Day 1

Opening up my eyes, I was instantly greeted by my mother's face. It seemed after I blacked out, my mother decided to give me a lap pillow.

'Oh my god, the legendary lap pillow.' I never thought I would ever get this experience, but I can now say for sure that it is beautiful.

"Sweetie! You're awake, good thing it only lasted a couple of minutes this time." My mother smiled while helping me sit up which was completely against what I wanted, but I wasn't about to stop my mother.

"Urgh, I didn't expect to pass out." Holding my head, I felt this weird fuzziness as information began to pop into my head.

"Usually you wouldn't, but I guess there is a lot of information in this scroll, so your mind must have been overloaded." The explanation my mother gave sounded reasonable, so I just assumed that was the case.

"I can definitely feel that, my head is spinning from all the information I was just fed." Everything that I needed to know filled my head and was almost too overwhelming for me. It was as if I had crammed the entire night before an exam and hadn't got any sleep.

It consisted of the time I needed to be there, where I have to go, what classes I have first, the map of the school, where the school is from my house and much more information.

"At least it worked, now you should probably eat before it gets too late." My mother using a little bit of magic pulled up what seemed to be a magical digital clock. It was weird to see something so modern to be done in such a foreign way, but it was handy.

[8:00 AM]

I had about 1 hour before I needed to be at school for the welcoming ceremony and judging from the map it will take me 30 minutes to walk there.

"Alright, thanks Mom." Getting up from the couch, I sat back down at the table and enjoyed my breakfast.

"No worries sweetie." My mother patted me on the head when she walked past me causing me to almost cry again. However, this time it was much easier to hold as I was getting used to the affection.

'I feel like a kid again.' It was an interesting feeling since I used to be 24, but now I seemed to be a teenager again. I didn't know if I was the same age and hoped that the magic academy was something like a university as being around people much younger sounded rather uncomfortable.

After finishing breakfast, I decided to make my way over to the school. I didn't want to accidentally get lost or end up stuck somewhere. I also doubled checked my bag and I indeed had everything I needed.

"I'll be going now Mom." walking up to what seemed to be the front door, I put on some sneakers which made me question again what time period I am in.

"Oh your hair!" My mother seemed to have forgotten something and quickly ran up to me with a hair tie. Once she was close, my mother turned me so my back was facing her and began to tie up my hair.

"I know you like your hair down, but trust me, you will wish to have it tied up." Gently pulling my hair to the back, my mother put it in a high ponytail. It was rather embarrassing having her do it for me, but I wasn't going to say no.

"There, now be safe and enjoy your day." My mother waved while giving a light pat on my back telling me that I was free to leave. My social anxiety instantly started to perk up as I was actually leaving for school.

"I will, cya later Mum." Nonetheless, I waved back and began my walk to school. Leaving the house I also finally got a better picture of the kind of place I was in.

It was as if I was walking in the streets of London with houses closely compacted together. The streets were filled with what looked like cars, but it was clear they were powered by some weird crystal which I could see in the window of some cars.

A few people were walking along the streets wearing almost similar clothes to my previous life, but there was a style of oldness to it.

I wanted to find out how I got here, but I was swept up in this new life it was hard not to just move along with it.

'Maybe I'm overthinking too much.' It was a great possibility that this was just my life now. No grand reason why I'm here and this is just a chance to live a better life. It definitely would be the ideal choice since I rather have a peaceful route than some hero's path.

'I should just focus on walking.' I was getting distracted by my existential crisis as well as the new environment causing my pace to be extremely slow.

After some more walking I started to see other students also making their way to the academy. I wanted to approach them, but even with a new life, my social skills were still as abysmal as they were in my old life.

'Urgh, I hope once I'm in class it will be better.' Praying that being in a proper class will help me communicate, I continued to walk behind so students.

The Academy was now clearly visible with it being a medieval castle which was no surprise to me. It would have shocked me more if it was a normal school building, but that was far from the case.

