Chapter 13: Army of beasts

Kai ran towards the leader of the slavers but before he could get to him, a slaver blocked his way but Kai just shot the man a condescending look. The man slashed his long sword at Kai and Kai also waved his claws at the man. The sword and Kai's claws collided and the sword was cut into two, the claws didn't stop until it took the man's head away from his body.

The man didn't even realise what was happening until he died, Kai didn't stop as he kept running towards the leader of the slavers. The leader is named Reeves and he didn't move a bit as chaos ensued around him. Three men in blue armour approached the leader and they attacked him swiftly but Reeves managed to block the attacks. The men continued to throw punches, kicks and slashes at Reeves but he kept dodging every attack until Kai joined the attack.

" Stay away!" Kai shouted as he dived towards Reeves, who was looking at everything around him calmly. The men attacking Kai before moved away as Kai attacked.

Reeves avoided the attack but he didn't attack Kai and this befuddled Kai, Reeves having been playing defence since the beginning of the fight. Kai swerved and he threw another attack at Reeves and the attack hit Reeves, he expected Reeves to bleed or fall to the ground. But any of that didn't happen, Reeves just vanished rapidly like a shadow and what was happening just dawned on Kai.

" An illusion!" Kai exclaimed as he looked around but he didn't notice anything related to Reeves. The men that attacked were surprised that the Reeves they fought was an illusion. If an illusion is able to dodge the attacks of three men in the advanced rank, then how strong is Reeves himself?

Then Kai noticed a man that was killing his men easily as he stopped the slaves from escaping.

" Reeves." Kai ran towards the man. The man was truly Reeves but he used an illusion to make himself look like another person. Reeves noticed that Kai was running towards him and he created an illusion that looked like he disappeared but he was also running towards Kai.

Kai was surprised but he knew that he was in an illusion so he stopped running and he looked around him but he didn't notice anything. Calmly, he bent down and Reeves' sword missed his head.

" See, if I want you dead, you will be dead. But I have to leave, I don't have time to fight you." Reeves said after appearing at Kai's front. " But let me warn you, if you come after my life again, I will make sure you are dead." Reeves added.

" I need you for my plans Reeves." Kai responded nonchalantly.

" Bye." Reeves said before vanishing and the illusion around Kai diminished. Kai saw that all the slavers had disappeared except for the slaves that were killed.

" It seems he left with his men." Kai said as he looked around and he couldn't find any slaver.

" Sir Kai, they have disappeared mysteriously." One of the men with Kai said as he bowed slightly.

" I can see that." Kai responded snarkily.

" Release all the slaves and let's leave this place as soon as possible, we have no business here again." Kai ordered as he walked away from the man. He felt like he had wasted time coming to the desert, he couldn't beat Reeves even if brought his subordinates. He didn't think anyone could defeat him, except for the leaders of his organisation. Reeves didn't have proper offensive skills but he could escape any fight anytime, anyhow.

Meanwhile Greg and Henry were still running away from the slavers before Greg stopped the both of them.

" Let's rest for a while." Greg said.

" Yeah." Henry said as he sat on the ground, catching his breath.

" I don't think Kai can stop the leader of the slavers." Greg said.

" He looks strong." Henry responded.

" We should get moving already, if we move quickly, we will reach the city of Navas." Greg said and he continued walking with Henry.

" Then we can go from there to your kingdom." Henry added.

" Yes."

" You have to enrol in an elite military school so that you will be trained how to use your ability and different weapons." Greg said and he searched his pocket.

" Am I not too old?" Henry asked, he is an adult after all.

" No, in the elite military school, unless you are so strong and talented. You can't get into the school when you are young, because the school only trains the ones with great potential." Greg explained and he handed Henry a golden token.

" What's this?" Henry asked as he examined the token.

" This token is a ticket to get into the military elite school, it's a special ticket. Given to high officials of the kingdom so that they can give to people they think should be in the academy." Greg described the token and Henry mouthed a oh in realisation.

" Thank you, I guess." Henry said as he chuckled slightly, he didn't know if Greg was doing him a favour or he was just protecting the ability.

" You are welcome." Greg responded and they kept walking silently. They stopped walking that night to rest a bit then they continued walking the next day.

" I am feeling hungry, do you know where we can get something to eat?" Henry asked.

" Well I also thought about it too. We can only eat something if we hunt, and we are getting closer to a forest infested with edible beasts." Greg responded.

" How can I know if some beasts are edible?" Henry asked quickly.

" Here take this." Greg threw a book at Henry. Henry opened the book and he saw different beasts drawn in the book with quick descriptions about the beasts.

" That book gives you basic knowledge about the beasts recorded in the book." Greg described the book.

" What about you? Would you not need it?" Henry asked as he checked the book.

" I have had the book with me for years so I won't be needing it now."

" Thank you Greg." Henry said sincerely as he kept the book.

" Do you have weapons?" Henry asked.

" Yes." Greg responded but Henry was confused, he didn't see any weapon on Greg's body.

" Where?" Henry asked, still confused.

" I have a storage ring." Greg said as he chuckled, storage rings are common but Henry didn't know anything about storage rings. But he wasn't surprised anymore, he thought Henry was from a far away place.

" Prepare." Greg said and two swords appeared on his hand, a broadsword and a normal sword. He handed the normal sword to Henry and he took the broadsword.

" You can use it right?" Greg asked as they neared the forest.

" I should be able to." Henry responded as he held the sword awkwardly.

" I can see that." Greg said as he chuckled, the way Henry held the sword made him laugh.

" Trust me, I will manage." Henry said and they entered the forest before Greg activated his ability.

" Your ability is great." Henry commented as he looked at Greg that was covered with metal.

" Thanks." Greg said and they moved silently, quickly in the forest, searching for a beast. Minutes later, they saw a large beast feeding on another beast and they hid themselves as they checked the beast. They didn't approach the beast rashly, they looked around the surroundings and they observed the beast before they finally decided to attack it.

" It's a King tier beast." Greg said before attacking the beast. Henry rushed towards the beast, getting the beast's attention. The beast ignored its meal and it chased after Henry that already retreated, as it chased Henry it ignored its surroundings.

Greg suddenly leapt towards the beast and he slashed his sword at the beast's neck and a small wound appeared on the beast's neck. But the beast didn't fall, it just turned to face Greg and it dashed towards Greg. Greg leapt up again and he dived towards the beast with his sword and stabbed the beast head, killing it immediately. Greg quickly approached the beast and he started cutting the beast into smaller pieces.

" Henry come over and helped me cut this beast into pieces." Greg said.

" Alright, but what's with the rush?" Henry asked.

" Its blood will attract other beasts to us, so we must leave quickly." Greg said.

" That's true." Henry muttered as he joined Greg, as they went on they suddenly heard loud noises approaching them.

They kept the smaller pieces of the beast and they looked up and they saw thousands of beasts running towards them.

" F*ck! Run with everything you have!" Greg shrieked before running away swiftly.

" Why are there so many beasts here?" Henry asked, the beasts were so much he couldn't count them.

" Like I said, this forest is infested with beasts." Greg said and Henry was dumbfounded. He knew that this many beasts resided here, yet he made us hunt in the same place, this man is crazy!
