The Journey Begins

Even though I got an unknown talent, I still didn't know how to use it. I am quite confused on how people use their talents.

'Lady Anne, how will I be able to use my talent?' I asked.

Lady Anne was riding her horse way ahead of the carriage I was travelling in. 

'People can use talents only when they have a grasp of what they are capable of. It comes to you naturally. Like this.' She waved her fingers towards me and a small crack opened just in front of me. A sudden wind from the crack made my hair go all crazy and it closed after that. 

'That is a small demonstration of my talent.' she said.

'So, what is your talent lady Anne?' I asked

'We don't go around talking about our talent. Gives the enemy advantage during wars. ' said lady Anne.

Yeah, that makes more sense rather than going around and shouting out your ability to others. Damn, all the mangas and novels I read on Earth really doesn't make any sense now. 

We continued on the road. Our destination was Ardrion. So, I guess it might take months for us to reach there.

Our village was a borderland between the land of the demi-humans and the Azure kingdom. Not much happens there due to the mist magic cast upon the entire village by Nebel.

Soon, a city came into my view. I could tell that the city is quite different from our Misty Valley. Huge clouds of smoke rose into the air within the city walls. 

'I guess that's where we are gonna stay today.' I said.

' What for? I have to take you to the Ardrion.' Lady Anne said.

'Well it's gonna take at least a few months to reach the Adrion by horse.' I said.

'Ahh! Don't worry about that kid. We'll be there in no time. Just sit tight and don't give us trouble.' said lady Anne.

As we got closer to the city of smokes, I was able to see how huge the city was. The gates were enormous and spanned higher into the clouds. The entrance had these huge gates which had engravings of gears on it. Although covered with soot and dust, one particular engraving stood out. It read 'Engranate'. 

'This is Engranate boy. The armory of the kingdom.' said lady Anne.

The gates of Engranate opened. It was quite the spectacular view. I thought the city would be covered in black and grey with dust and garbage all around. Quite contrary, the city was filled with color. It was totally futuristic.

The land was covered in glass which changed colors when pressure was applied. Beneath the glass was an endless dark pit. People were walking on top of it not even batting an eye to the fact that they are walking on a pit to begin with. They wore loose clothes which looked quite bigger than their size. 

The path from the gate lead straight to a castle far away. The buildings were structured in such a way that the castle was fully visible from the gate. For some odd reason, lady Anne and the rest of the soldiers waited at the entrance patiently.

Soon, a soldier stationed at the gate gave some clothes and shoes to lady Anne. 

' Change into these.' she said while handing over the clothes into my hand.

I didn't complain cause the material used in the clothes were of premium quality. I had never worn such clothes even on Earth.

I changed into them without further questions.

We had to leave our horses and the carriage behind.

'Why aren't we taking the horses with us?' I asked.

'Do you think the horses would walk on glass and that too covering a pit? The clothes that you are wearing right now are manufactured by Alonso. He is the chief weapons manufacturer of the kingdom. He is also the duke of this city.' said lady Anne.

'Well, they feel quite luxurious.' I said.

'They have a purpose boy. It is made in such a way that you won't fall into the pit.' said lady Anne.

'What do you mean by falling into the pit? It's glass everywhere. And everyone is walking on it.' I said

'That is not glass that you are walking on. You might not be able to recognize it but the glass which you think you're walking on is actually trillions of tiny gears not visible to the naked eye. And your clothes and shoes are also made of the same gears. Although not visible, they have already covered your entire body.' said lady Anne.

'Does Alonso have the talent of gears?' I asked.

'Yes. His talent is that of gears.' said lady Anne.

'Didn't you say that one should not reveal their talent to others?' I asked

'Well, Alonso reveals it cause he is one among what we call Adiantes or the strongest in Acedia. Everything in this entire city functions with Alonso's talent. Hence, this has become one of the safest place in the entire Azure kingdom.' said lady Anne.

What kind of person is this Alonso? Being so powerful to control everything in a city, that's something else.

'Will we be meeting Sir Alonso?' I asked.

'Not today kid. We have to take you to the camp in Ardrion. You'll get to meet him if you ever catch his interest. He has quite the peculiar character.' said lady Anne.

I was getting quite hungry and the smell of food from the shops were just increasing my appetite. But before I could ask about having food, lady Anne met an acquaintance of hers and they started chatting. 

Then lady Anne turned towards me and said,' Guess this is it kid. You'll be taken to the camp from here and once you arrive there, give this letter to Reggie. Hope we'll meet again kid. This is goodbye.'

She went ahead beneath a gear and the rest of the soldiers followed her. The gear started turning and a white flash hit them. After the flash, both lady Anne and her soldiers vanished into thin air.

IS THIS TELEPORTATION?

So, Sir Alonso is also able to transport people from one place to another? This is a cheat among cheats. I wonder if my talent could ever do that.

'Step under the gear kid.' said lady Anne's acquaintance.

I stepped under the gear and it started turning. A white flash appeared and I was off to Ardrion.
