Wanted to Shoot Herself in the Foot

She explained, "He was having very high fever and was delirious. I had to wipe his body with cold water…"

The doctor nodded and said, "Weren't there any servants around?"

Feng Xinying wanted to shoot herself in the foot for acting on her impulse. She looked like an idiot.

The doctor broke into a grin. He said, "I am happy that you took care of Xie Yuansheng so nicely. If it hadn't been for your care, it was possible that he could have got a brain stroke." Saying that he went to see his patient. He looked at him and then lifted his land that bandaged. He opened the bandage and saw that the wound had become infected.

Feng Xinying who was standing at the corner of the bed also saw his hand. The wound had got so badly infected that there was pus in it. She cringed and lowered her head. But he said that he had been taking care of it…

"It seems that Xie Yuansheng hadn't eaten his antibiotics properly. Also I had asked him to go and get a fresh dressing done yesterday. He didn't come. All this had resulted in infection and now fever," explained the doctor.

"What do we do doctor?" asked Feng Xinying very concerned now.

"We can take him to the hospital or if you like I can arrange for a nurse here," he answered.

Feng Xinying didn't want to trouble Xie Yuansheng any further. Even though she knew that it would be better if he goes to the hospital, she said, "Could you please arrange for a nurse here?"

"Okay, in that case I will have to change his dressing and I will put him on IV drip with antibiotics for now," said the doctor and started cleaning the infected area.

When the entire process was done, Xie Yuansheng looked better. The doctor turned towards Feng Xinying who was all the time assisting him and looked messy with all hair jutting out of her pony and covering her face and neck.

The doctor smiled at her and said, "Thank you helping me out. I will send the nurse in sometime. It would be better that you make Xie Yuansheng wear some clothes."

Feng Xinying blushed again. The doctor gave her all the instructions regarding medicines. As soon as the doctor left, she called the Lu Boyun and asked him to change Xie Yuansheng's clothes and she ran out of the room.

When she heard the door of his room close, she waited for a while before going back to his room. Xie Yuansheng looked calm and although his face was pale, he looked better. Lu Boyun had changed his clothes and also made up his bed. Everything was neat and tidy in his room. Feng Xinying went closer to him and felt relieved. She thought that it would be better to wait for the nurse and then leave him alone.

She wondered where had Xie Weihui gone. It was already 5pm in the evening and she hadn't returned.

Thankfully the nurse came sooner than expected and Feng Xinying could retire to her bedroom. She gave instructions to the nurse. The nurse nodded and assured, "Yes young miss, the doctor has already given me the instructions and I will take good care of the patient. You can go and relax."

Feng Xinying was relaxed and felt reassured by the nurse. She left him to the nurse's care and went to her room.

She remembered that she had to go and pick Keira from the airport as her flight was landing at 2am in the night. So she went downstairs to have her dinner early so that she could sleep well before picking her up. She knew that once Keira landed, she wouldn't spare her that night. She would keep gossiping until she would feel tired.

After having dinner she thought of taking a peep in Xie Yuansheng's room to check on how he was doing. Well, it was basic curtsey, she thought.

As she opened the door, she saw that Xie Yuansheng was still sleeping. The nurse was sleeping too, rolling her head around on the chair beside him. The drip that was attached to Xie Yuansheng was empty. The nurse hadn't even replaced it with another drip. Feng Xinying became furious and went to shake the nurse from her sleep.

She scolded her in a low voice. "Have you come here to sleep? Can't you see that his drip needs to be changed?"
