15. Primary School
Alex got out of the house as he waited for Alice to come up. He had started going to the Primary School a month ago and Alice always alked there with him.
Along the way, they would also meet Ye Lian and go to the school together. It had become a routine and Alex quite enjoyed his leisurely walk with them.
In about two to three minutes, Alice could be seen running up to him without a care of acting like a girl at all.
"Let's go!!" She shouted as she waved her hands in the air.
Alex smiled at her antics and followed along with her towards the school. "Hey Alice, I joined a nice Dojo. Do you wanna join". Alex asked as he was walking with Alice.
"Do they have Guns?" Alice asked with sparkling eyes as she asked. Alice was fanatic when it comes to guns and was an avid fan of Leon, the president of the of Super God Gene Branch HQ.
"M…Maybe". Alex said as he was a bit unsure about that. He knew that they taught about weapon and martial arts but Gunslinging might not be in the agenda.
"I'll join if they have Guns". Alice cheered as she said and continued on their way towards the School.
After walking halfway, they saw a little girl standing on the side as she wore a white dress that looked very cute on her.
"Ye Lian!!" Alice shouted again to get Ye Lian's attention.
"Alex, Alice". Ye Lian smiled as she smiled and trotted over to Alex and Alice.
"Yosh Yosh". Alex said as he patted the cute creature on the head.
Ye Lian's hair were fluffy and felt very good as he patted them. He was having fun while patting her head but someone else was quite jealous at this display.
"Hmph". Alice pouted and turned her sideways as she gave Alex an annoyed look.
Seeing Allice's look, Alex understood that she was jealous. So he just silently started patting her head. Alice's hairs were smooth and silky and very nice to touch.
Alice showed a smile on her face as she leaned her head into Alex's small hand. Alex also showed a smile as he saw her acting like that.
"Okay that's enough, now let's go". Alex stopped patting their heads as he led the way and started walking towards the school.
Alice and Ye Lian covered their heads with their hands as they missed the warmth of Alex's hands. After a bit, they ran to catch up with Alex and walk alongside him.
They talked and walked as they enjoyed their time together and came to the school with their small but vigorous steps.
All of them were from the same class. There were about 3 schools in this city and all of them were top class.
The other schools that enrolled were just some small time schools that weren't worth mentioning. Every top school usually held inters school competition to see who will get more resources allocated to them.
Alex, Alice and Ye Lian were able to get into this school because of their family beings evolvers. As this school only accepted evolvers kids and not even powerful Fighters in the city could enrol their children here.
They got to the school and saw a massive building that looked truly fascinating. This building hosted a Primary, secondary and a High school at the same time.
After graduating from here, students could enrol to a good awakeners university or even a top one at that. So the hype of enrolling in these 3 schools was quite big.
The three of them got to class and sat down among the whispers and murmurs of other children in the class.
Some girls had stars in their eyes as they looked at Alex while some boys fought each other or acted tough to attract the attention of others to themselves.
"Ahem, quiet". A teacher came in as he stood at the podium and looked at the all the children sternly. Hearing his voice, everyone quieted down obediently and listened in rapt attention.
"In a while, everyone will be taken to the Gym for combat exercise. You will be fighting against instructors and then have spars against each other. So be prepared for injuries. We are not cultivating flowers but soldiers for humanity". The teacher said with a stoic and stern face.
Due to the circumstances, children here always matured early on as the world wasn't all happy anymore. Children were trained from 3 years old at home then further enrolled in school with good aptitudes.
All the big Guilds and the Government allocated some of their resources to the schools for further training of prospective members that could potentially join them in the future.
The spars weren't simple either. Students at the top got more resources and attention while those behind didn't enjoy those benefits. The top 5 of class spars will then compete with the other classes' top 5.
This way, they could alleviate the position and resources given to their whole class and even get the opportunity to get into of the special class if they ranked higher in the competition.
And special class was called special for a reason. Children here could get unlimited time in Cultivation rooms, where weakened monsters were left for children to kill and absorb their essence. Though they have to get to Tier 1 before they can even start absorbing anything at all.
This accelerated their growth as well as allowed them to get ahead of the competition easily. The promotion competition was only held once a year and there weren't many that could join this special class. So the competition was fierce even among the small children.
Resources to advance and get stronger were needed by everyone in this apocalyptic age. Some got them more and some got them less or even none. Most children were instructed and bought up with this aspect in mind.
After a while, the bell rang and the teacher asked the children to follow behind him in ranking. The strongest in the front while the weakest at last. These small things encourages competition or just clears the cannon fodder in the start.
The society was like this. So there was nothing that people could do. They could either suck up to it or just go on about their mundane lives. Worrying about food, clothing and even their lives if ever a beast or monster wave for that matter occured.
