"Correct, I did," Caesar admitted, shrugging.
Adeline blinked, tilting her head. "Why?"
Caesar raised a questioning brow at her. "Because of you."
"What?" She was genuinely taken aback. "Because of me?"
"Why else would I?" Caesar was confused, unsure why the question. Was there any other reason he would have done so?
"Well…" The words were stuck in her throat. "It's just... You surely wouldn't kill for me, at least not your-"
"Come here." Caesar pointed down at the space in between his spread thighs. "Sit."
Adeline was a bit hesitant, but she did crawl over, tuning to sit down, her back pulled flush against his chest.
He wrapped a hand around her neck, tilting her head to make her look at him. "Tell me what made you come to that assumption."
