Chapter #76

An: I might not be able to update daily since it's reaching the end of the month where my workload increases. Also I have been reading Witcher for the last six-seven weeks, it is getting boring at this point so a little break will be beneficial to me. Just FYI.

'How did it end up like this?' Zeno thought to himself as the Witcherverse version of Snoop Dogg passed him a blunt.

Zeno politely refused the offered drug and Snoop didn't care, less people to share meant more for him, still he passed the blunt to Dr. Dre who was actually a Barber Surgeon.

Ao was perched on his head trying to look cute and constantly apologizing for the misunderstanding.

Zeno didn't know what to do about the current situation, he barged in on their gathering in all his draconic form while they were rapping.

Even the song sounded like Still D.R.E. Thankfully Zeno was able to rein himself in after hearing the song and started to bob his head, pretending to be attracted to the song.

While Snoop and his people were getting high, Zeno stared at the Vila he was searching.

She looked exactly like Yue from Arifureta, just from that alone Zeno figured she must be half vampire. She fidgeted under his gaze and fixed the fur wrapped around her body to make sure she was covered.

"..." Zeno was speechless.

'Surely I don't look like a pervert. Does she have some sort of power that can discern people's nature?' Zeno thought.

[Isn't it because you're still in your dragon form!?] System was speechless. He figured Merlin finally managed to break Zeno's fragile sanity.

{So you agree that you are a pervert?} Ouryuu asked with a flat tone.

Soon, Snoop and Dre went back down the mountain, promising the little Vila to bring her more medicine which made Zeno curious.

"Sir? Are you not going with them?" Little Vila asked.

"Nah, I am actually here because I am looking for a place to settle down." Zeno replied as he turned back into his human form.

Vila was shocked, at first she figured Zeno was a flying serpent and didn't care about his color but legends about Golden Dragons are widespread amongst monsters.

This ability is only possessed by Golden Dragons. Little Vila shuddered in fear, the dragons around were not nice to her nor her mother.

"What part of me looks like those chicken brained dragon wannabes?!" Zeno said indignantly.

He had seen some dragons on his flight so it wasn't hard to guess her thoughts.

"Sorry." She apologized.

"Anyway, I ran into some Vilas on my way, they told me about you and your mother as well. Well, the actual story is a bit long, I'll tell you later." Zeno said.

The poor half-Vila naturally obeyed the laws of nature and didn't fight back and brought Zeno to her little abode.

Even before arriving Zeno smelled various medical plants and blood. It seems that her mother was not in a good condition.

"What happened to her?" Zeno asked while they were climbing up.

"It's hard to believe but she slipped..." She replied.

Zeno didn't sense any falsehood in that answer but knew that she wasn't telling the whole truth. Still he couldn't expect her to trust him right away considering she was terrified of him at the moment.

"By the way my name is Zeno, what is your name?" Zeno asked.

"I don't have one, my mother refused to give me, saying I need to find my father for it or someone else to give me one." The Vila answered.

"Would you like one?" Zeno asked.

"No." Vila answered.

"Then what is your mother's name? It is going to get confusing if neither of you have names." Zeno asked.

"Renia, my mother's name is Renia." She answered.

They reached the little cave where she lives with Renia. Once inside Zeno finally saw the Vila capable of bearing the child of another monster species.

Currently her head was wrapped with bandages, it was poorly made and from the looks of it was in dire need of changing.

"I will look at her injury, if you can bring me some water." Zeno sighed and said.

From the initial observation Zeno understood that she hit her head pretty hard, likely fell off a small cliff and banged her head on some rock.

Zeno didn't know whether she had a crack on her skull but the wound obviously got infected and she is running a fever.

'Well, fix what you can then research the rest.' Zeno figured.

Zeno also consumed some of her blood, it didn't give him a full understanding of her body but it had enough information to help him during the treatment.

Soon the Vila returned with an old pot filled with water, it seems that she only got her looks from her mother and the rest from her father.

Zeno quickly boiled the water while eating some of the herbs to turn them into the right medicines.

Not long after he applied it on Renia's head before wrapping it with clean bandages.

"Well, I did all I can. The bandages need to be changed regularly until her wounds heal completely." Zeno explained, making her sigh in relief.

"I don't know why you're helping us but thank you." She bowed her head before going to her mother's side.

To be honest Zeno was feeling awkward since he is quite aware that he is unconsciously treating her like family.

'Damn Merlin and his mind games. Wait... Did he do this so I can bang Artoria when I go to Type-Moon?' Zeno started constructing conspiracy theories in his head.

[...] System was speechless because he couldn't refute Zeno on this.

Zeno soon noticed she fell asleep, the ragged fur she had been wearing was draped over her mother leaving her nude and cold.

Zeno sighed as he made some blankets for the two with his biomass before leaving the cave.

He still needs to wait for Jean, he might as well play with Ao in the meantime.

Zeno found himself being dragged in the middle of the night, cracking his eyes a little he found the nameless Vila dragging him back inside the cave next to where she was sleeping with her mother.

Zeno pretended to wake up after he saw her trying to drape him with the blankets he made for them.

"What's going on?" Zeno asked, slurring his words to look like he just woke up.

"It's cold outside, you shouldn't sleep like this. I'll bring your horse as well." The Vila said.

"Wait, I am literally a dragon which means cold is nothing and Jean is a mutant horse. You don't have to worry about us." Zeno got up and flexed his muscles which for some reason made her giggle.

"I still want you all in the cave, nocturnal monsters might not scare you three but it would be a big problem for us." She said.

"Well, I'll call them over but don't worry about monsters. They won't dare to attack a witcher." Zeno assured her.

She stiffened at the word Witcher before she looked around presumably for his medallion.

"What did your mother tell you about Witchers. We don't kill harmless monsters, at least not my school." Zeno placate her.

"Weren't you a dragon, how come you become a witcher?" Vila looked at him suspiciously before saying.

"It is a long and personal story." Zeno shut her down.

Vila lowered her head with a sad expression, it seems that she too had treated him closer than they ought to be. In her case it was because Zeno treated her mother.

"Well, it may take months for your mother to heal completely. I'll hang around, maybe I'll tell my stories at that time." Zeno said. He couldn't bear the sight of a sad loli.

"Un!" Loli nodded with a smile before she dashed outside the cave.

Next thing Zeno saw was her hauling Jean on her back, Jean had a deadpan expression on her horse face. Meanwhile Ao was cackling like a loon while pointing at her.

"..." Zeno realized that she might not be much like Yue. It seems that the similarities end with appearances.
