First Hunt completed.

On his approach, Alex threw Jack's head to where Jacob's head was and continued on. He then came to a stop in front of the terrified and trembling Rose.

He stood the looking down at Rose for a while. His face expressionless.

He then looks at his bloodied and beating arm, examining it. Then, at the bloodied knife, he held and examined it, too. Twisting and turning it to see every inch.

He returned his gaze to Rose. She was still trembling and hyperventilating and afraid.

Alex sighs. Then he took a knee and looked her deep in her eyes. And reached to caress her cheeks as she pulled away in fear. Brushing her hair behind her ear.

Then in a gentle, reassuring tone, he said

"Calm down, I won't hurt you. Well, aside from... you know."

"But it's going to be alright."

"Hey..hey..hey..hey. Look at me. Look at me." He calls to her.

"Breath in." He breathes in.

"Breath out." He breathes out.

Gesturing to her to follow his actions.

Which she did. After she calm down. Rose looked at the bloody knife. She knew this was her end. But she had one question to ask, just one. She looked him in his yellow and hazel eyes. And with a look of confusion asked shakily

"Why?"

At her question, Alex looks at her deeply and then sighs again.

He then says,

"There's an old saying in my family. If you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you."

"You see hunters more often than not, find themselves changing. Becoming different, strange even and inhuman. Almost indistinguishable or even worse than the so-called monster they hunt towards the end."

"This... This little gesture is my pathetic attempt to delay my inevitable future."

"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process, he does not himself become a monster." Alex whispers.

'This is my families greatest wish.' He thought.

Alex gripped his knife tightly. And placed its cold sharp edge at Rose's neck.

Suddenly, it all clicked. Rose looked at Alexander's face. She didn't even care about or register his actions. In some ways, they were the same.

Months ago, when she was bitten, the very thought of drinking blood disgusted and horrified her. She would even vomit at the very sight of it.

But now, she has killed people. She has even kidnapped kids so she can drink their blood.

She had gone from being human to being a monster. But she at least didn't know what waited for her at the end. She had the illusion of choice.l

But this kid. This kid he knew his end. He knew what lies in wait for him. He knew his future. He was staring right at his future. He would be hunting his fate every single day of his life. She was his future. Doomed to become the very thing you hunt.

'To know you have such a future and yet willingly walk towards it.' She thought as tears glided down her cheeks.

Alex put force on his arm.

"Oh you poor child." A sorrowful, weak, and heartbreaking voice came out of Rose.

As her neck was sliced and her head came loose.

Unlike the other two heads, the detached head of Rose had a sad and sympathetic look on her face.

Alexander got up and placed Rose's head with the other two heads.

Then looked around and spotted the girl Jacob had dragged in, hiding in a corner trying desperately not to get noticed.

"Hello there." He called

Alex placed his knife slowly on the ground. Then got up and raised his hands in the air to show that he was unarmed and not a threat.

Alex said in a gentle tone.

"I'm very sorry you had to see that. I know it's weird, trust me. But you saw them, didn't you, the noises they were making. Those weren't human."

"I'm Alex, mind if I ask what your name is?"

"Sarah." She called out, now peeping out from behind her cover.

"Okay, it's nice to meet you Sarah, look over there." Alex pointed at the kidnapped victims still tied up.

"You see them, I need your help to save them, please."

"What do you need me to do?" Sarah asked.

"I will untie them and you help me get them outside."

--A few minutes later

Alex could be seen placing a girl on the ground in a field.

Next to the girl were other people laying side by side.

Sarah ran to him and asked.

"What now?"

Alexander had already taken what he needed from the bodies. Like blood, fangs, and his knives.

"Now. Well now, I do this." He lights a molotov cocktail and throws it into the house.

The fire quickly started to spread.

"You should call the police." Alex handed her a phone.

"But before you do. I have a favour to ask you." Alex said, sandwiching Sarah's hand and the phone in his.

"For obvious reason, I can't be here when the police arrived. I only ask you to please not include me or anything about me in your report."

"Just tell them you were brought here and fell unconscious. When you woke up, you were outside with everyone."

"It would be a great help if you did this for me. But you have no obligation to me." Alex said softly.

"No, I will do it. Thank you." Sarah said with tears in her eyes.

She thought she was going to die but this man said her. Had he not been here, she dreaded to think what would have happened.

"No, thank you." With that, Alexander left.

Taking one last look at Kate's kid. He knew if he returned with her, he would most definitely get laid. But that was just too much of a risk.

Sarah watched as Alex walked off into the distance and disappeared from view before calling the police.

--A few hours later.

Alexander had gone to his motel to get his stuff and was now driving out of the city.

*Ring* *Ring*

His phone rang.

"Hello." Alex called out.

"Hello." Replied a female voice with emotion.

A voice he soon realised was Kate. He had given her his number just in case she was attacked or she found something.

"Hello Kate." He responded.

"I'm at the hospital. I just got called in."

"How's she doing?" Alexander asked about her daughter.

"They said with a little bit of rest she will make a full recovery."

"That's good." Alex said.

"Yeah." She sighed.

After a long pause.

"You know I asked about a detective Williams. The police said they didn't have anyone by that name." Kate said.

"Mmh."

"The same day you showed up, the kids are also found. And some of the kids that woke up, although still weak, all said they remember seeing an odd eyed figure."

"...." Alex was silent.

There was a long pause.

"You're not coming back, are you?" Kate asked.

"No." Alex said quietly.

"Thank you. Thank you so so much." She cried.

"If you are ever in the area."

"See you later, Kate. Stay safe." Alexander said before hanging up.

He then takes a necklace from his pocket and looks at it.

'I got a necklace for my first mission. Funny. Witchers get their necklace in or after their trial. If I use this as a base, I could make a decent Witcher medallion.' Alex thought.

This mission had a lot of ups and downs. I review my performance when I find a safe location.

With that, he reved the car and sped off.
