Homecoming

"So you're saying Scott left this town called Des Moines and came to my town thinking about this second chance?" John having a glass of Whiskey looking at the fireplace.

"Yes, Scott wanted to be a better person after beating up someone with a baseball bat. Even though this girl tells him that he's a 'better person'. Whatever the hell that means." Troy being behind John fearing he'll get beaten up like in the locker room.

"I see." John finishes his Whiskey. "Very well then. Troy you did good. Make sure you do well at the homecoming game starting this Friday. Don't let me down."

John left the room with Troy being by himself. With Troy alone, he'll do anything to impress John.

"I won't let you down." John talking to himself.

It was the week of homecoming where many people were getting ready to head to the football game against the Blue Buffaloes. The whole was nothing but homecoming as students neglected their schoolwork and ditched their classes. Not even Principal Dover intervened as he cares more about beating the Buffalos than his student's academics.

While the commotion about homecoming was spreading around the school, Scott and Ashley were still their usual selves as they thought of homecoming week just a regular week for them.

"Man homecoming week is just a mess. Look at these people. It's like they are rioting at this school." Scott looked around as students were throwing books and for some reason toilet paper.

"Tell me about it. Even Jimmy Wilson is stuck in the garbage can." Ashley looked at Jimmy

"H-help, I'm s-stuck. C-can someone get me out of here." Jimmy struggles to get out of the garbage can.

"Damn Jimmy has it rough in this school." Scott is feeling bad for Jimmy.

"By the way, want to go to the homecoming dance with me." Ashley showed Scott a flier of the dance.

"Uh dance what dance." Scott looking at the flier.

"You know the homecoming dance. These fliers were everywhere in the school." Ashley putting away the flier to her bag. "Did your old school also have a homecoming dance?"

"Well we do, it's just that I didn't have anybody to go with." Scott looked at his hand. "Since people were scared of me because of my anger, it was best if I didn't go to the dance."

"Well it's your lucky day, Scott. I'll take you to the dance. Besides, it's our senior year. Let's have fun for our last year of high school." Ashley is trying to make Scott smile.

"Sure." Scott smiled once again.

"Awesome." Ashley being happy. "If we're going to the dance, you need a suit and I need a dress. Why won't we head to the mall this Friday."

"Wait this Friday, but I thought the game was going to happen." Scott raising his eyebrows.

"Yeah but I'm not interested in the game , hell, I'm not interested in football. Besides, the whole day is just going to be about the football game and the unnecessary pep rally." Ashley rolling her eyes. "What, are you interested in the game?"

"Well although I play baseball, I'm not a big fan of football. I think of that sport as just wrestling but with a ball." Scott looked at one of the football players approaching them. "Sure, let's go to the mall and get our clothes for the dance."

"Great, I'll pick you up again this Friday." The bell rang. "Well let's head to precalc."

Both Scott and Ashley walked to class. With Andrew stalking them without them noticing, Andrew texted John about their absence to the football game.

John was busy at his computer science class studying digital coding. However, he was interrupted with his phone ringing in his pocket. When he brought out his phone, John read the text from Andrew. Afterwards, he put his phone back in his pocket.

"So now you don't want to go to the game huh." John gripped on his computer mouse so hard cracking the frame.

It was the day of the homecoming pep rally and football game. But Scott had better ideas. Outside, Scott was waiting for Ashley's arrival to head to the mall. He never went to the town's nearby mall, so it would be an interesting journey for him. As it is his first time, he took all the money he had and put it in his wallet knowing that the mall can be a very expensive place.

"Are you sure you don't need my credit card sweetie? You might need more than what you got." Mrs. Smith is also outside with Scott.

"Yeah mom, I think I'll be fine." Scott putting his hands in his pocket.

"Are you sure it's okay to skip school today? I don't want you to have an absence on your transcript." Mrs. Smith putting her hands on Scott's shoulders.

"Mom it's going to fine. The whole day is just the school being at the pep rally and the football game. Hell, none of the teachers aren't even going to notice." Scott looked both ways on the street.

Later, a motorcycle noise was approaching both Scott and his mother knowing well that Ashley was coming. Once she arrived, she was ready to pick up Scott.

"Scott ready to head to the mall." Ashley on her motorcycle ready to head out.

"Yeah." Scott got on her bike.

"Oh you must be Scott's new friend Ashley." Mrs. Smith greeting Ashley.

"Oh you must be Scott's mom. Hi, I'm Ashley. It's so nice to see you for the first time." Ashley shook Mrs. Smith's hand

"Nice to meet you Ashley. Although I met you for the first time, please take care of Scott for me will ya." Mrs. Smith putting her hands together.

