Imagine being reincarnated in a magical world with martial artists capable of severing mountains, and dividing seas. A world where gods exist, and are deemed supreme and like to cause chaos. If one has a system bent on tempting then to become the biggest devil, to enjoy most of its benefits. The story follows Wang Lu's reincarnation and his journey in a new world as he struggles to retain what he deems as good about himself while taking benefits from the system. Wang Lu: "Villains die old, good people die faster! I'm such a good person, is this seeking death?" System: "??? ... You? A good person? Then everyone in this place is a saint!" "Aunt Meng! What is the name of this city? I read from the travel records that there are many cities in this world and some even have tall buildings where one can see the ocean while standing at the top?" He asked with excitement.
Wang Lu wasn't interested in the ocean. He just wanted to hear more about the martial arts experts and interesting legends about this city, but if he asked directly, she probably wouldn't tell him. He didn't know if he was imagining it, or was this woman a sadist. Everytime he asked something, she would talk about something else. He thought mentioning the ocean would really make this woman willing to share some interesting information.
He wanted to let her guard down and offer some information, but even if he didn't gain anything the journey was already not bad.
He had already realized that the way this city was built was not bad. Though he couldn't see any modern infrastructure, but he could still see activity. It was also possible to see that the people on the streets each seemed to be minding their own business.
"Worthy of being a cultivation world!" He didn't see everything clearly, but he didn't mind. Now that he had been allowed to leave the residence, he could see them anytime, no rush. He didn't realize it might be his last time in this city.
His sight continued to wonder around, and could see a massive restaurant. It was impossible to see the entire area it covered, but he still saw how massive it was and couldn't help but be shocked. But then after a few minutes, the old woman realized he didn't bother much to know about the city, she then started to talk.
"This is the Lu Tian city! It is all under the jurisdiction of the Lu clan. They are the strongest clan in the city with a great grandmaster expert!"
Upon hearing about the great grandmaster, he become attracted. But that was far from the thoughts in his mind that had been confirmed that this old woman was not right in her head.
He pushed aside the thought of wanting to hear more about a grandmaster and this was for the very reason, he assumed she might not know much.
He just observed her slightly, silently he was thinking , "Aunt Meng! I never knew you where that kind of person! No! I have to interact less with you in the future, or it might rub off on me!"
The carriage followed a certain path, it was obvious the coachman had been through this route many times. Sitting on the back, all kinds of things entered his eyes and made him very excited about this world. Deep down he was even wishing to see some martial artists make a move, he had forgotten that this would endanger him. But he was bound to be disappointed, after all this was a city. It was not just anyone that could set up a city. The deterrence of those in charge made it that no one would dare to start a fight especially martial artists, unless they were stronger than the person in charge of the city. If that was the case, then forget about seeing a fight, Wang Lu should just give up his life.
He wasn't allowed to go down the carriage after it stopped and only the old woman walked down. He continued to sit, looking through the curtains, only to see an old man. He resembled a scholar and at the same time a beggar. He wasn't sure if the old man was reciting poems or not, but he clearly heard him say something like, "Those who worship gods can never be gods!"
He repeated these words until his voice had become vague, clearly he was far away from Musk. Musk didn't even realize it but the words kept echoing in his mind. He looked in the direction the old man had left with a look of confusion. "Does this world also have gods? How come I have not heard a single thing about this or seen any religions! Strange! Is that old man alright in the head."
'Those that Worship the gods will never be gods!' he then thought of something he had once read from a novel in his previous life. "Those that go along with Heavens will, are all mortals! Those that go against the heavens will be Immortals!"
"Why did I suddenly think of this?" He didn't dwell on this issue much. He just thought that the entire city was interesting, other than that, he felt it was massive. What he even felt to be amazing was the massive horses that pulled the carriage, and he could feel that they had spirituality in their eyes. He just didn't dwell on the issue much.
It was only after the sound of someone entering the carriage was Wang Lu pullled out of his thoughts. He now felt slightly safe, realizing that the city he lived was far more calm and peaceful. What he didn't know was that he was just too weak to perceive any drama that was ongoing in the city. Just because one side was peaceful might not mean everyplace was peaceful.
The size of this city was massive. Lu Tian city was 15.5 miles, this alone wouldn't faze him, after all it was smaller than some cities in his previous life, but within this range, one had to calculate the number of grandmasters that had been put in place to maintain order.
Within a large city, if those in charge didn't take such an approach, it was hard to tell even if most of it was under chaos. The stronger the powerhouses, the massive the distance they could cover. Take an example of the Lu Tian city, though among the weakest cities, needed a large number of grandmasters. Each had to take responsibility for a certain range, and this was done with considerations. Below them a few masters also took charge, with human generals, commanders and soldiers to help.
Such a structure also clearly showed the difference in status between realms of experts.
The side of any city was based on the power of those behind the city. The logic was simple to understand, as a stronger backing , could easily provide stronger experts to guard the city.
The stronger the experts the fewer the numbers needed to guard large areas of a city. Experts were the only way that order could be maintained, after all in this world whoever has the strongest fist had the final say.
In such a case, a city could be a source of income, but also a source of chaos if one lacked enough strength to suppress it.
