Cayden POV
Kline didn’t take it. Not that I thought he would, so I place the Beta badge on his table and rifle through his first aid kit.
Goddess, I hope he has some good painkillers.
The best I find are some low-grade pills.
I swallow them dry and nearly choke on the bitter and chalky taste. What does it matter anyway?
Glancing up, I can see Kline’s shadow pacing as he talks to whoever. If only my wolf was still around, I could probably hear him. Yet, it’s silent.
I’d also be healing, but now, I have to suffer the pain like a regular human.
What can I possibly offer the pack now? With no wolf, am I even part of this pack anymore?
I’m certainly no Beta.
Kline comes sauntering back, and retakes his seat, “I’ve had the maid warm some tea.”
“That’s nice of you,” I bite out.
“What’s got your panties in a twist?”
