All the Kings Men

Alexius seeing his son collapse in the chamber turned to Dahl and Garin and yelled "Why do you sit there grinning like fools retrieve your brother from the chamber." Both men arose slowly not really caring if their brother lived or died, what did it matter if a waste like him died. Then their father could stop dreaming and appoint one of them to be the future King.

"Crispin!" the king wailed. Several moments later a tall lanky man burst through the thick wooden door as if it was made of paper. "My King" he bowed humbly in front of Alexius. The brothers had finally retrieved Alexander, while in the chamber the wild mana threatened to attack them. However, with a wave from Dahl's hand the mana was easily dispersed and flew away from them as if a scalded dog in pain.

"Take my son to your chambers and heal him, spare no expense. If he dies consider yourself his grave brother, for you will shortly follow." Alexius yelled in a mournful voice. Crispin hurriedly grabbed Alexander in his arms and whisked him away to the infirmary.

After the man had left with his son, Alexius looked to Dahl and Garin. "What have you to say for yourselves? Mocking your own brother, praying for his downfall how dare you!" He roared. "Begone from my sight."

The two men rushed out of the room not wanting to endure their fathers anger for fear of being crippled or chastised even further. "Call all of my Royal Counsel here immediately." A hand servant in the corner bowed low to the ground then rushed off the inform the men of the King's summons.

A room full of men all imposing and proud, on their knees before the King. "My Lord you summoned us to you?" One of the men Wilford spoke out with his head bowed to the man before him. "I have called you here to investigate a disturbance in the wild mana contained in the challenge chamber. Proceed to investigate the cause of this fluctuation."

All the men arose, they approached the chamber cautiously. The wild mana seemed to be behaving normally. The only way to confirm if anything is wrong is for someone to test the chamber by circulating mana.

"I volunteer" said Volta the 1st. Knight of the Mage order. All the other men murmured their agreement at his offer. Approaching the chamber Volta didn't notice anything amiss, raising his hand in front of him he made a hand gesture and the magical barrier door once again opened.

As he entered the chamber the wild mana seemed to be disturbed by something, looking all around the only difference he saw was the addition of purple lightning mana. "The legendary purple mana has formed here? How has this happened?" as he approached the purple mana it danced around like a firefly.

He stretches his consciousness and heart out to the mana. It starts to slowly approach him, he excitedly strains himself to absorb it faster. The mana reacts violently to this! It begins to flash like a strobe light slow at first then faster, lightning starts to arc to the mana around it. The whole chamber is a mass of colorful wild mana chained with electricity.

Soon the flashing turns into a solid extremely bright light, slowly all the mana is pulled toward the purple light. As the first strand of mana is absorbed by the light, time seems to speed up and all the mana in the chamber is pulled into the light and it explodes.

The purple light along with all of the wild mana has disappeared from the chamber and Volta lay unconscious and severely burned on the ground.
