Growing

Years have passed since the revelation at the spring festival.

After realising the world he was in, Lux started recounting everything he remembered about Supreme Magus. Which was a task in itself, considering by the time of his death the web novel had hit two thousand chapters that added up to millions of words in total.

There was a lot of information that slipped past him while he was reading it, and after dying twice and living as a baby, a webnovel from his previous life wasn't at the forefront of his mind.

The worst thing was he couldn't even write down what he remembered either. Paper's like gold in this world, and his mother had a grand total of zero in the house. Even if she had any it's not as if she'd let a child use it.

All he could do was constantly run though everything in his mind to commit it to memory. It was like he was back at school studying for a test.

Though, growing up did come with its fair share of benefits. Being big enough to walk, talk and most importantly not shit himself was an enlightening experience. The days of having someone else wipe his arse and change his clothes are long gone, but the memories will continue to haunt him for the rest of his lives.

When his hair grew in, his mother noticed the black locks had streaks of white running through them. Signifying Lux's attunement to the light element, he was the talk of the farm for a while, since it was rare for a boy to have streaked hair.

Lux wasn't sure what the white streaks meant in the grand scheme of things, because to his knowledge, Mogar blessed every reincarnator in his world with a beast life force to keep the abomination at bay.

Being a reincarnator himself means that he should have these lifeforces as well, so he wasn;t sure if the white streaks affected all his life forces, or only affects his human life force.

Today was a good day, Willow was finally letting him leave the house unaccompanied. Lux turned four a few weeks ago, but over his birthday the village and surrounding areas were hit with a heavy storm, postponing his escapade.

She wanted him to go and make friends or something.

'Fuck that for a laugh. I'd sooner hang myself than put up with kids for the next few years.' Lux thought.

He was finally getting a bit of freedom, no way he's going to waste it by putting up with a bunch of daft children. Better off doing something more practical, finding a place to practice magic that would otherwise blow up his house if a mistake was made.

"Remember and stay safe sweetie. If anything happens you come straight back here. Do I make myself clear?" Willow stated firmly.

"Yes mum." Lux replied, despite knowing he was in for a walloping if she finds out he plans to go into the mountains. Most of the cautionary tales were based on the mountains beside the village, the normally go alone the line of mountains = bad.

That's the watered down version, some of the tales are brutal, like the old fairy tales you got back on earth before political correctness was a thing. Only in the Mogar version, little red riding hood's being stalked by a Ry and the Ry doesn't bother talking before ripping her head off.

Seriously, it's like they're trying to terrify the kids.

Leaning in to kiss his forehead, Willow sent him off, "Good, now you go and enjoy yourself."

After waving at his mother, Lux ran for the door.

"Remember and come back for lunch!" Willow reminded him.

Stepping outside the house, Lux shouted "I will!" in a voice so estranged from his old one it still made him feel uncomfortable.

In order to not arouse his mother's suspicions, he made sure to go past the neighbours houses within view before darting off as soon as he was sure she couldn't see him from the window.

His house was about two-ish miles away from the mountains, so a considerable distance for a four year old body.

But one word solves this problem. Magic.

After triple checking that no one would see him dashing for the treeline, Lux began to infuse himself with air magic in a practised manner. Instead of giving the mana form as he would do to use a spell, he directly fused the mana with his core, infusing himself with air magic.

HIs body became lighter, his reflexes became sharper and the world around him seemed to slow down slightly. Bounding towards the mountains, his small body darted around at an absurd pace.

Movement was so easy with air fusion, lit was like he was a living bolt of lightning, because that's what it felt like. The electrical impulses that controlled his body were working in overdrive to allow him to stay in control while moving this fast.

Before he knew it he was past the tree line, skidding across the ground in an attempt to prevent a crash. Narrowly avoiding the thick tree in his path, he fused with the water element as well, to grant his body extra flexibility which helped him traverse the uncharted path with relative ease.

The wild animals at the cusp of the forest disappeared into the foliage in his presence, but Lux didn't care. He wasn't coming here for a game, he came here to find something else, a hiding spot.

For the next hour Lux searched the forest for a place to hide some sensitive information. Of course he had to take quite a few breaks to rest and use Invigoration. Even though magic made getting about easier, it put a strain on his body and core.

Eventually, Lux arrived at the bottom of a cliff that was well hidden by the surrounding plant life. On the rocky slope, there was a tight fissure that led inwards, making sure to check for any animal tracks, Lux walked down the crevice.

It continued for a good ten metres before opening up into a pitch black room. Creating a ball of light with first magic to illuminate the area, the darkness vanished and revealed the dry stone filled room to Lux.

'This is the place' Lux decided.

This place ticks all the boxes for hiding things, sure it's missing… everything to hide if for Mages, but he'll get to that eventually.

Standing face to face with one of the stone faces, he began to smooth the surface with Magic, preparing it so he could carve writing on the wall.

While doing that, he inwardly thought it through. He wasn't even sure if he should write it down, the things he knows are enough to have the entirety of Mogar on his ass, bar maybe the guardians.

Scratch that, even if they'd be after him. He's not sure what time period he's been reincarnated in, but if the Master's up to his usual abomination shenanigans, the guardians will want to send him and anyone who knows about them to an early grave.

That's a long shot though, what Lux is more paranoid about is someone finding out he knows the method to get both a purple and a white core. The first of which being a guarded secret for all the elders on the awakened council.

The second being something so few people had, that from what he can recall, there's only six people who can actually boast of having a white core. All of which don't seem too keen on sharing their secret with the world.

If it leaks to an awakened that he knows how to gain the white core, Lux might as well kiss the life good bye. Better off committing suicide than being stuck in a lich's lab for who knows how long.

Shit man, Mogar's scary as fuck if you know where to look.

But if he writes everything in English, that's as good a failsafe as anything if someone find his hideout. The only other person who should know how to speak it is Lith, and Lux isn't even sure if Lith was a thing in this world.

Jotting everything down would prevent him from forgetting anything, and it would give him something to come back to every once in a while to refresh his memory. Even better, it would nullify the need for the memory exercises he does every day.

Now with a flat wall, and his decision made, Lux started to carve words into the stone using earth magic. Starting with the most significant pieces of information and events.
