66 chapter 6
On the road toward the northern border of Ironwood, three figure were riding their horses and a large humanoid figure following alongside them.
"I don't get why we have to come along with you on this trip…," Mavis complained.
"Well you have to because I said so," Leonard told her with a smirk on his face.
"But why involved me though….couldn't you just get a group of soldiers to escort you guys to the northern border?" Mavis asked him and then look at their group, of which consist of Ryan and Clementine, she did not say anything to Tyrant as the creature doesn't count as a living being.
"That, Mavis- is because I don't us want to stand out too much," Leonard told her.
"Besides, why complaining so much? Just think of this as a nice vacation~" he then added.
"Yes, it is indeed nice to have a trip outside of the castle once in a while," Ryan told Mavis.
Clementine just rode along with Ryan and did not say anything, however, Leonard could see a smile on her face, she's probably excited to have a road trip with them.
"Vacation my ass, going toward a potential war zone." she continued to complained.
"Oh come on, it's not like we're going to get directly involved in the fight," Leonard told the elf woman.
"And please, what's the worst that could happen." Leonard blurted out accidentally.
"Halt!" suddenly an unknown voice calls out to the both of them from inside the wood.
The group stopped and look toward the direction of the voice.
"Who's there!" Mavis shouted as she pulled out her sword.
Leonard did not say anything and just let Mavis do her thing, however, he's ready himself to pull out the corpse spear at a moment notice, as for Tyrant, the thing just stood there as they stopped.
Out of the thicket, a group of armsmen walked out.
They were holding all sort of weapons, ranging from spears, swords, and maces.
"Oh look who we have here boys, we hit the jackpot" the voice that told them to stop spoked up.
"Bandits?" Leonard asked.
"Oh look like we have a smart one here boss." the one next to the leader spoke up.
"Boss let me have the girl over there first!" one of the scumbags then pointed at Ryan.
The bandits were discussing how to distribute the women and the loots right in front of them.
"You done yet?" Leonard couldn't stand for it any longer and spoke up.
"Heh? Just hold on a moment, you're living a bit longer so enjoy it while you can." the scumbag that first pointed for Ryan told him.
"Ryan, please cover Clementine's eyes, don't let her witness what's going to happen next," Leonard told her, Ryan nodded and pulled her hand over the little girl eyes, blocking her sigh.
"Leonard?" Clementine called out to Leonard.
"Don't worry, it will be over quickly, also use your hand to cover your ears, Clem, they will be quite loud," Leonard suggested, Clementine then quickly use both of her hand and placed them over her ears.
"Alright Tyrant...slaughter them- but try leave the corpses intact, I have used for them," Leonard ordered the monster.
"Hey hey hey-" *smash one of them bandit called out at them while waving his sword, however before he could say anything else Tyrant was already on him and brutally beating the man up with it bare fists.
"What are you standing there for? KILL THE MAN AND LEAVE THE WOMEN'S!" the bandit boss roared.
*Booom a ball of flame flew and hit the bandit group.
"Hey! I said leave the corpses! There might be some uses for later! What you're doing is wasting precious resource!" Leonard told Mavis, the one who shoots that fireball at the bandit and charred quite a few of them.
"Where are you even going to store it?! Do you suggest that we just dragged them along by horses?" Mavis asked Leonard.
"Of course not! I wanted to see if I can store the corpses inside my inventory!" Leonard told her.
"....fine….lightning bolt!" Mavis then pointed her finger at the bandit that was running away during the chaos caused by Tyrant little rampage and Mavis fireball, and instantly blue lightning shot from her finger in a straight line and pierced through the running man.
"Now that's better!" Leonard gave her a thumb up.
Soon, all the bandits that planned to rob and kill them were lying dead on the grass.
He then went to the corpse and turned on his inventory.
"System, can you store the corpses in the inventory?" he asked using his mind.
[Too big to be stored in the inventory] the system messages him.
"What a shame….look like I won't be able to store it," Leonard said in a dejected tone.
"So...what are we going to do with the corpses now?" Mavis asked him.
"....like I said...nothing goes to waste...wait...the system did say that it was too big to be store...maybe we can chop it-" Leonard was about to say something, however.
"No no no! That is just WROOOONG!" Mavis yelled at him.
"Alright alright, I won't chop them up….turning them into undead maybe?" Leonard asked.
"Just don't be too obvious, or the church might be after your ass for the "purification" ritual as well." Mavis reminded him.
Flashback, how it all began.
"Mavis, come on pack up, we are leaving for the northern border," Leonard told the elf girl.
"Huh? Why go there?" she asked
"We're going there for a vacation of course! Let also bring along Ryan and Clementine as well! The more the merrier right?" Leonard proclaimed excitedly.
"I have a bad feeling about this." Mavis thought
Flashback end and back to the present.
By dusk, the entourage has reached a small town that was in between of the northern border garrison city and the duchy capital, Trier.
The town was quite bustling with activity, not on the level of the capital, however, from the look of it, anyone could see that it was quite prosperous.
"We should find a place to stay for the night, Clementine looks quite tired, and she's asleep already." Ryan suggested as Clementine was sleeping peacefully while leaning on her chest."
"Yes, we should." Leonard agreed.
