Selena's eyes widened. On the couch, Daniella was sitting with her head leaned on Evan's shoulder. Her hair was white as snow and so as her face. Lips dry and cracked while her irises were pitch-dark.
"Are you real?" Selena rushed to her auntie, then held her hand and pinched it lightly to make sure that she's not dreaming. Daniella was so petite, she could almost feel her bones.
Selena's eyebrows creased, wondering what happened to her auntie.
"I heard someone's pregnant, who is it?" out of nowhere, Alexandria appeared. She's holding a cup with hot water inside.
Upon hearing it, Selena's face paled. She turned to Killian and waited for him to speak but he just stood there like a statue.
No one knew about her situation aside from Killian and she was not prepared to share the news to her family.
"Excuse me!" Selena rushed downstairs to the café dragging Killian with her.
Alexa rose a brow watching her cousin running downstairs as if someone was chasing her. Then, she handed the cup to her mother and sat next to her.
"Mom, are you alright?" she asked with worried. She had never seen her mother in this state and watching her pale face and thin body made her want to cry.
Her mother just nodded her head and asked her father to bring her to the room. Alexa wanted to talk more but she understood that her mother needed to rest.
"We will go to school now and I will look after Louisa so you don't have to worry mom," this was the least Alexa could do. Her mother was sick and the action she did from when she disappeared was eating her alive.
Her mother replied with a smile. When their figure disappeared, Alexa pulled her sister Louisa who was sitting under the stairs polishing her skulls towards the couch.
"Isa, maybe we should hide all your toys. And maybe you can try to be normal while mom is recovering. We can start with your bangs," Alexa had her fingers tousling Louisa's bangs as she spoke.
Louisa frowned, her cheeks blew out in annoyance.
Then she got up. When Alexa tried to stop her, she glared at her hand holding her arm.
Alexa withdrew her hand, Louisa's glare sent shivers down her spine, crawling her skin. Despite being her sister, Alexa was still scared of her.
Meanwhile. Walking along the hallway on the third floor, Ethan halted. He had his uniform on which was clean and neatly ironed.
He peeked at the slightly opened door of his parent's bedroom. Then his eyes narrowed, he saw his mom lying in the bed while his father settled next to her.
There was sadness in their expression. Ethan wondered what could be wrong. He thought once he's mother was back; everything would be back to normal.
He pushed the door opened, gently as he didn't want to startle them.
"Ethan, what's wrong?" His mother asked in a weak voice.
He walked closer to the bed. Starting to question himself as well.
"Are you fine mom?" he held his emotion. He just didn't want to sound like a little boy in front of his sick mother.
