Loyalty

Jason logged into the game fresh and ready. The breakfast he just ate was nice and refreshing and it was mostly uneventful except for a few things.

Boops snickered to himself as he sorted through his memories of Arjuna chasing Perseus around the kitchen in cold fury.

Jason stretched and looked out of the window. He was in the guild house, and even now he could see a few guild members heading out into the forest this time escorted by wolves in groups of 2 and 3.

The guild members were heading out into the forest to collect herbs and to also fight the occasional monster.

Perseus had reported that the average level of the guild members was around 15 and Jack's friend's levels were also increasing at a steady rate.

Jason walked down the stairs as he thought about what he needed to do for the day. Of course, he had the new bandit problem which was a huge pain in the butt, but he couldn't let the completely stop all of his actions.

Jason passed Perseus in the main hall in the guild house. He was sorting through stacks of copper and silver coins and a grin covered his face as he held a cluster of silver coins in his hand.

Jason walked up to him who was sitting on the bare floor and tapped his shoulder.

Perseus let out a small yell as he leapt up spilling the silver coins all over the floor, once he saw that it was Jason he gave a small sigh and sat back down.

"phew," he said to Jason as he bent down to pick up the coins, "thought you were Natalie or maybe even Arjuna"

Jason gave a small snort and helped Perseus gather the rest of the silver coins.

"what are you going to do today Perseus?" he asked as he grabbed a coin that had logged itself into the cracks of the wooden floor.

"ehhh I have a few things I want to buy in the city, plus the support of the golden pig group is coming in in a few days so I need to get ready for them"

Jason sat down next to Perseus and started to stack the silver coins with Perseus

"so that means we are getting more manpower?"

Perseus grinned and placed the final silver coin neatly on top of the stack of shining silver coins

"yep! finally heh"

Jason let out an excited grin and stood up.

"What did you need to buy in the city? I can grab them when I'm at the city"

Perseus cocked his head

"you're going to the city? I thought you were going to grind exp in the forest or something? ya know raining death on those bandits"

With a shake of his head, Jason checked his amour and answered

"I will, but it's much nicer to have more people when we do it, I'm going to see if there are any talents in the city, I feel like I haven't been using my talent seeking subsystem to its full extent yet"

Perseus let out a grin

"so you're saying that we don't have enough manpower?"

Jason responded

"I mean, it's just me, you, Natalie, the wolves, and a bunch of kids, even if the bandits are pretty weak to me and you, I don't think I want to charge into a camp full of them just yet"

Perseus coughed awkwardly and nodded.

Jason muttered to himself as he mulled over a sudden problem he thought of.

"We just need to figure out how to get them over to our side or recruit them"

Perseus overheard Jason's mulling and laughed. He pointed at the stacks of silver and copper coins and said

"that's your answer master, a silver coin, right now is still pretty expensive, after all it cost the players a few weeks to gain ten. A few of them would be enough to recruit or even buy out a player"

Perseus grabbed 3 stacks of 20 silver coins and gave them to Jason before he could say anything.

"these are yours anyways master, go and use them at your own discretion"

Jason looked at Perseus who was grinning at him. He let out a small laugh and soon Perseus also caught it and they were both laughing out loud.

After the two finally stopped Perseus stood up and gave a small bow to Jason. Much different from how he acted normally. "take care master" he said genuinely. Jason gave one last look at Perseus nodded and turned away and walked out of the guild house.

Perseus quietly waited for Jason to leave.

Once the door finally shut he turned around and with a small flick of his hand the plies of silver and copper coins all disappeared into his inventory.

His expression turned serious again as he pulled out his sword from his inventory.

The incident from the night before had given him a wake-up call. He couldn't protect his master. In fact, he wasn't even close to his master's strength. Jason had even purposefully directed the enemy bandit away from him and the guild members because of the potential dangers.

Perseus's eyes glinted with a serious and almost deadly light as he too walked out of the guild house. He had a few leather pads of amour covering his chest and shoulder. But besides that, he wore no defensive amour.

He let out an amused grin as he passed through the wide-open space around the guild house.

It looks like he was going to hunt instead of his master

The guild members were about to run over to him to ask if they could go fishing. But they suddenly stopped and looked at Perseus with confusion.

Something about the usually kind guild master seemed different. He had no smile on but instead a small smirk as if something was just slightly amusing and his eyes just seemed to view everything in its sight with contempt.

The kids watched as Perseus walked towards the forest with his sword hanging from his belt and his entire body giving off a scary aura.

Perseus didn't even pay attention to the kids. In his mind, he was constantly replaying the events of the night before or the moment of his weakness. He could only wait for his master to finish the truly dangerous one. While he did what? he just hid with the guild members and took care of some random bowmen.

A hidden fury seemed to emerge from Perseus as he reached the entrance of the forest and stood in. Killing intent emerging from his body.

Natalie walked out of the guild house about to start working on a garden so that the kids could have an easier supply of nutrition. But she paused to see a figure walking into the woods.

It was Perseus, but at the same time, it didn't seem like Perseus. He strode into the forest with his back turned to Natalie and the rest of the guild members who were watching their guild master.

Perseus's blond hair seemed to be swept over in the darkness of the forest that closed over him. His back seemed straight and tall, but seemed almost rigid and taunt. He held a sword in his hand and as he walked into the forest.

Natalie could almost feel a small shiver run down her spine.

Though Perseus was much younger than her, he was technically in charge of her.

But Perseus, he was a good child, Natalie thought to herself

He seemed respectful, kind, and outgoing, his mental maturity seemed high though, Natalie thought that something felt a bit off about it. But he seemed like a good person, from what Natalie had seen and heard. He wasn't just pretending.

Natalie wanted to think more about Perseus, but a group of guild members stumbled out of the forest on the opposite side of where Perseus had left.

It was Jack and his group of friends with a few wolves in tow. None of them seemed to be in any danger and no injuries.

But Natalie was horrified to see that each and every one of them was covered in mud. Even the wolves looked like giant blobs of mud with some eyes.

Natalie ran over to them in a rush and quickly corralled them over to the water pump to wash the mud off.

While Natalie was a bit annoyed at the occurrence. Jack and the rest of the guild members all seemed to laugh and even enjoy Natalie's actions (except for the vegetable eating) even Perseus enjoyed it a bit, just a bit.

Her actions brought a warmness to their hearts, it made them feel like somebody cared for them.

The guild members especially loved Natalie. She was the mother they never had. Natalie never knew this. All that she did was act normally and fuss over the children who were in such a dirty state.

But soon Natalie's place in the guild members' hearts had solidified.

The kid's hearts felt like they would explode out of joy. From having absolutely nothing being beating every day and more, to having a home, plenty of food, people who cared about them and so much more.
