Magic Potential and Books

*Movement*

The journey to the library took much longer than Qin had anticipated, it seemed a lot shorter when he went with his mother. After 20 minutes of crawling, Qin had started to feel quite exhausted. His infant body could not keep up with his plans in his developed brain. 'Curse this damned body!' Qin thought.

Finally, Qin reached the library. Thankfully there was no door to guard the entrance, anyone could freely walk in, or in this case, crawl in. The library itself was gigantic, the height of the room was over 100 feet high having books lined up to the top of the shelves. Qin had seen many alphabetical books in his past life so finding a similar format of books wouldn't be so hard.

Qin immediately started to look around, he did not have any time to waste. As Qin crawled around looking for the alphabet section, he remembered something crucial. On his past visits to the library with his mother, Qin remembered her using a magical device of some sort to seemingly transport a book of her choice right to her.

The device was a pedestal with some sort of hologram on top.

Although this was quite useful to know, Qin could not access the pedestal where you could use the magical device because he was too small. His only option was to look on all four limbs until he was able to walk. Qin could only hope that the language books were on the lowest shelves.

After two hours of searching, Qin finally opened a book that looked identical to a beginner alphabet book. He was ecstatic! One of his two goals for the day was fulfilled. Unfortunately, however, he didn't get to read the book, but knowing which section it was in was a great leap forward.

Qin then waited and fought his urge to sleep until someone came inside of the library. It was already six am before the first librarian came inside. Qin was extremely exhausted by then. 'Six o'clock' He said in his head before passing out.

The librarian that had come was a young man in his early twenties. He had slicked-back blonde hair and stood at 5'9 in height. After coming inside the room, he saw Qin sleeping on the floor.

"What in the world!?" He yelled out loud.

Just like this, Qin went to the library almost every day, making sure to sleep plenty in the day to rest his body. Not being able to sleep was a costly thing on his infant body.

Three weeks later.

Qin knew how to walk. He was dumbfounded when he realized he could already walk. To learn how to walk in five months was unheard of. Even his mother was extremely surprised. To be able to crawl at four months was crazy on its own, but to be able to walk only a month later was baffling.

She was actually quite happy that her son was so smart. Only talented babies would develop these skills fast. Although he had a white magic potential, which was the weakest, he still showed promising signs of a genius.

Magic potentials were a way to rank a person's potential in their life from birth. It was kind of a cruel concept but it was prominent in all sanctions of the world. The ranks went as follows. White was known as the weakest in terms of magic potential. If a baby was born with a white-colored aura, they would be known as failures in noble families.

50 percent of people were born with a white-colored aura, these people would live as normal civilians in society, working for a living and nothing more. One step higher than white was the yellow magic potential. The yellow magic potential was not very good, in higher noble families, you would still be considered a failure if you were to be born with a yellow magic potential.

People with yellow magic potentials would usually work as guards, low-ranked soldiers, or servants of noble houses. Above the yellow magic potential was the green magic potential. This was an average magic potential for a sorcerer. Those with green-colored aura could become strong sorcerers and even high-ranked soldiers for many noble families.

After the green magic potential was blue. If one was to be born with a blue magic potential, they would be considered slight geniuses. A blue magic potential was quite respectable, and you could easily join most guilds in the world. Most nobles were born with the blue mana potential and were of course considered geniuses by society.

The red magic potential was next after the blue one. If you were to be born with a red magic potential, you would be considered a great prodigy who could excel everyone and rise to the top. This magic potential was exceptionally rare.

Finally came the golden magic potential. This magic potential was considered impossible to be born with. No one in over 100 years had been born with a golden magic potential.

In the end, Qin was only born with white magic potential. Although someone could break through the barriers of their potential and become even stronger, this was something that had never been seen by anyone alive today, no one even dared to try their luck, and those who did would fail miserably.

Qin had finally learned how to speak the language of this world that was called Jooun. He had studied nonstop, even bringing the book back to his bedroom to read it even during the day. Although Qin hated the feeling of wasting his time reading, it would be extremely beneficial to him in the future.

His mother had seen him study the book every single day, but she only thought of it as his favorite play toy. After many weeks, It was finally time for Qin to get his name changed! According to his mother, his name in this new world was apparently Ying. Qin hated the idea of changing his name, the legendary name of Qin was the staple of his pride and of his entire dynasty that once ruled most of the world! To have it changed would be a disgrace.

Qin walked over to his mother who lay on the bed in the morning with his five-month-old limbs. After climbing up on top of the bed, he realized that if he was to simply speak out of nowhere, it would be very confusing and disturbing. It even had a chance to make his own mother suspicious of him.

Qin simply walked over to his mother and grabbed her palm. Using his finger, he wrote "Q I N".

"Qin?" His mother said. She was slightly confused. "M E, Q I N, N O T, Y I N G," Qin wrote down again. His mother laughed after understanding what Qin meant. "So you want to be called Qin? That's fine! Since when have you learned to write!?" She said excited and confused.

Qin simply faked a smile. His face was twitching due to him never smiling before, it wasn't very common for him. If she were to buy his act of a smart yet cute little innocent baby, it would be perfect moving on in the future.

'Now that I have learned this language, I need to learn how to do the magic that I saw! Ever since that first day when I saw magic, I've seen many other types of it as well. Whenever I fall and scratch knees, my mother heals them with a mysterious green light, truly fascinating! Many people use this magic to simply complete daily tasks such as open doors for themselves or eat with magic! I must learn how to do such a thing!' Qin thought to himself while eating breakfast.

After eating breakfast, it was time for Qin's daily visit to the library again. This time, however, his time reading alphabet books had ended. It was finally time for him to read about magic. And so, Qin quickly made his way to the library started to browse through the book finder that was on the pedestal. He could now use it since he could climb up some couches and make his way to the top of the pedestal.

It was an incredibly efficient magical device, one would be able to search for any book that they wanted. Qin wrote "Magic" Into the device and on the holographic display in front of him, he could see an array of different books about magic. Most of the books however were fantasy books about a magical warrior, only after scrolling through the endless books for about 20 minutes could Qin find a book called "Magic for beginners."

'Finally!' Qin yelled in his head. He was quite happy, after searching for so long, his hopes were pretty low. It seemed that to learn magic, one would need much more than just an average library.

Qin picked the pick as it appeared in front of him. He took the book and sat down on a couch as he started to read. The book was truly for beginners, most people would not benefit from it at all due to it being most common sense in this world that everyone had heard from birth, but for Qin, it was a holy grail for magic knowledge. Through the book, Qin learned how magic potentials worked along with how magic itself worked.

Magic Cultivation!

This was it, this was what Qin had been looking for this entire time. A way to get attain magic. Only after reading did Qin find out that not many were born with the talent for magic, even 80 percent of white magic potential persons wouldn't be born with the ability to conjure magic.

Sorry for the information dump and this being quite a boring chap with lots of mistakes, I had some person problems in my life while writing this and couldn't fully focus on the story of it. Don't think of it as a representation of my entire novel, wait for the juicy parts!
