Chapter 6 – Four Pillars of Destiny

Lee Yeon crosses the bridge of fabric drapes. Nam Ji Ah says she was looking for him. Lee Yeon is mesmerized. Then he grabs her and kisses her. Ji Ah's eyes widen in shock. Then she closes her eyes and enjoys the moment and the kiss. She steps back and asks if Lee Yeon kissed her to A Eum. When he doesn't answer, she knows he kissed A Eum. She says she's not the shadow of his first love. She tells him to make up his mind. Either he spends time with her or he clings to his past. She knows she isn't unpleasing to look at. They both smile.

Even though that was a choreographed scene, the element of honesty when she asked him to see her resonated.

....

At the office, coworkers Kim Sae Rom and Pyo Jae Hwan text Ji Ah and wonder who was the man that dragged her willing body away. Sae Rom notes that Ji Ah has bad luck with relationships.

Lee Yeon and Ji Ah stroll through the woods. He finds her nervous lack of eye contact adorable. She tells him there is such a thing as too much eye contact. She strides away chiding herself for asking that he really look and see her.

Jae Hwan believes he's seen the man's face before. Their boss tells them to return to work. He can't help but comment on Ji Ah's man too.

Lee Yeon says he is searching for the governor who should know who took her parents. That gets Ji Ah's attention. The governor is a mountain spirit, though not as powerful as Lee Yeon was. He suggests they enjoy himself and the governor will find them. As they walk many eyes follow.

They visit the fortune teller. Ji Ah wants to know about their previous lives. He uses an app. The fortune teller claims he knows she was   member of a royal family. He tells Lee Yeon he was a common laborer. As they stand to leave, the fortune teller warns them not to spend time together or one of them will die. That gets their attention.

Lee Rang asks where the fortune teller is.

Lee Yeon doesn't like what the fortune teller told them. Ji Ah shares fortune tellers can't be believed. Lee Yeon gets a message via arrow to come to the governor's office.

Lee Ran arrives at the fortune teller. He tells the man he knows who he is. The fortune teller reveals white eyes behind his dark glasses. The fortune teller muses that foxes are visiting him often today. Lee Ran realizes Lee Yeon was there. He asks for the fortune teller if he was the items that help see their past life. The fortune teller produces a pair of glasses. Lee Ran produces a suitcase of money. The fortune teller says the glasses can't be bought.

Lee Yeon calls to the governor to show himself. The governor appears and recognizes Lee Yeon though not with enthusiasm. Lee Yeon states they are looking for people that fall under his territory. The governor states his fox sister was recently killed at her wedding by someone that used to be a mountain spirit. Lee Yeon counters that the man that helped her avoid capture even when she killed many humans used to be a mountain spirit. He notes stopping those that cause chaos is his job. The governor says he has nothing to share. He calls his men to surround them. He tells Lee Yeon he should worry about staying alive.

The fortune teller suggests they trade. He wants something that Lee Ran holds dear.

Lee Yeon takes Ji Ah aside and tells her he's got this. He dispatches the governor's men. The governor directs Ji Ah to step further away from the fight. Lee Yeon continues to dispatch the governor's men.  The governor sees Ji Ah's concern and asks if she cares for the fox. Ji Ah admits she's using Lee Yeon to find her family and the search has put him in danger. She doesn't like that Lee Yeon is often hurt because of her. The governor likes her honesty but she'll regret coming to him. Done with the governor's men the governor approaches Lee Yeon. He doesn't look happy.

At the Afterlife Immigration Office Granny is not happy to hear a someone came to the underworld with a cell phone. She bangs the table as her husband Hyun Ui Ong puts down her food. She orders the caller to torture the owner. When she calls to her husband, he doesn't answer.

Lee Yeon and the governor fight. The governor mocks Lee Yeon for using his fox bead to save one person instead of creation. Lee Yeon suggest they fight without powers. The governor mocks Lee Yeon for falling for a human again. When they are done, Lee Yeon introduces the governor to Ji Ah as his best friend the moon bear.

At the snail's end eatery, Ui Ong ignores his wife's phone call. He complains that his wife is a frightening woman. The idea of being honest with the sister of the King of Hades frightens him even more.

Vet Gu Shin Joo treats Ki Yoo Ri to soup at the eatery. He wonders if he's misjudged her. Helping the hurt puppy was not the act of someone evil. Yoo Ri snaps she doesn't like him. Shin Joo urges her to eat the soup. He notes that she doesn't know how to be loved. Yoo Ri tells him to keep quiet.

Lee Ran ponders what is precious to him. He calls Lee Yeon, who ignores his call.

Lee Yeon shows the governor the picture of Ji Ah's parents. He asks if they disappeared on a particular night on the lunar calendar. Ji Ah confirms that was the night of the car accident. The governor says a man in a blue suit visited him that day and told him about the accident that would occur. Ji Ah is surprised the accident wasn't an accident. The governor believes the man was human. He says the man was average looking and easy to forget except for the sign of human branding on the man's forehead. The branding stated Seo Gyeong. Ji Ah states the human branding means the man was born prior to the Joseon dynasty. Lee Yeon wonders where the man is. The governor believes the man is close by because Ji Ah was the target of the accident, not her parents.

