Chapter 6 Intruder

Hearing an unfamiliar voice ringing out from the Prince's tent, the men outside stood up all alert and rushed to the Prince's tent with urgency.

"Tighten the security around the camp!" Quin's voice thundered with urgency and most men with their weapons dashed to their stations and stood alert for any enemy invasion. He too rushed towards the tent after unsheathing his sword. Quin knew they were in the enemy's territory and attacks like these were practically inevitable but they actually dared to attack their prince. It was death they were seeking and it's what they were going to get.

The men had formed a human barricade around the tent inorder not to give the enemy a chance to escape, Quin with two other young men dashed into the tent to fight the intruder. What greeted them was the stupified expression of their prince and following his line of sight, they saw....well... a very.... extremely cute doll like human girl sitting on the floor with a pout on her face. Big beady tears rolled down her plump cheeks but not a sound came from her but rather glared at their prince.

Ehhhhh!!!! their expressions were a sight to behold. Had it been in may other situation, they'd have laughed till sunrise

Looking at the small girl in his tent, the second prince was mesmerized, he had never seen such a beautiful human.

"Your Highness!!" he heard Quin call out to him.

Raising his hand, he signaled him to keep quiet and he elegantly got down form his bed and crouched down kneeling on one knee while the other knee supported his arm lazily, he came near the small girl and locked his gaze with her.

"Who are you?" He inquired gently with his melodious voice only to see the small girl's eyes twinkle and fill with admiration for him. It was so amusing that he chuckled.

"Sec...second prince!!" Ariel finally found her voice as she whispered his title.

"Wow, you know who I am?!" He was impressed. Well he was pretty popular. it for a small girl who had not been to a battle field before, it was interesting that she managed to identify him at first glance.

Recalling the reason she had come to him, "Help m....my father!" Ariel stuttered.

"Your father?" he tilted his head to the side and looked at her questioningly with a raised brow.

Realising she had forgotten her manners, Ariel stood up from the ground ignoring the waves of pain that hit her small body, her small hands elegantly held at her navel level, she bowed at a nintey degrees. Straightening up, she looked him in the eyes. "Ariel Forsetshire greets his Highness the second prince."

"Forsetshire?!!" the second prince responded thoughtfully. That name rung a bell in his mind and after a while his mind clicked where this name sounded familiar.

Standing up, he smiled at the small girl, he himself was no man but rather a young prince groomed from the battlefield. Her head barely reached his chest level and he himself was a junior teen. "Areil Forsetshire, greetings to you too. May I know as why you trespassed through my territory?" He looked down at her from where he stood with a probing gaze.

"I came to seek his highness's help." she said with evident plea in her eyes.

Quin and the two other soldiers looked on from the sidelines inquiringly as they didn't seem to catch up on the duo's interactions.

Their prince who was a god of death on the battle field actually had a soft side to him?! He hardly treated his own little sisters in a gentle manner and were actually afraid to come to him. But this doll like girl actuall managed to sneak into their Prince's tent to seek help!!! Hats off for her! She was brave!

"But you hardly know me Ariel." The prince spoke with an evil grin on his face that sent shivers down the spines of Quin and his subordinates.

"I know everything I need to know about you. she replied respectfully without cowering away from his sharp gaze and evil grin. He never changed, she noted.

"Oh!!" He was impressed that she didn't back down and stood her ground. He walked away to the table in the room and sat himself down. Ariel followed him and stood Infront of him.

"Will his Highness help me?" She inquired Futher, time was never her best ally.

He smiled at her bravery and thought 'she'd make a great leader someday." he looked at her small hands that were bleeding and her ripped dress. He frowned at the sight. "Sure, I'll help but let's tend to your wounds." he said as he stood to approach her.

"That can wait your highness, my father had been betrayed and they are planning to kill him." she spoke and this made him stop in his tracks. 'She's actually not worried about her wounds but rather her father!! Like her father indeed!!!'

"What's in for me?" a mischievous smile bloomed on his face. He'd need someone like her by his side in the future.

"I'll become your loyal subject." She sold her loyalty without batting an eye. Her facial expression were to much for a kid her size.

Quin and his colleagues still frozen like logs felt their jaws fall apart. 'Loyal subject?! Is she for real, like look at her small frame, she can make a good wife but a soldier?' That was way out of question. The men sized her up and down, 'too fragile!!!' they thought.

The second prince fought the urge to laugh out loud. Really brave!! "Ok tell me whose your father?" He asked though he had already guessed, it was not wrong to be sure.

"Eric Forsetshire." Ariel spoke as she kept her gaze on the prince.

'I knew it,' thought the second prince. The Forsetshire name was no news and besides, he had camped here in hopes of meeting with Eric.

"So tell me, where did u hear this conspiracy?" he asked as he waved his hand to dismiss the extra audience. He fell back in his seat elegantly.

Still standing, when she heard him willing to help, she was stunned and proceede to answer his questions so that he could think of a way to help them. "I'm not sure who the men were!" She frowned. Though she knew that Edmond had betrayed her father, he had his reasons, though they didn't justify his betrayal, she couldn't stand to say his name out. She remembered he had been with her all the time when her father was away and he had trained her to be what she was.

"Did your father send you to seek help from me?" The second prince was curious.

"No....., I was out to come meet you as you are a legend when I happened to hear of their plot." she spoke truthfully. She had escaped to meet him.

'She came to meet him, now that was interesting!!' The prince thought with a smile on his face. "And what exactly did they say?!" he inquired.

"That you ploted with my father to attack the kingdom. My father is going to be labelled a rebel and a traitor and our family will be beheaded." she put her concern before him but she was slightly irritated when he smiled. 'Did he not take her seriously?!' It was so infuriating that tears started to drop from her bright purplish eyes.

Realising that he had ticked her off, he came to her and patted her head in an attempt to comfort her. "Ok, okay, don't cry over this, am going to meet up with your father and see a way out." He felt a pain in his chest when he saw her cry. She must love her family dearly.

"But if your found together, there's no way anyone will believe my father." She continued to sniff as huge heads of tears fell down from her eyes.

'Ok, she was smart and indeed that was bound to be the outcome of they were found together.' "So how do you want me to help him then." He chose to go by her plan if she had any. He was actually curious to know how smart she could get.

However, they were interrupted when a report came in from a soldier.

"Your Highness, Sir Roland has returned, he's with Sir Eric!"
