Sword Arts Online: Darkness

What if the creator of Sword Arts Online had controlled Kirito and his friends, turning them into evil, and brought the game into the real world, turning it into a giant game world? Well, this is the situation where our ordinary protagonist Roxas Nietes, or Rohasu Nitama as his player name, had found himself. Being a foreign high school student living in Japan with his friends in a shared house owned by his school would make his life there difficult, but his intelligence on basically anything instead made him prepared and an actionist. He was an ambivert who loved music, art, writing, picture taking, philosophizing, and best of all, making scenarios of all kinds in his mind. So, the day before SAO was brought into the real world, Roxas had unknowingly received a mysterious-looking email from a player named Anko Tachibana, who was a deceased player. That email is a request for help because he, who knew Kirito and his friends before, wants someone to help them, who are now known as the Elite Players, snap from their state of being brainwashed by the game. Roxas accepted it after some thinking, but there’s one condition: he will be Anko’s vessel because Anko is now a spirit after his death in the game. To be free from Anko’s ghostly possession, he needed to complete the task in any way he could. Now that he was Anko’s vessel, what would Roxas do to do this big and seemingly impossible mission? Well, he will use his intelligence, ambivert personality, and scenario-making mindset to do it, plus action. That combination sounds ridiculous and unorthodox, but for him, it will be a good one. So, join him, Anko, and their friends in a now-altered reality fighting monsters and bosses across Aincrad-ridded Japan and getting into the Tower while trying to get Kirito and his friends out of their brainwashed state. But the dark side of Sword Art Online was slowly revealed as Roxas and his friends went deeper and deeper for their mission through their spirit guardians. One of them was the origins of Eugeo and Alice (This was what if Eugeo and Alice were once humans who were killed and were forced to be bots in the games?) Chapter 36 - Camping Out in Mount Tō

Third person POV

Friday night came, and Roxas and his friends are now planning to go on a weekend camping trip in the mountains. Many mountains within the Kanto region of Japan were considered, but one was eventually chosen: Mount Tō, in Susugaya, Kiyokawa, Aiko District, Kanagawa Prefecture. So, with that in mind, all of them packed their backpacks with essentials like food and emergency kits. At the same time, Roxas informed his family back in the Philippines about the camping trip and that he will be going with his friends. His family then accepted it and told him to be careful out there.

And then, Saturday morning came, and all of them were now on a train to Kiyokawa, Aiko District with their backpacks on their backs. The group of four had eaten a light breakfast at 7:12 a.m., before catching a train at 7:40 a.m. Roxas was looking forward, and the open-door side of his personality was turned on. Anko was also excited to camp out in the great outdoors with his vessel and his friends. Hideyoshi was also excited as well.

At 8:35 a.m., upon arriving at Banda Station, one of the nearest stations to Kiyokawa, all of them got off and took a bus to Kiyokawa. Along the way, they crossed the Shiomizu Bridge before arriving at Kiyokawa at 9:20 a.m. They all got off and went into the village itself first before trekking through the woods and mountainous terrain towards the foot of Mount Tō.

Arriving there, the group took a nice look at the mountains and the surrounding greens. Its cleanliness enamored Roxas, while Koyuki was already making a pencil sketch of the spot in her little, A6-sized sketchbook. Minato and Shuto took pictures of themselves in front of the mountain. Seeing that, Roxas pulled out his smartphone and took pictures of the mountain first, then himself. After that, he looked at Koyuki and asked her if she wanted to have a selfie picture of herself with him.

Koyuki blushed like crazy upon hearing that, but she eventually agreed. "Sure…"

With that, Roxas changed the position of his phone's camera to the front and pointed his phone at himself and Koyuki, who put a neutral, shy expression on her face.

"Okay, say cheese!" Roxas said to her.

Koyuki then smiled slightly, and Roxas snapped a picture out of it.

After that, Roxas took a look at their selfie picture together, which was nice and good. "Wow, you looked good in that picture, Koyuki-chan."

Koyuki blushed once again but managed to snap out and said, "Yes, thanks."

After all that, the four friends started searching for an appropriate and perfect spot to set up their small camp. After much finding, they found one and unloaded their belongings to set up their camp for the weekend. So, Shuto and Minato set up their and their friends' tents while Roxas and Koyuki scoured the surrounding areas to search for fallen tree branches to be used as firewood. The pair found some and put them in their inventories for later. Roxas was positive.

And then, Koyuki asked Roxas about the time he got killed by an Elite Player in the Koto City Tunnels. "Oh, that?" Roxas looked at her in response. "Yeah, I remembered that. That was quite lucky of me to have a spirit guardian within me."

Anko then came out of his body and said to Koyuki happily and enthusiastically, "Yup, and I was happy that he had accepted my request!"

Koyuki was taken aback by Anko's presence and became positive at him. "Oh, yeah, right, thanks for everything, Anko-kun. You really helped Roxas-kun a lot at that time."

"No problem," Anko replied with a quick smile, "it's my duty to protect him, of course."

Roxas was happy that his spirit guardian had conversed with Koyuki so well.