Ui Ong is summoned to return to work. He decides he wants a divorce. Yoo Ri tells him to shut up. Ui Ong can't believe her insolence. Shin Joo tells Yoo Ri that guy was the brother-in-law to the king of Hades.  Shin Joo offers her the leg of the chicken. She tells him she has a savior that saved her from a zoo keeper. She promises he'll meet him soon.

The governor tells Lee Yeon to walk away from Ji Ah. She has the scales of the King and the spirit of the King. Lee Yeon is taken aback. He looks at Ji Ah and remembers their first negative moment. He wonders if that was the real Ji Ah.

The boy with the scales on his face sits outside. When a bird drops after flying into the window, he's able to heal the bird.

Lee Yeon stares at Ji Ah who wonders who the man the governor referenced is. She doesn't understand why she'd be the target. She asks why he's willing to protect her. Lee Yeon says he doesn't want her to get hurt. He wants her to have a happy ending. He'd like her to trust him. Lee Ran calls and wants to meet. Lee Yeon asks what he wants. As they walk Lee Yeon tells Ji Ah that Lee Ran can help them find the man. Lee Yeon draws a talisman on his shoe. He says they can't lose Lee Ran. Lee Yeon switches shoes with Lee Ran, so that that he'll wear the shoe with the talisman.

Ji Ah isn't happy to see Lee Ran. Lee Yeon enters the room. The fortune teller enters the room. The fortune teller reveals his white eyes. He examines Lee Yeon with a glass. He agrees that Lee Yeon is Lee Ran's most precious person. He hands Lee Ran the glasses. Lee Ran says the fortune teller will explain.

Lee Ran can't find his shoes. He takes Lee Yeon's shoes as planned.

Lee Yeon and Ji Ah get ready to follow Lee Ran. The fortune teller stops Lee Yeon and tells him a deal is a deal. He strikes Lee Yeon who is pulled into the bag. Ji Ah is forced to decide between following Lee Ran or saving Lee Yeon.  She asks the fortune teller what she must do to get Lee Yeon back. The fortune teller wants her most precious item to trade. Ji Ah agrees to the terms.

Lee Ran drives in the night.

Ji Ah rushes to get her item and returns by 9pm per the fortune teller's requirements. At her house she searches to find her most precious item. She lays out the candidate items and considers. Ji Ah arrives at the historical. She bangs on the door. There's no answer. Then the door opens and the governor is there. She rushes in and thanks him. She arrives at the fortune teller's room just as the sand runs out. He asks what is most precious to her. She puts down the carousel music box her parents gave her the fateful night of the car accident. She says her parents disappeared 21 years ago. She admits her memories are fading. She believes they may still be alive. The fortune teller appraises the carousel music box.

Lee Ran arrives at the CEO's house. He asks why he's there that late. Lee Ran doesn't know why he's there. He apologizes and walks away. He wonders, then sees the talisman on the shoe.

The fortune teller won't make the trade. He says the music box isn't enough. Ji Ah asks what she can do. She pleads. The fortune teller examines her. He pulls away surprised by what he sees. He examines her hand. He says she was born with a special fate. He says metal will rule the earth and a moon will shine from the sky even if she's surrounded by darkness. He declares she posses the fox bead, that is her moon. He asks for the fox bead. She agrees. He's giddy with the deal. He says the lines on her hand will change. Ji Ah watches it happen.

The boy with the scales plays chess. He murmurs the fox bead is gone.

Lee Yeon asks what deal she made with fortune teller to get him back. Ji Ah says he came cheaper than expected. Ji Ah declares Lee Yeon is hers from now on.

At Ji Ah's house, Lee Yeon asks why she didn't follow Lee Ran when she had the chance. Ji Ah admits it was a difficult choice but she chose him because she trusted he could give her a happy ending. Ji Ah looks at the pictures of her parents. She says children need parents. She says she couldn't beat the kids with mothers and resented them. She sighs knowing the accident was her fault. She refuses to feel bad and turns to spicy chicken feet to help deal. Lee Yeon declares her cool. Unfortunately, Lee Yeon can't take the spicy food.

The boy with the scales stands in his room.

Granny senses something.

Lee Yeon tells Ji Ah he has an errand. He puts a blanket of her. She grabs his hand. She tells him not to be so nice to her. She doesn't want to be dependent on him, worrying it makes her weak. She falls asleep. Lee Yeon promises to reunite her with her parents. He says even if she forgets him, she will live a normal human life.

Ji Ah is startled when Lee Yeon arrives. He asks if she knows everything. He knows she knows the Imoogi lives.

Ji Ah has restless sleep. She sees the boy with the scales in her dream. She wakes and she's in his room. She looks around. The boy is in front of her with his back to her.

Granny says cause and effect rules. She says Ji Ah woke the Imoogi and he ignored her advice not to seek out Ji Ah. She confirms the Imoogi is alive. Lee Yeon asks what he fought for. Why did A Eum have to lose her life? Granny says that was the path Lee Yeon and A Eum chose. Lee Yeon wants to know where the Imoogi is. Granny reiterates that foxes and humans cannot be together. She declares his obsession will be his downfall. Lee Yeon yells for the Imoogi's location.

The boy with the scales looks out the window. He turns to Ji Ah and says hi.

Ji Ah wakes in her apartment.

Granny says the Imoogi that exited the well went into hiding. However, a piece was recently found.

Scales appear on Ji Ah's neck.
