VI. Pride and Conflict

After the almost successful mission, the guild returned to the barracks outside the city of Shairum to report their findings and achievements. In the monetary system of the kingdom of dragons, a golden coin with a blue gem was considered the lowest coin in all the kingdoms, then there were the green ones that were worth ten with the blue gem, then there was the red one that was worth thirty green and fifty blue and finally, the yellow one was considered the highest of all, its value was incredible, worth one hundred red, two hundred green and three hundred blue. She felt that she had earned a pittance by almost dying in combat, she expected at least a hundred more green coins for what she and the guild achieved from her.

"How much did they give you?" The dragon asks curiously.

"Only two hundred blue coins and fifty green coins" She looks through the bag a little more in search of some red coins, but she did not find anything else.

"Do not be discouraged young warrior, remember that many comrades in arms were stolen in that mission, perhaps they are only prioritizing replacing the lost" he explained to his human companion, hoping to calm her anguish when she opened her bag and counted she saw that she received three hundred red coins, one hundred and fifty green coins, and one yellow coin.

Alexandra looks at the yellow coin, impressed that she can see one so closely.

That's a lot of money" she commented with some envy, even if the captains and sub-captains earned more than a simple warrior, the great difference between both rewards was obvious to Alexandra, To mention that even though the girl thought that the reason why they gave her so little money, seeing her superior with a better reward made her doubt that possibility.

Anyway, I only need this yellow coin for my expenses" he begins to walk inside the guild stopping in the middle of his walk "Spend that money wisely, you will not always be able to count on your mother's reputation to face expenses, so take advantage and invest that money well "the dragon leaves the human alone approving her entry into the guild with joy, she smiles at the gift of her comrade in arms; Alexandra hoped she could get along with everyone like that.

Both warriors had separated, and Drigielix went to speak with his captains to discuss some details of what had happened on the mission. Captain Kuketzi had told him that this was an important matter; that the presence of that white dragon was necessary for this meeting, Drigielix supposed that they wanted to confirm about the strange blue dragon that claimed to be a Greater Dragon. While the white dragon went to her meeting, Alexandra counted her coins thinking that she could spend them, armor or part of them was not an option for the human girl. She weapons she maybe she thought, some other objects like potions, relics, and supplies; it seemed important to her. With so much money in her possession, she could buy a lot of things.

Entering the meeting and planning room, the white dragon sees that the rest of the captains were already sitting waiting for him, three-winged dragons of different colors, two males and a female. Kuketzi shared a look of seriousness like the two male dragons; for some reason, Drigielix felt the atmosphere a little heavy inside but ignored it to concentrate on the meeting.

"Take nod sub captain Drigielix" The winged dragon of red color and scar on the left eye extends his hand in welcome to his comrade, the white dragon showing his education and respect of him sits in the available chair.

"I suppose you wish to discuss the details of the fight with the Great Dragon of the skeletons, ¿right?" affirms the white dragon, to which his three captains nod.

"Please Drigielix we need you to tell us again which part of the blue dragon and the human who fought against him" demands the winged purple dragon, he was rubbing his forehead with two of his fingers, Drigielix noticed that that dragon seemed to be a bit tense.

He directs his gaze to the purple dragon before answering.

"Well like I said before Captain Raiyut, I can't give much information about it, we fought with a Great Skeleton Dragon, his name was Ssaull and that guy almost stole my whole group, if it hadn't been for Alexandra to cast a lightning spell, even I would have lost important things "was what he declared in front of his captains.

"Still Sub Captain Drigielix" this time the red dragon takes the floor. "We do not fully understand the situation he describes" he clarifies, rising from his seat calmly "How is it that a group of dragons depends on a human to avoid being attacked?"

Drigielix reacts to the comment. The red dragon takes out a pipe that he kept in his armor.

"You will see Drigielix although you explained to us that the entrance of the human was unexpected, we accepted your request and we respected your decision when you said that it was the same Okirius who suggested its entrance" after saying that Torx lights his pipe to smoke a little, the white dragon watches his captain expecting him to continue "While we can give ourselves some latitude in treating that scaleless thing as a companion, I can honestly imagine the possibility that a level four sub captain and four-level three members were saved by the actions of a human girl, it's just impossible for me, not to mention ridiculous. " He ends up taking the red dragon back to his seat.

Drigielix could partially understand the mentality of his captain, even though he gave him slight displeasure at having been saved by a creature inferior to a dragon, despite this, the white dragon was grateful that at least said inferior creature fought bravely and fury like dragons only know how to do, she could have fled and left them to their fate, but she stayed to fight to protect her companions.

"Certainly Sub Captain Drigielix, this is a severe blow to our pride as dragons." Raiyut reaffirms "Therefore I implore you to remember well everything you did during his confrontation with Ssaull".

"I already said it before, I used my best attacks against him, it is not the first time that I have fought with the skeletons, but this dragon was not some filthy beggar. The three captains start talking to each other in front of Driguielix, this was certainly a very critical issue for them, the best guild suffered from two humiliations in that mission, and half of them were robbed as simple villagers and two the third group was saved by a mediocre human. "I bet it was Ssaull who made a mistake trying to kill the human during the fight and it was thanks to that mistake that he ruined his attempt to steal them" was what Kuketzi blurted out in front of everyone.

"Yes, maybe that skeleton dragon got so trusting or irritated because of the human girl that caused him to use the electric spell" Raiyut clarifies smiling accepting the theory of his partner as true. However, seeing how the white dragon shook his head caused the purple dragon to get upset.

The white dragon watches his three captains intently waiting for more comments on their performance or questions.

"That blue dragon was a great strategist, the way he acted and based on what was declared by the groups that were assaulted. I cannot believe that he made such mistakes." Drigielix doesn't stop looking at each one after saying that.

Kuketzi sighs annoyed for her partner, something like this was not supposed to happen to advanced members of her guild.

"I understand that you lost consciousness most of the time, right?" Drigielix confirms what the captain said "How can you guarantee that it was not how I raised it? In the end you were not aware of how everything turned out" she ends up internally begging Drigielix to shut up and accept it as truth.

Since the human girl came to the guild, it seemed that something had affected the white dragon, that he tried to defend her and recognize her achievements, it was certainly not funny for them. Kuketzi was worried about her friend, since she became captain she was giving her some advantage and support to win the favoritism of both captains. Now the white dragon hung by a thread promoting him to the captain of the best guild of all.
