five minutes.
Hearing this she hang up the call, after making my coffee and covering it with tissue I inform mother about the meeting with Vihaa I walk outside of the house. After a minute or two we both are sitting in the parking sipping our coffee in perfect silence and it feels so much peaceful. However, this peaceful moment doesn't stays for long as she initiated conversation....
Vihaa: (With a serious face) I want to tell you something.
Me: (Seriously) Yeah say.
