New Addition to the Team

Returning to camp, Theo asked Amethyst to send her ghost scout partner to the camp of the player they had found. And that he would give a preliminary report of his forces, with details such as race, number, and approximate combat strength. He wanted to attack this player to get more resources and also eliminate the competition in the survival game. Theo knew that many players were already doing this on the world stage, and for now he was the first in this region to attack other players.

Knowing that gathering this information would take at least a day or two, he decided to focus for the rest of the day on learning how to use the sword. Since his rapier was different from the double-edged swords used by the undead, he realized he would have to undergo different training. His weapon was more suitable for quick thrusts and cuts, while the skeletons' weapons were for parrying, cutting, and stabbing, being much more complete in terms of diversity of attacks, but he preferred the rapier because it was light.

Despite all the levels he gained, and the points he put into his strength and dexterity stats, Theo knew he wasn't meant to fight with a weapon that weighed as much as those swords. In the games, he was able to use them because they weren't his real body, but in reality, he was unable to use them even if he tried for a long time. His rapier only required speed and precision, things that were easy to train in his opinion, yet his training was rigorous, and he even faced his skeletons in simulated fights.

When night arrived, Theo met with his subordinates and Copper for dinner, that's when he discovered that Copper was even bigger than yesterday and his body already had some muscles visible. He then opened his information and realized that Copper had gone up another level, while he was attacking the village today, and because he was receiving a lot of notifications, he didn't notice this one in question.

He had already noticed that after leveling up, his monkey companion would grow a little more and become stronger, this was something he still didn't understand the reason for. And he intended to ask Alika if she had any idea why this happened, but that wouldn't happen this night. As he retired to his house to sleep, he was surprised by an attack by some birds on his watchtower where Ranger was, and he killed one every few minutes. So it wasn't such a big threat, but because he had a large number of birds, he asked his skeletons to reinforce the attack by throwing wooden spears that he had made for occasions like this.

With the order given, he retired to sleep, and in the morning he would collect everything after doing his morning ritual. The night passed slowly, and Theo slept very little, as the noise of deaths lasted for a long time, and despite trying in many ways to ignore it, he had no such luck.

With the arrival of morning and the sun, he woke up from the brief sleep he had, and then he got up and started to wash, and soon Copper was by his side. He had better luck and slept as soon as he lay down, unlike Theo. After washing and giving his partner some affection, he went to the mausoleum and made the day's recruitment, gaining 2 more skeletons, a warrior and an archer. With this new archer, he could create a new watchtower to place on one side of the camp, increasing its security.

After this thought, he sent his skeletons to collect the resources to make the tower, and as soon as he completed this project, he ordered the archer to be there on standby, taking care of security. So he headed to the dumping site for the bodies that were being hunted. When he got there, he saw the birds that attacked his camp the night before and didn't let him sleep.

He approached one of the bodies and kicked it for a long time, taking out his frustration at not being able to sleep properly. Amethyst who appeared next to him, had a worried expression on her face, trying to understand what was wrong with her master. After his anger was vented, he looked at his trusted unit to tell him that he was fine and didn't need to worry. Theo then started collecting and gained many resources, like meat and feathers, from which he realized birds didn't give fur, only feathers and meat.

They didn't even have bones, teeth, or claws like common animals did, and after that, he continued his training with the sword in the morning, and in the afternoon, he studied and trained magic with Alika. Night came quickly, and with it the news Theo was waiting for about the nearby player, the scout made his report to Amethyst, and she came to give him the information. After hearing the news, his face displayed a huge smile that showed how excited he was after hearing it, it was really everything he wanted to know and more.

The units were forest wolves that used pack tactics to win fights, but there were only 15 of them left after the disaster, and that was only half of the units Theo had, the wolves didn't seem very strong individually. There was no type of protection around the camp, and the wolves were all this player's safety, his house was a small wooden one. With all this information, Theo thought it would be a good idea to carry out a night attack and surprise the player so as not to give him time to escape.

Theo wanted to make one more player his unit if he didn't take the blood oath, he wanted to train a mage or a tank that could protect him during battles. He sent Kornel to capture the player and bring him back alive, even if he was unconscious. Having a tank would help a lot during battles, as he wouldn't have to worry so much about attacks and could focus on casting spells.

His units left quickly, following his orders, and Amethyst assured him that before the night was over, Kornel would be back with the lord of the enemy camp. Theo simply nodded to her, knowing that his orders would be carried out with maximum efficiency and speed. Kornel had already told him that, if necessary, he would make a blood oath to Theo to continue serving him throughout his life and beyond if he wanted to do so.

As said before the night even ended, with only two hours left until dawn, Kornel entered the camp carrying a strange volume on his shoulder that Theo assumed was the fainted player. He probably didn't want to come of his own free will, and his subordinate must have put him to sleep, so he could bring him without much effort.

Theo woke him up with some water throwing on his face, he was a man of about 30 years old at most, with a well-defined body, showing that he must have spent a good amount of his life training. He had light blue eyes, was blond, and his hair looked an unnatural yellow. He was wearing tattered clothes that were supposed to be the same as the ones he came into this world with, but it could be said that they were once chic casual clothes.

When he woke up, the first thing he did was look at Theo and show him an angry and disgusted expression. Then he noticed that they were not alone, the beastmen who captured him was beside him, ready to stop him if he tried anything. But the mere presence of that female ghost was enough to stop him from even considering doing anything.

"Why did you bring me here? If you're going to kill me, you can do it quickly and painlessly, I don't have many resources, and I don't think I'll work for you like a slave. That is totally out of the question." He said.

"You can swear a blood oath that if you break it, you will die in extreme agony, and become a subordinate instead of a slave. I will give you the chance to get a tanking class, as well as level up and learn some magical skills if you have the talent for it. If you don't want to take the oath, I will kill you and bring you back as a skeleton, and you will work for me, so I suggest you choose wisely and keep your life." I explained his situation to him.

"Then I have no choice, I will work for you anyway. Tell me, why did you decide to attack other humans like you? Doesn't that bother you?" He questioned.

"I've seen what humans are capable of to get what they want, and I don't feel sorry for anyone who doesn't have my loyalty. I know that if you were the stronger of the two of us, you wouldn't hesitate to attack either of us. So let's not talk about it and choose what your life will be like from now on." He told him, cutting off all the talk of guilt for attacking his fellow man.

"I already said I won't work for you, so if you can, do it quickly." He responded after thinking for a while.

Granting his last wish, Theo removed his rapier from his belt, and with a quick and accurate thrust, he plunged it into the player's heart, killing him instantly. Without any suffering other than the pain of the blow, which quickly disappeared with his consciousness.

After that, the notifications came, and Theo could choose between a warrior and a skeleton without any profession or class, as he wanted to train his new addition to the team himself, he chose the skeleton without a profession.