"Of course Mrs. Smith. I'll help him get a new suit and just have fun right Scott." Ashley looked at Scott.

Scott nodded with a yes knowing that it'll be a fun day.

"Alright then. Be safe, you two!" Mrs. Smith waved goodbye to them.

"Thanks Mrs. Smith!" Ashley put on her helmet again and started to head off.

"Wow, your mom is really nice, Scott. You are one lucky son." Ashley smiled in her helmet.

"Yeah she does love me a lot." Scott holding on to Ashley's stomach.

"Alright then, hang on. We'll be at the mall before you know it." Ashley speeding up her motorcycle.

Ashley rode her motorcycle as fast as she could. The roads in Iowa were pretty empty which made it a lot easier for her to get to the mall. Scott even realizes that they were now far from Sunshine Valley letting him see the cornfields all around him again. It was a long journey as it took them thirty minutes being on the road.

Moments later, they finally arrived at the mall with many cars in the parking lot and many buildings including different department stores and outlets, a food court, and an indoor theme park. To Scott, this was the biggest place, even bigger than the school, that he has ever seen.

"I can't believe that I got to see this place this summer." Ashley stopped her bike and took off her helmet. "Well ready to head in."

Scott nodded yes as he was pretty excited to head into the building.

For the whole day, Scott was having fun. Ashley found a suit that fits perfectly with Scott with a light blue dress shirt, a black tie, and black dress pants. Ashley got a dress that was gray that reached to her foot. It was a beautiful dress and really matched her casual fit. Although Scott didn't have enough money to pay for his suit, Ashley came in with her credit card paying for both her dress and Scott's suit.

"Don't worry Scott. What you want or need is on me." Ashley gave the cashier her credit card.

After they got their clothes for the dance, they still had a full day and still wanted to have fun. They rode on some rides in their theme park, had burgers together, tried on some clothes in different outlets, and ended the day with a picture together.

"Scott, give me your phone." Scott gave Ashley his phone

"Alright smile." Scott and Ashley both smiled

They both got a picture with them having one of the best times of their lives.

As it was getting late, they both started heading home with Ashley dropping him off at his house. It was dark, but the most fun Scott had for a long time. Ever since Scott's father left him, he never had the chance to have fun as he felt neglected and abandoned left with uncontrollable anger.

"Well here we are." Ashley stopped at Scott's house. "I hope you had a great time today."

Scott got off Ashley's motorcycle carrying his homecoming suit. "Thanks Ashley." "So do you think I can be more than this 'angry person' that people might see me as."

"Scott, you can be more than that horrible thing that people call you." Ashley getting ready to head back. "I know you can."

Ashley drove off knowing that tomorrow will be the night they won't forget.

"Thanks Ashley." Scott went back to his house.

Meanwhile, the homecoming game was over and people were getting packed up to go home. Troy had fun taking down the Blue Buffalos having a chance to tackle at least half the team. Laura on the other hand was overjoyed with her cheering with the other cheerleaders and her heart was beating faster than ever. They were both also packing up getting ready to head back home to John's mansion. Until he shows up.

"Well that was a furious game today you guys. You guys even broke a sweat." John came from the shadows to the stadium light. "Troy, Laura I like to talk to you about something."

"Oh John, I didn't see you there. I was just drinking my energy drink and packing up." Troy dropped his drink.

"Oh babe you came to see us! How much of a man can you be!" Laura hugged John really hard.

"As I was saying, Scott is hanging out with this girl and she is the thing that is preventing me from taking Scott." John pushed Laura. "And I think she is going to get something. She won't be seeing her divorced father, but she will be seeing her mother soon." John had a smirk on his face.

From out of his varsity jacket pocket, John brought a butterfly knife out, giving it to Troy.

"Troy. You have been a really good doggie to me from the beginning of the school year." John giving his smirk expression to Troy. "Do me a favor and get rid of that bitch. From the first time I saw her, I thought she would be part of my chessboard, but all she is is just a nuisance and I don't accept them in my school. So please get rid of her and we can take Scott to be our new chess piece."

"Yes John." Troy put away the knife in his pocket and went back to packing his things.

"What about me babe! What can I do to that bitch!" Laura putting her hands on John.

"Nothing sweetheart. Just be my baby doll and that's all." John kissed Laura thoroughly giving satisfaction to her.

Once they finished kissing, Laura giggled and ran back to pack her things.

"Ashley, it was fun knowing you, but Scott is mine."
