Chapter 19: Nobles Banquet (1)

Even though he had been to that place several times, Arthur still felt unfamiliar. The Blue Sea Bar was a busy bar on weekends. This time, he felt it was a mistake to visit the place on a weekend.

"You, the troublemaker from the other day?"

Two big body men confronted him at the door. They were people who had watched the previous events, but had not seen the aftermath.

Arthur irritably replied, "Yes, this time I've become a special guest. Get lost."

The two people laughed scornfully. "Where are you from? You are so confident in having so much money. Other than the Rudolf Household, there are no nobles who exceed their wealth."

'That's me, damn it. I don't want to show my identity.'

Just as he was about to address them, someone arrived. He was one of the people waiting.

"What's the fuss here?"

Roby appeared behind Arthur, still in his assassin outfit. There was some blood on his chest and neck, like he had been on a mission.

Upon seeing Arthur, Roby said, "Move aside, he's K-Night's guest of honor. Don't get in the way!"

Hearing that, the two big body men were immediately stunned. Arthur gave them both the middle finger before following Roby inside.

'Take that, you two bald bastards!'

Arthur followed Roby to the front of the bartender's table again. Since that place was the furthest away, anyway, the bartender there was the future executive of K-Night according to Roby.

"You guys... Master-nim has arrived in the upper room. You can go straight upstairs."

That two man nodded after being told so. In Assassin Guild K-Night, those who called Dean Volton "Master" meant that they were not people who usually interacted directly. Those who called him "Leader" were usually members who had frequent direct interactions, such as executive members.

Arthur followed Roby upstairs, usually upstairs was just an impromptu inn. However, the bar used the upper floor for staff quarters. So, there were no customers on the second floor.

The door opened and revealed Dean looking at the window. That man only glanced at the two for a moment, before looking out again. Roby closed the door completely.

Arthur immediately spoke, "Hey, have you figured out what I'm doing yet?"

Dean looked at Arthur first for a moment in silence, then shifted gazes again. "Yeah, I know."

'This cool guy ....'

"Then, do you know that a member of the royal family has already accepted the proposal?" Arthur asked impolitely again.

"In two days at the latest, the royal family will contact the nobles for the new annual event. Then you will probably get an invitation before that."

Just as he was about to ask what the invitation was, Dean showed him a notebook. Arthur walked over to him and took the book.

Dean looked at Roby. "Roby, you can report the purpose of your visit now."

Roby nodded and began to speak, "I killed a spy from another guild that was around Count Rubel and disguised myself as that spy. Count Rubel's proposal was accepted because of the rumors and he was spied on by the Crown Prince for fear of him finding out and spreading the demon race summoning plan to the public."

"Even though Count Rubel was one of the young nobles who was not informed of the summoning. So, I reported to them that Count Rubel was only filling his activities according to his personal schedule." Roby clearly recounted his report.

Arthur commented, "He will definitely be made a scapegoat. If someone who knew about the summoning plan is made the scapegoat responsible for the summoning, he might testify and drag in all the nobles involved, including the Crown Prince. He is definitely very smart."

'And the ritual failed because the summoned one was not a demon race, but a transcendent human. The Crown Prince tricked the nobles into saying the ritual failed in order to exploit Yoon Dalmi, and made Count Rubel a scapegoat to stop the protesting nobles.' Arthur only commented in thought afterwards.

He looked at the book he was holding, then asked Dean. "What is this book?"

"You can just open it without asking. That's what you want to ask now." Coldly, Dean answered Arthur's question.

'This cool man ....'

Arthur opened the book. Even though he hadn't asked yet, Dean had already prepared what to ask. It was a summary of him out there.

Dean felt strange. "It could be for my guild. However, there are many guilds out there selling the same information. It's not easy to stop that. Even if the entire wealth of the Senova Empire helps you, it still can't because the power of information is the mouth and ears of the people."

Arthur nodded. It looked like he was going to do something strange in the future.

"Then, can you give me information about Irene—"

The afternoon was very hot. It was so hot that Arthur Rudolf comfortably rolled around on his own bed, ignoring the anticipated schedule.

Daniel had knocked on the door, but Arthur's room was locked and he left it alone. Milly, his personal maid, brought breakfast and knocked on the door, but he didn't answer.

Until finally a knock from someone else, woke Arthur up. He was still in his pyjamas, opening the door reluctantly.

Outside, the butler was already standing. Madam Hone said, "Young Duke, I am delivering an important letter by order of His Grace."

Madam Hone's face was still unpleasant to look at. Arthur had to say his thoughts, "Why do you look so hostile to me?"

That woman showed an uncomfortable expression. "After you lost your memory, your courage is commendable."

Then, she looked down at Arthur's hand. "It seems that your body's memory has not disappeared."

Arthur looked down at his own hand. His right hand was trembling while he used his left hand to hold the door. There seemed to be a secret that Arthur and the butler were hiding.

Madam Hone handed Arthur a letter. That man accepted it with both hands. It was a reflex, but it was too respectful to reply to a butler.

"At least your body reacted appropriately. Hurry up and get out of Sandy's way."

After saying that, the butler left without a word. He had only heard that the old woman was the queen's person. For the rest, he was not interested as there was nothing to suspect.

Arthur looked at the letter in his hand. He was surprised to see that there was a royal crest on it. The coat of arms depicted two swords wrapped in chains.

Brugh!

He was so surprised that he fell down. Arthur picked up the bounced letter and opened the contents. There was no sticky glue indicating that Duke Rudolf had read the invitation.

"Invitation Banquet: All Nobles of the Kingdom of Marithus"

That was the title attached to the beginning of the letter. Arthur read it and discovered that the banquet was for a new annual event planned as the Crown Prince was about to become king. There, Arthur was invited as a royal member rather than a noble.

"Hey, Arthur Rudolf!"

Arthur could hear a very loud voice calling his name. Looking out, at the end of the hallway was a red-haired man with sweaty and messy clothes.

"You! You!"

Count Rubel approached him hurriedly. His messy clothes were disregarded as the image of a nobleman. He only focused on pointing at Arthur who was sitting down.

That man walked while pointing at Arthur. Arthur could see a letter in Count Rubel's hand. When he reached him, Count Rubel caught his breath.

"What are you doing, Arthur Rudolf!"
