After successfully escaping from the library, what greeted Leonard and Seraphis was an unexpected scene they never thought could happen in mere minutes.
The sky was crimson, and a foul-smelling gas filled the air, as if it was trying to drive away life itself. In the middle of the Academy's premises lay a hellish landscape that had appeared out of nowhere.
Several buildings had collapsed. The former Academic Building had turned into a crumbled ruin, as if forgotten by time, but now stained red with people's blood.
From afar, to his right was a labyrinth of fallen structures, and to his left were dead bodies, impaled or smashed to bits, thrown together in one place for some unknown reason.
He couldn't help but feel his stomach churn, but he pushed himself forward, following Seraphis, who remained silent as she led the way to wherever she had in mind, not being fazed by the scene.
"This isn't the Academy we once knew," he muttered.
