Tales of an Otherworlder

As the school building was burning down, Winsor couldn't help but think back on how everything went wrong. It was during the last lesson when a sudden quake hit the school and the labs exploded into flames. His last class was not so far from them and they quickly tried to evacuate as the school manual said when the guys he thought to be his best friend suddenly tripped his foot. Everyone was panicking and they were too scared for their lives with all the smoke and flames spreading to notice one of the average kids fall amidst the chaos. He sprained his foot and failed to stand up immediately. "Flock, the hell? Its not time for this, help me up!" "Tsch," Flock said as he scornfully looked down at Win and proceeded to throw his heavy bag at his head and knocked him out. After that, he couldn't remember much and woke up to the whole room ablaze and the room filled with toxic black smoke. Due to his coughing, he couldn't tell if it was him or the building that was shaking violently. In his coughing fit, he didn't realize the roof cracking and falling down towards him. It was at that moment that a floating screen showed up in front of him, --- Welcome to the magical world of Ornia --- Crash!

A cool breeze came through the window and hit the still unconscious Winsor who had been laid in his bed. He had been there for over week already but still hadn't woken up.

One of the servants came in everyday to clean the room and today wasn't any different. It was the same unlucky fellow that was supposed to lead Winsor to the Earl that evening when he awakened.

Since he failed to do his task, he had to go to the cells that night and get punished by Ruford. He absolutely hated Winsor for it so the fact they made him care for the little boy made him livid.

That said he couldn't really do anything about his anger. Winsor was a guest in the manor and injuring or messing with him would have gotten him into even more trouble.

Winsor's little adventure had ended up hitting two birds with one stone and he didn't even know about it. He got to know the layout of parts of the manor and also got revenge on the butler that was rude.

As the butler was still cleaning, Winsor began to stir in his bed and finally woke up after being asleep for 8 days! The butler didn't notice this and continued to what he was doing. That was until he heard a tired but still angry voice from behind him.

"The hell are you doing back here?" Winsor asked tiredly but still with a hint of anger. He was sore all over his body and still felt a bit sleepy but he still managed to recognise the rude guy that was messing with his room.

"Ah look who's finally awake, little rat." The butler responded with spite in his voice. "Do you know what kind of trouble you got me into last week," he added with a glare.

"Me? How did I possibly get you into trouble?? I got here yesterday." Winsor responded with and equally hateful look.

"I was supposed to take you to Ruford that evening you met with the lord! You and your barbarism started wandering around the manor so I was blamed," the butler spat back. "Whatever the lord did to you made you pass out for 8 days and honestly, I was hoping you'd just die." he added with a dissapointed tone.

Winsor was about to retort again but stopped as he finally realised that he was unconscious for over a week. This was his first time being unconscious due to anything other than sleep. It also explained the soreness he felt all over his body.

Seeing as Winsor wasn't going to respond, the butler decided to just leave the room. He had to tell Ruford that the boy had woken up as per the instructions he was given.

"Well, now that your alive, get ready and find the training grounds. You'll meet Ruford there." the butler said as he left the room. This time he didn't slam the door but left it wide open.

Winsor was too tired to care so he took a deep breath and got out of his bed. He decided that complaining with the hopeless guy would get him no where and started doing some stretches. As he was stretching, two screens suddenly appeared in front of him

=========

World system going into hibernation

Entity has awoken to mana

Starting up [The System]

Good-bye

==========

[Welcome to the system!]

The two screens looked entirely different and gave different auras. The one called the world system gave off a more ... divine feeling, as though it was so advanced that he shouldn't really be seeing it. The second one was more relaxed but still pretty impressive.

[Choose your class]

-Warrior

-Mage

-Crafter

============

Another screen showed up after the first two disappeared. He thought of choosing a mage class but then looked over and saw the warrior and crafter classes. He didn't want to be a crafter since he wanted to be able to protect himself.

He knew that there should have been some kind of bonuses given to warrior and mage classes considering what they are for. Maybe Warriors gained some extra strength while mages extra mana but the point is, they would be able to overpower any crafter when it came to a fight.

He also thought of maybe crafting his weapons. He had earth knowledge and was often called smart back home so maybe he could make some kind of device like a gun or something.

"No, this is a different world. There are already people of different races and magic, what says that science would stay the same here?" He asked himself logically. That, plus the fact he would have to buy the materials to make any weapon made the option of being a crafter less than attractive.

"Hmm what of a warrior? Can some of them use stealth? What about archers? Why is it just these three?" he asked as he shifted his focus onto the first option.

There was a lot unsaid about the first option and it seemed to encompass a very large group of other sub-classes. Maybe this meant that he would get a larger bonus at the beginning than becoming a mage.

He may get enhancements to his body and endurance along with some ranged abilities for archers if he chose the the warrior class. This compared to being a mage who would get no close range buffs made becoming a Warrior the best choice.

"Hmm, so it's decided. I will become a Warrior."

[Your have selected warrior]

[Adjusting stats]

[Name: Keith Winsor]

[hp: 24/24]

[stamina: 20/20]

[MP: 6/6]

[Stats]

[Strength:8]

[Agility:8]

[Endurance:10]

[Mana:3]

[Skills : Blade mastery(lv0)]

[Affinities: Shadow(lv0), Wind(lv0)]

[You can access this screen with the basic spell: self appraisal]

Winsor took a moment to process what he was seeing. He was not sure if having a strength of 8 or magic power of 6 was good since his mana was way lower in comparison to all other stats.

He was guessing either his mana stat was an outlier or maybe it was his stats that were just way too good. As he was thinking about this another screen showed up.

[Due to an alternative awakening, you have gained:]

[Fire resistance(lv1) Fire control(lv1) Fire affinity()]

[+1 to stamina scaling. New Stamina: 20/30 ]

He was happy to get an extra affinity and resistance but the additional point to scaling was what made him truly excited. That meant that he had much more stamina when compared to someone else of his level.

"Winsorrrrrrr!" a yell came from outside the open door of Winsor's room pulling out of his thoughts. He was wondering who would be bold enough to shout that loud in the lord's manor but all those questions disappeared when he saw who was at the door.

"You're alive! Thank goodness!" Lukart said as he was catching his breath at the door way. Winsor was regretting not closing his door since he was wearing pretty loose clothing. He was happy it was another guy in his room otherwise he would have been very embarrassed.

"Hello Master Lukart. Luckily I'm feeling great." Winsor replied politely as he finally stopped stretching his lazy body.

"Great news, but I have an important question." Lukart said while closing the door. He sounded joyful and relieved until he closed the door. Once he did, his tone changed to a serious one.

The switch was so sudden that Winsor got a bit shocked by it.

"Have you chosen your class yet?"

Sorry for taking long. I was adjusting the schedule and the main story line. I'm going to edit the previous chapters over the course of the coming weeks but it won't change the story.
