Chapter 17.4
Rangi decided that he had wandered around the town for long enough and it was time to settle down for the night. He had got a decent lay of this place overall thus just needed to pick a place to stay most likely one where there did not serve a lot of adventurers. Not because he did not trust them per se but because he was being hunted seemingly and whoever was after him might try to hire adventurers.
Rangi still was not sure who that person had attacked him before was and hopefully, they did not put out a bounty or quest for his capture to the guild or anything. He was just hoping that the fact that no one seemed to know his village once existed was for the reason that his surviving would not bring attention to anyone other than that person. Having enough influence and/or money to be silent having an entire area burnt to the ground without revealing truly why or for what reason. Just having this person was enough for Rangi to attempt to think about trying to avoid it at all costs.
He was just hoping those after him would think more like an adventurer would than a freelancer instead. Most would tend to do that though Rangi was lucky that he met someone who just backed up the claims that they drilled into kids back in the village.
Shaking his head mentally Rangi having managed to find an inn to stay at that fit the needs and wants he had at the moment. Took to the room where he was able to look out at the city limits or more like in the direction of them at least. Always have an escape route or at least the outlines of one available to yourself as he never knew when he might be attacked. Staying in an inn was dangerous regardless but at least here he would not have to be as on guard as if he was staying at one that also housed adventurers. Freelancers like himself and those more powerful than him could be staying here or in the nearby surroundings but they could not get away with a quarter of the things that adventurers could. Thus suddenly attacking him in the middle of the night was decreased at least a bit.
Having settled down for now Rangi looked at the hand that had a marking embedded onto it that would reveal itself when he focused on it. It was through this that he had come up with the idea of how to get both Gau and Let into the town without being noticed. The two girls would stand out being sentient weapons even in their human forms. Thus there would be a whole lot of questions he rather not answer at the town gates with the guards. Just storing them somehow in this marking allow him entry into the town without being noticed.
'Good thing I have already had some gloves to cover my hands with' Rangi thought
He was not sure about this fully so he went about covering his hands to prevent anyone from possibly seeing them as he roamed about the town before settling down in the inn. Seeing as they were not awake yet when he summoned them they appeared in their weapon form rather than their human ones. Testing beforehand revealed they could assume whichever form they wanted when being summoned from the marking. he decided to look over their weapon to see how well they fit on his arms. Along with several other things to see as much as he could now rather than discover these things during battle or something. Of course, it was done so in a manner that would not alarm or attract too much attention to himself though. Hopefully just being taken as someone doing some nightly exercise or something
"Huh why is it dark," Gau asked as she noticed the sun had already gone down
"Did the plan work as it must have worked if we are here, right" Let asked
The two of them seemed to have awakened while he was going through some of his training motions with them both on
"Wait you two recall do not recall anything from before you were stored inside the pattern on my hand," Rangi asked them
They both then mentally shook their head as everything went blank after a while and the next moment they knew and was aware of what was them being in this room inside the inn.
Rather than everything going black they claimed everything went white and then nothingness as they seemingly were not placed into a state similar to when they run out of power but more so a pause state until called out from where the pattern was storing them.
Not aware of when they would be attacked next or just when they would need to flee at a moment's notice. Gau suggested that they be as close to their owner as possible. Not having access to his weapon when he needs it the most could prove to be a fatal mistake or an act of unpreparedness.
However, the plan that was suggested and the plan that they went with were completely different. Instead of being by Rangi's side in their true weapon forms. The pair were ordered to stay in their human form as the plan was to fool any possible attackers into not realizing it was even him they were looking at.
