Disliked by the Mother-in-Law

Everyone in the living room looked at Danera and Zayn.

Danera tried to smile but didn't know how to answer the question. She wrung her hands nervously, thinking about how to answer the question, and glanced at Zayn.

Zayn's face remained expressionless. "I have urgent work to take care of. The honeymoon can be done sometime."

"You're always so busy at work, Doriane must be feeling lonely and looking for another man if you don't spend much time with her," Janeth said in a joking tone, but it had an impact on the Wilde family members.

Danera frowned. Janeth was obviously targeting her to humiliate her. She glanced at the look on Zayn's face. After all, Doriane had run off with another man and left Zayn on their wedding day.

Emily and Joyce's expressions didn't look good either.

Janeth bit her lower lip in annoyance and jealousy. This always happened; it was always Doriane who was defended.

Leticia, who had been silent, tried to speak up to break the ice. "Doriane looks even prettier in that dress. I'm jealous that she's so pretty." She smiled at Danera.

Joyce said in a sarcastic tone. "Yes, better than the shabby clothes she was wearing earlier. But she's not as pretty as you, Leticia. Why would you be jealous of her."

"Hahaha, don't joke around. Of course, Doriane is beautiful and seems like a nice woman. Otherwise, how could Zayn fall in love and marry her?" Leticia said softly as she glanced at Zayn and sighed.

"If only you had come earlier before we knew Doriane, you might have been the one Zayn would have married." Joyce glanced at Danera with a sardonic look.

She was still angry that Doriane had run off with another man and humiliated her older brother. Zayn still had to marry her twin sister to cover up the scandal, making Joyce hate Danera so much.

"Joyce ...." Zayn glanced at his sister with a warning look.

"Am I wrong? You and Leticia were very close as children; you even promised to marry her after Leticia had been treated abroad. Did you forget that promise?"

Danera's eyes flickered to stare at Zayn and Leticia in slight surprise.

Emily and Mrs. Cooper also heard their conversation.

"I remember we promised to set our children up together. But then Zayn got married to another woman. I feel bad for Leticia."

However, Mrs. Cooper doesn't listen to her and faces Emily with a sad expression.

"It's not that I want to bring up the past. But we only have Leticia as our only child. She doesn't want to go abroad to study, but Zayn has promised to marry her if Leticia wants to study abroad. Leticia is trying so hard to study that she doesn't even want to hear about Zayn so she can focus on her studies."

"Mom, that's enough. It was just a childhood promise. We were kids back then. Please don't embarrass me in front of Zayn." Leticia said pleadingly to her mother. She looked at Emily and Danera with an apologetic expression.

But her mother felt unfair to her and continued with her words. "I know it's just a child's promise, but Leticia took it seriously. She was heartbroken when she heard that Zayn had a girlfriend and didn't want to come home to this country for years. When Zayn got married, she was heartbroken but still tried to come to congratulate him on his marriage. I apologize if this offends anyone, especially Zayn's wife."

Danera kept her calm when she heard their conversation. It had nothing to do with her anyway. Once Zayn decided to get a divorce, she would go quietly. Everyone only knew her as Doriane.

Emily heard that and sighed inwardly. It would have been better if Leticia had come earlier. Then Zayn would have married her, not Danera.

She took Leticia's hand and said affectionately. "We're not angry; I'm also sorry for giving you empty after saying that, she glanced at Danera with a cold gaze. "I apologize on behalf of Zayn. This must be hard for you. We don't agree with their marriage either, Doriane-"

"Mom." Zayn suddenly spoke up to cut Emily off.

"When is dinner served? Isn't Grandma coming today?" Zayn said expressionlessly as if their conversation did not affect him.

Leticia's expression looked awkward and embarrassed, and Mrs. Cooper looked unhappy.

"I'll call your grandma. If she doesn't come, we can start dinner." Emily replied with a sigh. When thinking of her mother, the look on her face was rather unhappy.

"Who says I'm not coming."

A voice suddenly interrupted.

Everyone turned their heads to see the figure of an old woman entering the living room. Although she looked in her seventies, her face still looked youthful, and her body was very straight, with a dignified aura radiating from her figure.

Danera widened her eyes in surprise when she saw the old woman. The woman looked more dignified and elegant in a very fashionable white suit, not the eccentric, colorful clothes like last afternoon.

"Mother ...." Emily stood up to greet her. But her face looked flat as she looked at Alisha.

"I thought you wouldn't come because you didn't give any news. Everyone was waiting for you."

"I still have work to take care of." Alisha reasoned, then looked at the guests in the living room. "Why are there so many people? Do you have other family? Or are they your husband's family?"
