A smile that reached from one ear to the other appeared on Adrien's face as his chubby cheeks turned rosy and his eyes began to shine.
"Did my angel miss his mémé?" Lady Isabelle de Valois asked sweetly.
Adrien nodded again and again. "Of course..." The toddler admitted shyly, the smile on Isabelle's graceful face deepened. Despite her sweetness, Lady de Valois seemed anything but fragile. Every fiber of her body was imbued with elegance and strength as she looked kindly and proudly at her grandson. "To prove this, you must give your mémé a kiss." Isabelle tapped on her cheek with her finger. An amused smile played around her rosy lips. All her attention was focused on her grandson, who had taken her heart by storm. Immediately the toddler leaned forward and pressed a kiss on her grandmother's cheek.
Happily, Lady de Valois pointed to the tray. "What does my Addy want to eat. Your mémé will grant you any wish."
Alexandre frowned, he could still vividly remember the night when Adrien had curled up in his crib in pain and looked at him with a tear-stained face, while Lily sat beside the little one, full of worry. She rubbed and massaged his aching stomach all night long until he finally fell asleep. All because his mother who had filled the boy with sweets several hours earlier. " Maman, he'll get a tummy ache again if you don't stop him." Tonight, Alexandre really wanted to spend his first night as a married couple with Lily. With a happy Lily, not one, who cried out of pity, sitting next to her baby, rubbing his tummy. He also wanted Adrien to have fun today, but not at his expense. He didn't forbid him to eat sweets, it was just a matter of proportions. The measure was crucial, but his mother didn't know any measure at all. Which complicated the situation.
But when Adrien had heard that he could eat anything, his eyes immediately opened, and he forgot everything else. At once, his grandmother's heart was melting away, and she took her grandson in her arms. Before Alexandre could make any further objections, Adrien had the first tartlet in his hand. Alexandre felt like crying as the rosy cheeks of the little man turned brown from the chocolate cream.
"Mr. de Valois..." A person who approached them stopped in front of them. Her face was expressionless. She had pinned her golden brown hair to the back of her head in a strict bun. The round face lost its softness due to her iron gaze. "You must prepare for the bridal purchase, you have exactly 37 minutes before the first event begins."
"I see." Alexandre nodded. "Do you happen to know where my best man is by any chance?" Eagerly, Alexandre looked at the wedding planner.
The lady nodded and pointed to a couple that seemed to be arguing in the corner of the hall. Alexandre raised an eyebrow as he recognized the redhead next to Claudio. A strange feeling was spreading in his head. But he didn't want to deal with it any further. He shrugged his shoulders and thanked the wedding planner before he went to the odd couple.
"Actually, I shouldn't be surprised..." Nelli pulled on the golden ring at her finger as if she had to touch something really disgusting. "You seem to get everything with your dubious methods..." Claudio looked like he had swallowed something bitter.
Alexandre ignored the bitterness.
"Claudio, Mademoiselle de Carvoisin I hate to disturb you, but we're wanted for the first event."
"Oh no, you're not disturbing us in any way. I was about to leave to attend to my duties." Nelli replied coolly, before she disappeared. It seemed as if she was fleeing as fast as she could.
Alexandre raised his eyebrow. His eyes rested on his friend for a moment. "I don't want to know anything about it!" Alexandre moaned as he rubbed his temples. "Just be at the stairs in thirty minutes with the bridal jewelry."
Claudio smiled faintly.
