Chapter 141: Sacred Raisin Cake

Hexel visited their villa near the Palace. The Duchess decided that their villa should be the evacuation center for all the casualties.

"We were having our dinner when we received the news about the assignment being fulfilled. We heared a sudden explosion coming from the top when I instructed our butler to check it. He alarmed us to evacuate, saying that the whole roof was toasted." Tera explained tiredly.

Cyrus assigned the Tale Bearers in guarding the duke's household. Hexel was glad to hear that his father's condition were stable and better. The wounded and injured maids are being tended by Lehi. Evi lend her medical gift toward the butlers, then went back at the Palace.

"Did you recieve any threats?" Ophir inquired.

Tera made a gesture to indicate a no.

"That's strange! Because if there are threats then it can be on a political line but if not, then someone who is familiar within the house must have done it." Nevi reasoned out. Kiel and Ain nodded as they agree with Nevi. Ophir also added as he observed the area.

"If they want you dead, why would they burn the roof and not threw a bomb? Someone wants to scare you."

Hexel patrolled with Ain to check the outside vicinity. Thier villa had Hexel's chocolate wavy shade that contradicts their pearly household.

"If Ophir and Nevi is right then the culprit might try to aim for this location as well." Hexel commented.

Ain drew some line barriers to confuse the enemy as he slit the space.

"Have you heard? Nevi and Ophir with Urchin will be sleeping on the roof. I will guard you. Kiel and Lehi will assist the duchess in tending the maids."

Hexel just agreed without any argument that it made Ain felt weird, usually Hexel would argue and exchange his position especially if he is the one being defended. Ain tried to tease the young duke.

"You really should get married while your parents are their to help you through."

Hexel just hummed a yes which is again a new response coming from him. They encircled the whole place and enter the living room. The inside had simplier furnitures and accessories. The pad of the floor were of lebanon woods and the wall were of mud. The scene and setting is like a vacation house near the sea but it's actually located in the midst of hills.

Natalina felt worried when she heared the news. Hexel is a dear friend to her. She asked Cyprus for permission if she can visit the villa with Lila to ease her anxiousness and Cyprus just agreed. Cyrus teased Cyprus for being mature and for setting aside his jealousy toward the young duke that was said to be the perfect match for his wife.

"Well I have learned enough from watching you."

Cyprus said not backing down.

Cyrus just shrugged at him as he pampered Kielah. Cyprus dragged Sage to babysit with him since he is fond of the triplets.

Natalina and Lila appeared at the front gate when they saw a fire starting at the side of the garden. Lila and Natalina alerted Hexel and Ain who just entered after taking a round. Ain grabbed a pitchel of water and transformed the size bigger to kill the spreading fire. When the fire successfully died down. Lehi and Kiel joined them. Ophir, Nevi and Urchin watched from the roof above them.

"The barrier that I put up was able to lessen the damage. And that was quick we just finished our patrol." Ain commented as he looked beyond the garden for any sign of intruding but the whole area were neat and sane.

Natalina left some earrings for communication. Natalina embraced Hexel who looked exhausted and gloomy. His nature somehow got detached from his usual self. Natalina encouraged him as she sat and inquired about the duke and duchess. Hexel's current state looked devastated. His face were sour. His hair and clothes were dirty and dusty. Natalina cheered him up to take a bath and freshen up. Ain can't help but think that this two really looked very good together. Ain cannot deny that their chemistry as well are perfect that if only Natalina did not get abducted and married Cyprus they can birth and seed a beautiful and perfect family.

Ain observed how Hexel obeyed every word that Natalina said. Hexel invited him for a bath. As they were soaking, Ain scrub his senior's back.

"I used to think that you and Natalina are bound to get married but when I join the tale bearer. I can observed how closely you treat each other. So why didn't you asked the earl's daughter in marraige." Ain bluntly stated as he washed Hexel's back.

"Because were family. Ever since childhood we were babysitting Kiel so we can relate with each other. I mean yes we get along well but our relationship is of friendship and nothing more. We always explain the same line everytime." Hexel answered as he offer to do the same with Ain.

Tera slept by her husband's side. Hessie's pearly lens are resting beyond his shut eye lids. His reddish brown hair bounces as she caress it with her hand. If only she did not broke her heel, then Hessie did not need to use his body to secure her from the falling debris. Tera cannot eradicate the burn unto her husband's back. It's like a map with the size of a palm.

Hexel knocked from their door gently to check on his parents. He embraced his mother who looked tired and sleepy.

"Mother take some rest, I will watch over you." Hexel offered above whisper.

"How about you?" Tera asked in concerned.

"It's alright I can take a nap when you wake up." Hexel assured as he picked up his mother's scarf by the side table and gently put it over Tera's shoulder.

Tera gladly accepted Hexel's offer.

He watched his parents as he sat by the edge of the bed. It's the first time he joined his parents without being nagged to get married.
