Anna slowly backed away from the casket, fear bubbling in her chest as she did. Almost immediately as she was at the exit, her mother’s eyes closed.
“Hmm…exactly as I predicted”, her father finally spoke. He had not moved from his previous position and it was starting to disturb Anna. How could he possibly have seen what she had seen and not reacted? She stared at him in dismay as he moved closer to her mother. He had lost the privilege of calling her mother his wife the moment that he had murdered her…or at least stabbed her…
“What is happening? How is she still alive? Why aren’t you afraid? Stop looking at her and answer me!!!” Anna screamed in frustration.
“Shh…” her father pressed his finger to his lips, silencing her. He was now facing her, giving nothing away. His blank expression and relaxed composure worried her. She was now clutching onto the curtain, fighting the urge to run straight back through the hallway and out of her night terror reality.
