I wasn't sure how much time passed, but it felt like the sky got dark.
I heard rustling in the wooden hut right behind me and prayed that somebody would stick their blade into my head.
It felt like everything I once knew was dead.
I knew they were fake... but they begged me in the same tones they used when Raven took our base under his control.
That experience... it was rising from deep within. It was reminding me of what it was like to be hopeless. Everything I gained, all that courage, was put to rest and made useless by whoever put my friends in front of me, and who killed them in front of me as well.
That wasn't me, it couldn't have been. I wouldn't have killed them... something has control of me.
Right...? Something has to...
Please... tell me that wasn't me...
I couldn't even cry. I felt nothing. I was an empty vessel now that my friends were gone. My look was vacant. I was staring at their bodies, but I felt like I was looking right through them.
What have I done... I got them all killed. I killed them all.
What if that was everybody? What if I just killed Sky... and Alex... and all of my friends... what if they were captured and brought here and I killed them.
I can't even live with that thought, it made me want to puke.
"CHARLIE!" I heard Orion scream out.
It was pitiful, desperate, and annoying.
He moved over the hut frantically, flipping furniture from within, and once he finally jumped out of the window to see the bodies, he looked around, finding me drenched in the blood of my old comrades, and with a sorrowful look on his face.
"HEY! Look at me! That was Genesis, not you! These are all illusions, do not believe them! Look at me man! You're okay, this is all fake, they weren't real!" He shouted at me.
His words were going right through me.
Orion couldn't have known they were all fake... I think I did just kill all of my friends.
"Dammit... DAMMIT! Genesis does this to everybody! He did this to me as well! He killed my wife Charlie! He ruined me! This is what he does! DO NOT LOSE YOURSELF! NOT LIKE I DID!" Orion screamed at me, and just when I started to believe it was hopeless, his words started to break through.
They couldn't pierce my mind though.
"Genesis... he put a red-haired child in front of me... her name was Mizu... my wife and I raised her and when the time came, Nova pinned a crime on me with Genesis and they killed my wife... they killed her in cold blood! I lost myself after that... I used people as tools to get my revenge... I was emotionless, up until my death, and I didn't see anything in people anymore. I enjoyed this life and everything in it that helped me forget about my wife's death. Becoming a different man is what changed me. Do not let Genesis win again... please, Charlie," Orion pleaded, crouching down in front of me with tears falling from his eyes.
"But... I killed them all... they were innocent... just trying to defend their homes... like I was... I strolled in here and killed them all... they were innocent..." I mumbled, staring at the blood caking my arms in a thick, goopy substance.
Orion grabbed onto my arm and pulled me onto my feet. I couldn't feel my legs, but he stabilized me and eased me into the strength it took to stand.
"This is it... all of them are dead... we can leave this place now... let's leave..." Orion said, pulling my arm even more.
My eyes wouldn't leave Sky's body... I couldn't help but realize that I ruined it all.
I wanted to be worth enough for him, but I mindlessly killed him and stomped his head into the ground until there was nothing left. All of those memories we made, all of those things he told me... it was all for nothing.
I killed him.
I couldn't handle that thought and closed my eyes, keeping them tightly shut, and trusting Orion to lead me to someplace... somewhere... anywhere but here...
Dani can't even hurt me, she can't kill me... because I killed her too.
I killed Alex...
I killed Mandi...
I killed everybody...
I can't live with myself, I can't be conscious.
This was fake, it has to be, it's not real, just calm down...
"Look! The doors... they've opened! We can leave now Charlie!" Orion shouted out.
Ever so slightly, my eyes slowly opened by just a crack, and I could see a big set of metallic doors in front of me, opened wide enough to fit two people within.
"We can escape, we did it Kiddo," Orion told me.
I instantly pushed him away and brandished my axe in front of him.
"You're Genesis... this is another trick... YOU WON'T GET ME IN THERE!" I screamed out at Genesis.
"Charlie... it's not Genesis... it's me, Orion. Don't let him win..." The fake Orion mumbled. I scoffed, slowly moving inside the metal doors.
"I have a lot of questions for you, Genesis. Join me in here with your hands behind your back," I demanded from the fake Orion.
"Sure thing... I won't move, and you can have my weapon. Just don't hurt me, I'm not Genesis," The fake Orion told me.
"You... you're the reason I killed my friends... I'll kill you... I'll gut you and hang you with your innards. I will torture you until there's nothing left of your brain," I said with a grim look on my face.
I kept my eyes stuck on the fake Orion. I wouldn't even blink. There was a chance he could escape, and I won't let that happen.
I'm going to kill him... I can't deal with this pain...
In the sharp surges I got of Sky and Mandi in my mind, I winced and gripped the axe even tighter.
I want to make this guy suffer so badly.
