Ghosts suck

Jason looked around. He had a mob of zombies behind him falling into a ditch and dying. And an angry zombie in the front of him. The ghost was slowly floating toward Jason in a threatening manner, Its arms were stretched out and what seemed like its mouth was opened up to impossible degree Jason could only see darkness where its eyes should have been.

Jason readied his sword. And Boops quickly analyzed the ghost for Jason.

[angry ghost level 60]

Jason tried to think to himself positively.

"yeah.... that's manageable i think"

Boops quickly said to Jason

'yeah you try and hold him off, I'm going to look for ghost information'

"shouldn't it take you like 2 seconds or something"

'Yeah, things kinda got messed up in the sorting phase when the new group of books came in. It might take me a bit longer.'

Boops's voice disappeared from Jason's head and Jason assumed that he went into his headspace again. So now he was left alone to face the ghost for a bit.

"heh, screw this," he thought and ran to the slowly approaching ghost with his sword raised.

The ghost gave off a roar when it saw Jason approaching and stretched out its arms that suddenly had claws appear on it its hands with a blue glow covering them.

Jason had reached the ghost and swung his sword at the ghost. The ghost didn't move to defend against the strike so Jason easily had a clear shot at the ghost's body. But then in a truly ghost-like fashion the sword passed through its body without hurting it. Jason didn't feel his sword cutting through anything instead it felt like he had just swung his sword out randomly.

The ghost's mouth narrowed into a sinister smile and it swiped hard with its claws. Jason activated his roll skill and rolled away the moment he found out that his attack didn't connect and he just barely dodged just in time.

Wait, nevermind he got grazed by one of the claws. Oh yeah, now he was feeling it. Jason made some distance from the ghost that was cackling in glee. He looked at his wound on his leg. It was thankfully shallow but the burning sensation his calf told him that it was probably poisoned.

Jason looked back up at the ghost that was savoring the despair the human should be showing. The ghost was slowly but surely approaching Jason with its arms outstretched.

To Jason though the way the ghost was slowly moving was a lifesaver. He cracked open one of the health potions he got from Charlie and poured it onto his wound. Maybe there was a disinfectant in there or something but the moment the red liquid hit his skin a small hissing sound came from his leg. And a stinging pain followed soon after.

Jason stood up but the burning sensation from his leg was still there. It was much less than before but it was definitely still there. The good news was that the ghost was taking a stupidly long time to reach Jason. Maybe the ghost thought it was scaring Jason into not moving or something but Jason used this time to recollect his thoughts and figure out what he could do.

Physical attacks weren't working on the ghost, so what the frick was he supposed to do? Jason had no clue. The only plan that he had come up with was run. Where? he had no idea.

In conclusion, Jason was screwed. Wait, wait no Jason could do this he had some points put into intelligence and wisdom for situations like this. Jason started at the ghost's claws that were surrounded by a blue light. That was definitely going to be what was going to kill him.

Jason shook his head. Wait if he couldn't attack the ghost why could it attack him? Jason's brain started to churn as he observed the ghost again. Maybe it was all of the points Jason had in intelligence and wisdom or maybe it was because of all the crap Jason had gone through recently but he looked at the blue glow again and it hit him like how a mother would throw a shoe at you if you did something stupid.

It was mana, that was what was surrounding the ghost's claws. Jason moved his head so that the ghost couldn't see it and gave off a dark evil grin.

The ghost thought that Jason was just hiding his crying face and cackled again and advanced.

Jason only had one skill that he could use currently that used mana. That skill had a cooldown and long one. If he missed this attempt he would be running around the ghost in circles for about 10 minutes.

Jason needed to get this one shot. Jason looked around he saw the piles of loot that were just waiting for him to grab. The skill books the weapons and most importantly the piles of money. The thought struck Jason, if he got killed by this ghost then he was going to fail the trial and the money.

Jason's eyes now burned with a new fire. He was NOT going to let his loot disappear out his sight just because of some stupid ghost. His face was still turned away from the ghost but if the ghost saw his face it probably would have backed away and crawled back to where it came from.

Jason's face was like a predator, no a mother who might lose her precious babies. Yeah, it was intense and scary.

That expression only floated on Jason's face once and then disappeared back to Jason's evil grin. He turned back to the ghost and charged at it.

He probably should have waited for the ghost to come to him so he could attack it just when it won. But this was a spur of the moment Jason had at the thought of losing his loot.

Luckily the ghost thought it was last desperate attempt to attack it, so it just waited for Jason to fail and then kill him in total despair. So it outstretched its arms and in a laughing manner beckoned Jason to come closer.

The evil grin came onto Jason's face for a second but then quickly disappeared and returned to the desperate face that the ghost had seen all along. Jason got closer to the ghost about 5 feet away.

The ghost still didn't expect anything and waited for the moment when it could enjoy the sweet despair on the human's face after it realized that its attack was useless.

But then the ghost heard the human scream out

"HAHA YOU'VE FALLEN FOR MY TRAP CARD"

The Ghost didn't really understand what it meant, but I mean it only had a few seconds to try and understand it.

A sudden blue glow of light came out of the human's sword. The ghost's face was the purest definition of "I screwed up" Somehow it expressed the emotion perfectly even though it didn't even have a face. It screamed out its final words

"wooooooo"

And a glowing sword was stabbed into the ghost's chest where its heart would have been if it was a human. The ghost looked at the human who was holding the sword that was piercing through its chest. The human was looking at the ghost back with its eyes that held an intense force.

The human saw the ghost looking at him and he leaned up and whispered to the ghost

"don't ever screw with my loot"

The ghost didn't have time to answer and disappeared into a blueish light and floated up to the sky.

Jason watched its remains float away, but then something caught his eye on the ground.

Boops decided to come in at this time

'Hey, Jason I figured it out! you can fight it if you use mana.... oh, I'm late'

Jason said in an angry manner

"Boops why did you do that"

Boops tried to defend himself desperately

'hey I didn't do anything'

"Yeah, that's why I'm so pissed"

'ehhh okay that might be true, but... wow look at the thing on the ground.'

Jason scoffed

"heh I'm not going to fall for something like th.... oh dang what its that?"

Jason squatted down to look at what the ghost had dropped. Oh yeah, and he had leveled up twice from that.

[level up]

[level up]

Jason picked up the ball that was dropped. He looked at it and Boops started to freak out in his head. Not wanting to lose out on the excitement Jason quickly asked Boops what it was and Boops shared the information

[monster core rank E]

[congratulations you are the first to gain a monster core.]

Jason grinned at the choices and looked up at the sky where the ghost's remains had floated up to.

"Heh, I take it back,"
