Chapter 2: Call of duty.

Earth~ Present day.

" Dada." A kid shouted as he ran towards Henry.

" Baby, how are you?" Henry said loudly as he lifted the kid and carried her in his arms.

" I am fine daddy." The kid said as she smiled beautifully.

" Kim, did you have a good night's sleep?" Henry asked as he sat on a couch with Kim in his arms.

" Yes daddy, I even had a dream. I saw that you were fighting bad guys with fire and they all ran away from you." Kim said cheerfully.

" Yes, your papa is a hero." Henry responded, chuckling, what a silly dream, fighting bad guys with fire? That's so impossible.

" What about you? Did you have a good sleep?" Kim asked her father.

" Yes baby." Henry responded but before any of them could talk, a woman walked into the room, she is Henry's wife, Susan.

" Kim, come take breakfast and leave for school." The woman said she had green eyes, black hair. She looked so beautiful.

" No, I am not going to school today, I want to stay with dada today, I don't know when he will be home again." Kim responded and she wrapped her arms around Henry's neck, clutching him tightly, Henry laughed loudly at his daughter's actions.

" Kim, you have to go to school, I will be here by the time you come back from school." Henry said unhurriedly.

" Are you sure?" Kim asked innocently.

" Yes."

" Pinky finger?" Kim said and she stretched her pinky finger towards Henry which he took with his pinky finger.

" Now go to your mom." Henry said and he placed Kim on the ground, she smiled and she walked towards her mother.

" Now come have your food and let me take you to school." Susan said as she led Kim to the dining room. Henry just sat in the living room, watching a show on the tv set in the room. Kim had her breakfast and she reluctantly left with Susan to her school.

After Susan had taken Kim to school, she came back home.

" You are still watching TV." Susan said as she walked into the house.

" Yeah, this show is hilarious." Henry said as he laughed.

" So you already requested a break today?" Henry asked as his wife walked into the house.

" Yes." Susan moved closer to Henry and she sat on his lap after she placed her handbag on a table in the centre of the room.

" I really missed you Henry." Susan said.

" I also missed you but you know what my job requires." Henry said as he wrapped his hands around Susan.

" You keep mentioning your job."

" Yes, it's my job and you know I really love my job but not as I love you and Kim."

" I know Henry, so when are you leaving again?"

" I will be leaving in the next two days."

" And like I said, I would be away for a long time." Henry added.

" You didn't mention how long."

" Maybe two months." Henry said softly, Susan's face turned solemn after hearing what Henry said, two months.

" How can you leave me and Kim here and be away for two months and you also know that for those two months, I would be worrying about you every day and night. " Susan said with pain seeping from every word.

" I really don't wish to leave you on Earth and take that mission but it's my job." Henry explained as he brought Susan closer to him.

" Is your job more important than me, Kim?" Susan asked loudly as she wiggled out of Henry's grasp.

" No, but I have to do it. I don't have any choice now." Henry explained as he stood up.

" You had a choice then but you still went on with it." Susan said sadly.

" Yes, you are right." Henry added.

" You still went on the program, you didn't think about your family." Susan shouted at Henry, pointing a finger at his face.

" You are right and I am sorry." Henry said softly as he took Susan into his hands, hugging her tightly.

" I am really unhappy that you wouldn't be here." Susan said as she sobbed.

" I am sorry." Henry said softly as he held Susan tightly against his chest. Henry thought about the mission that would make him be away from his family for at least two months. It was a mission that required him to travel out of Earth to check a distant planet that was discovered by a satellite to have living creatures that looked like humans living on the planet. The planet was named Saivas after the humans on Earth discovered the planet, they also decided to check out the planet and see if it is able to accommodate humans on Earth. So they started a program to craft special soldiers, stronger and faster than other humans on Earth, capable of surviving difficult circumstances and Henry applied for this program with one hundred soldiers from all other parts of the world. The program was named X-V05, and it was carried out in secret with its details available to just a few people. The program was a dangerous program for the soldiers and only sixteen soldiers survived the program, including Henry. Sixteen soldiers out of a hundred soldiers made it out alive, changed into something more powerful. The surviving soldiers were named the x soldiers and they were trained to control their new body that had tremendous strength, speed and precision. After training, they were recruited to take the trip to Savias.

" I promise you that I will come back home safe and I will quit my job as a soldier." Henry announced and Susan looked at him with surprise.

" Really?" Susan asked, doubting what Henry just said.

" Yes Susan." Henry said with a bright smile.

" Thank you Henry." Susan said as she hugged her husband tightly but before Henry could say anything, his phone rang. Henry released Susan from his grasp and he made to pick his phone, after picking the phone from the chair he sat before, he picked the call.

" X 14." Henry heard a male voice say over the phone.

" Yes sir." Henry responded and his stance changed immediately.

" Mission Savias Explore would be activated earlier, which is tomorrow morning." The person said over the phone and Henry's face changed, he thought he would leave Earth in the next two days but now he is leaving tomorrow.

" I know you are thinking right now why the mission would be activated early, it's because some movements were discovered on Savias, movements that could affect Earth negatively so we have to check what is happening on that planet and make preparations." The person said over the phone.

" I understand sir." Henry said solemnly.

" So you would be expected at the base today, before five." The person said just as Henry expected.

" Yes sir." Henry responded.

" Take care, soldier." The person said and he ended the call, Henry placed his phone in his trouser side pocket before turning to face his wife. His wife heard his conversation and she knew that her husband would be leaving this evening and she might not see her husband for the next two months.

" It's okay baby." Susan said and she moved closer to Henry, enveloping her husband in a hug.

" Thank you so much dear for understanding." Henry said warmly.

" Just say bye to Kim before leaving." Susan said.

" I would do that, I must do it." Henry said and he broke the hug.

" I have to eat breakfast, I will not be eating your food for a long time." Henry said with a chuckle as he left the room.

Four In the evening, Kim arrived and she saw her father in his military uniform, sitting in the living room like he was waiting for something, no someone.

" Dad!" Kim said as she walked into her house.

" Hey sweetie." Henry said.

" Where are you going?" Kim asked innocently.

" Are you leaving me and mom already?" Kim asked sadly.

" See sweetie, I have to go." Henry said softly, really hoping she understood.

" So you have been waiting for me?" Kim asked.

" Yes." Henry said solemnly.

" Promise me that you will come back home safely." Kim said.

" I promise." Henry said and he hugged his daughter. Henry reluctantly left his family, he felt sad that he would be leaving his family for a long time but he had to do his job, just for one last time.

" Bye Susan, Kim, be a good girl and make your mom happy." Henry said, waving his hand at them before walking away from his house, he got into his car and he drove off.

" I would be back for you, I would do anything to protect you." Henry made a promise to himself as he drove his car to the military base where the operation would be controlled.

Henry soon got to the base and he went Into a big office.

" X 14 reporting to duty sir." Henry said as he saluted.
