PROLOGUE

Deryll was sitting in the Katz family's library reading a book on ice magic and in front of him more than 9 books related to magic were neatly placed which he had apparently completed reading during the whole day. He finally finished the book related to ice magic and sighed deeply, after that he placed all the 10 books back to their respective places. The Katz family's maids who were currently serving Deryll were all looking at him with gazes full of pity, Deryll has been reading 10 books everyday for the last 10 months and even after all those he was never satisfied, the reason for that was known to everyone in the Katz family, whether it was the Patriarch or a servant. Deryll went back to his room after spending the whole day in the library and was laying down in his bed thinking about something deeply and no one in the world could have guessed what Deryll was thinking, even a year ago Deryll himself never thought that he would have to think about these things.

I was lying in the bedroom after completing my daily routine of reading 10 books from the library every day. Even after having lived in this world for a year, I still find it a bit difficult to adjust to this new life. I started thinking about what happened a year ago.....

1 year ago, Deryll's POV

The game Evocraze came out in the year 2030 and it quickly started becoming popular. Within an year it became the most played game globally and also became the most successful video game in the history of all games, it had all the things a gamer would want in a game. It had one of the best action scenes, the best characters and the most creative concept in the whole gaming industry. This game was based in a fantasy world and it consisted of things like Magic, Swordsmanship, Academy, Demons, Elves, Dragons ,etc.

The most innovative thing in the game that caught the attention of gamers was that it did not have a Protagonist, all the characters in the game were playable except for the final bosses and the users of the game could control any character whether it was a strong character or weak character.

The only problem in the game was that it was an insanely difficult game. Even if anyone was controlling the strongest character in the game, it would still take a lot of hard work to finish the game after defeating all the Bosses. That's why it was also known as the Hellish Game Evocraze. Many people believed that it was impossible to complete the game with a weak character because of the difficulty but all these people were proved wrong when the pro gamers were able to finish the game using the weak characters, this was made possible because all the characters had hidden potential in them which could turn even the weak characters into strong one, the only difficulty was that it was a bit hard to find a way to unlock the hidden potential of the characters.

After the game was released the professional gamers took it upon themselves to finish the game using all the characters and also figuring out how to unlock the hidden potential so that average gamers could also try to finish the game using weak characters. I was also one of those pro gamers who completed the game using various characters and I never got bored even after playing the game regularly for a year.

After an year, everything that the pro gamers figured out about how to complete the game using various weak and strong characters from playing this game repeatedly was compiled together and it was published online as a guide for the new players to complete the game using all the characters except for one character. Even after countless attempts no one could figure out how to unlock the hidden potential of the character named Deryll Katz, the youngest son of the Katz family, One of the 6 powerful families. Hence no one was able to finish the game using the character Deryll Katz.

He was branded as the weakest character with no talent in Magic or Swordsmanship and was also deemed as the most useless character in the game.

I was a typical nobody. I spent all my time playing video games. I had no family, no friends and the only thing that kept me going was my love for video games.

At one point in my life I was actually pretty successful, I had learnt all the fighting techniques like judo, martial arts, etc and I also excelled in studies. I had a pretty stable job and I also taught children the fighting techniques I had learnt as a hobby. Everything was going good until my company went bankrupt and I was left with no money. I almost gave up on life but the video games kept me going as I always enjoyed playing them. When Evocraze came out, it was almost like heaven for me who enjoyed video games, it was an extremely addicting and perfect game for gamers like me. After an year of playing the game I also contributed in forming the guide for the new players to complete the game using various different characters. Like many other people I was also curious about how to unlock the hidden potential of the character Deryll Katz, I also kind of related with him as I was also a useless person in this world now and by sheer coincidence we even had the same name 'Deryll'. I couldn't help but try again and again to figure out how to unlock Deryll Katz's hidden potential. One day when I was playing the game as usual something strange happened, I was going to try to unlock the hidden potential of Deryll once again on that day but when I tried to control Deryll in the game, an ominous message appeared on my screen saying

"Do you wish to actually experience Deryll Katz's life?"

I didn't really think much of it and clicked on the 'Yes' button but what happened afterwards shocked me to my core.

I somehow instantly lost my consciousness and when I finally regained my consciousness I saw a room which did not belong to me but it was certainly a room that I was all too familiar with.....

Yes it was the room of the character Deryll Katz and when I looked into the mirror, I figured out that I was indeed possessing the body of Deryll Katz.

It was all too shocking for me, I only saw it in fantasy novels where a real person possessed a character in a game or in another novel. I always thought it was pretty cool but after experiencing it myself, I was completely horrified. I pinched myself multiple times hoping that it was a dream but it was to no avail. I had to accept the fact that I am now currently possessing the character named Deryll Katz, who was the weakest and the most useless character in the whole game Evocraze.