More students were also seen walking, but there was something strange about them. They all looked at me weirdly as if they were judging me which was rather confusing. I knew there was nothing wrong with my uniform as a lot of the other girls looked exactly the same.

'Why?' My head tried to run through the possibilities, but nothing made sense. I hadn't even said a word or even introduced myself, so what could possibly make them so… judgemental.

Walking through the gates of the school it only got worse with more eyes plastered on me. I confirmed it wasn't my race since there were many other kitsune among the students.

'Please stop looking at me.' I lowered my head and tried to make my way to the grand hall which was where I'm meant to be officially welcomed. Luckily by the time I navigated through the castle, the stares had stopped as I found myself in front of a massive door. Surprisingly the academy on the inside looked rather modern despite the medieval outside. To me, it felt rather jarring, but it gave me a sense of familiarity which was a welcome feeling.

Pushing my way through, I saw a bunch of students sitting in chairs talking amongst themselves. I was rather early so it was to be expected for it to be empty, I just hoped no one would bother me.

Remembering I had a certain seat number from the scroll, I walk down the middle looking for my seat. Eventually, I found it and just as I hoped I was seated by myself for the time being.

'Phew, I made it alive.' The walk to the academy was a lot more stressful than I thought. I had no idea why people treated me weirdly and I only hope that it was a temporary thing.

'I guess I will find out… hopefully.' I stared up at the roof lost in my own thoughts unable to shake off the feeling something wrong was going to happen.

<20 minutes later>

The hall was getting extremely full and the seats all around me were filled. However, this time none of the students didn't even bat an eye at me which confused me even more. But I took this as a blessing, hoping that people were just admiring my looks.

There was also a human girl? sitting next to me that would definitely attract more eyes. She had dark blue hair in a ponytail with a couple of dark blue feathers in said ponytail hinting she was some kind of bird race. I was able to see some piercings in her ear and a tiny one on her lower lip. A choker with a blue gem hanging off it was around her neck matching her bright blue eyes.

I also saw that she wore stockings that had a fishnet pattern which look rather cool. Her hands also had a fingerless glove that only wrapped around the base of her middle finger. Everything about this person screamed gothic, so I only hoped she was nice.

However, the girl would suddenly look directly at me making eye contact.

"You know I can see you staring." The girl spoke in a rather monotone way which added to the scary meter, but it seemed like she wasn't bothered.

"Oh sorry, I just thought you looked really cool. I didn't mean to stare for too long." I spoke the truth since I really did find all the accessories cool and sort of wished I had some.

My statement though would make the girl raise an eyebrow as if it was the first time someone has told her that.

"Really?" This time she spoke softer, clearly showing some hope and curiosity. In my mind, this was the perfect chance to make a friend since she didn't show any judgment on her face.

"Mhm." I nodded my head and the girl's face seemed to light up slightly.

"Oh great, my name is Lyra. What's yours?" The girl's attitude seemed to change from cold to very friendly. It was still very laid back, but it was in stark contrast to how she was before.

'Wait Lyra, What is she doing here??? Now that I think about it she looks exactly like her… Also the same voice.' I instantly became uneasy as just before I was transported it seemed that Lyra was a part of the reason why I'm here.

'No that can't be right, I'm sure that was a coincidence and whatever was speaking to me was just using her voice since Lyra was my only friend in my past life.' Rationalising everything in my head helped me calm down and allow me to introduce myself normally… again.

"Ah, my name is Saki." It felt weird to introduce myself to someone I possibly already knew, but it only meant that I 100% could be friends with her.

"That's a lovely name, what class are you in?"

"Haha thanks, I believe I am in 1-C." Recalling back to the scroll, I assumed the room I had to go to after the ceremony would be my class, so I hoped that was the case.

"Me too! Well did you want to sit together then? I haven't really made any friends." Lyra offered her friendship which put my mind at peace since so far it hadn't been a warm welcome so far.

"Of course, I also haven't made any either."

"AHEM! May I have everyone's attention!"
