Adventure

A large looming figure stood above Jason, it stared down at him as Jason rested in his bed in the guild house. The soft breathing and the bit of mist that came out of the figure's mouth snapped Jason's eyes open.

Jeffery stood on top of Jason his paws on the left and right of his head, the friendly wolves' tongue hanging from his mouth and his head angled in a confused but excited expression.

"MORNING BOSS"

Jason smiled and lifted his hand up to gently rub Jeffery's collar

"good morning Jeffery, how have you been?"

With a quick bound, Jeffery landed on the wooden floor.

"AWESOME BOSS, WE HAVE LOTS OF SNAKOES HERE"

"yeah, I'm sure you do"

"BOSS, HAVE YOU HAD SNAKOES?"

Jason laughed at Jeffery's sudden insistence and under the constant nudging of the wolf, Jason pulled himself out of the bed in the guild house and slowly walked down the stairs to the main hall of the guild house.

The clamor of voices and the sweet smell of food wafted up to him as he walked down. Everyone in the guild it seemed, was awake and was preparing to start the day.

Natalie was in the kitchen, busy preparing food with a few helpers. John Bunyan and a few of the men were scarfing down their meals as if it was a heavenly gift. The young guild members were happily chatting while occasionally tossing bits of food to the wolves who were wandering around the main hall of the guild house, seeking attention and most likely, food.

Jack could be seen downing a mug of juice with an exhausted expression on his face as his friends sat around him counseling him and offering him bits of food from their plates.

While the Parthenon party, who placed themselves at a table on the far left corner, were engaged in a serious discussion about how they had a serious lack of big quests to accomplish.

Kids, adults, men, women and wolves, NPCs, and players all gathered in one area.

Jason grinned looking at the hall with a satisfied expression with Jeffery's small nudges pushing him forward.

Under the guild of Jeffery, Jason sat himself down on one of the only empty tables. Making sure that Jason was going to stay, Jeffery trotted off to grab some snakoes for his master.

Jason thought he was going to sit alone, but the moment the wolves spotted Jason, they immediately rushed over to claim the spots next to him. Leaping onto the benches next to and across from him, Jason was suddenly surrounded by dozens of wolves with tails furiously whirling around.

But through the loud barks and clatter that the wolves were making, a sudden wave of silence descended upon them as quick as a summer storm.

The alpha wolf silently trodded over to the table Jason was sitting at. Standing almost a head taller than the rest of the wolves, its grey fur shining in the warm glow of morning. Its brown eyes held a mysterious gleam of intelligence.

Jason looked at the alpha wolf which now sat across from him. The wolves surrounding both of them.

"Arch, I have come to report something to you"

Jason nodded his head, observing the sudden flash of pain in the alpha wolf's eyes. Jeffery walked up to Jason at that moment carrying a small plate of fresh bread.

"We have learned from the newest pack, that there is a goblin nest, deep in the forest, it stands in the hundreds-strong and is one of the reasons why the ember wolves pack had become so small. During patrols, some of the pack members have discovered what we believe to be goblin scouting parties"

The atmosphere in the wolf pack dropped instantly, some had anger, but most had despair in their eyes.

"from what the ember wolf says, it would only be a few days past the dungeon that you discovered,"

The alpha wolf placed one of its paws on the table and looked at Jason seriously.

"Please, let us wolves live around that dungeon, let it become an outpost for the pack. If a goblin patrol does find this place, this haven, the rest will come, we cannot afford to lose another home"

Jason looked around one more time, seeing the seriousness and determination in each of the wolves' eyes made him reconsider, he had plans to create an outpost for the guild near the dungeon, but since they had a lack of manpower, they were not able to do it currently.

"Alright, you can have your outpost, but I do have a few questions"

The alpha wolf lowered his head

"what would you like to know?"

Jason leaned towards the table taking a big munch of bread as he looked at the alpha wolf with a grin.

"Why not take down the entire goblin nest right now?"

"We cannot, our pack is too weak"

Jason grinned and spread out his hands with a piece of bread hanging from his mouth. The sunlight streamed down from the open doors and windows lighting up his grin and letting the breeze blow his black hair slightly upwards

"look around, the pack might not be able to do it, but the guild, the guild can"

Jason let out a small chuckle and leaned back

"you can set out to make the outpost whenever you want, but expect me to come with some guild forces tomorrow and prepare for an assault on this goblin nest.

The alpha wolf looked at Jason for a few seconds contemplating all that Jason had just said. Everything that was logical and reasonable told him that they wouldn't be able to win, that they needed to stay hidden and only fight back when attacked.

But another part told him the exact opposite, that was how the wolf clan got annihilated. That was how he lost everything when he sat back and just hid.

And now this person, who saved them from the brink of destruction is offering a chance to fight back, was there really any other response?

"understood, we will immediately begin preparations for the assault"

The alpha wolf stood and walked away followed by the pack of wolves.

Jason silently watched them leave, his eyes following them walking out of the door and into the field where the ember wolf and his pack were. Jason watched them engage in discussion, with both sides seeming to argue back and forth with each other.

Finally, Jason saw the ember wolf let out a sigh and nod his head, while the alpha wolf continued gathering all of the wolves.

"guess I should start preparing also"

With a loud sigh, Jason stood up stretching his arms and legs.

Natalie was busily working on preparing enough food for the guild when a young black-haired teenage boy popped his head through the kitchen door.

"Hey Natalie, you think you can prepare me a few rations for a quick trip?"

Natalie turned and looked at Jason, though he didn't really have a rank in the guild, everyone respected him.

"how many do you need?"

Jason paused and scratched his head

"well about that, ill need enough for the entire wolf pack and a few extras to live off of for a week."

Natalie looked at Jason with total disbelief

"do you want to work me to death?"

Jason waved his hands around in a slight panic

"wait wait wait, before you say anything, I will provide as much money as you need, and also, ill try and help as much as I can,"

Natalie crossed her arms and looked at Jason with raised eyebrows.

Really this boy. First, he saves her from an abandoned village, gives her and her son a new life and purpose. Let's her do what she loves, enabled her to watch her son grow up without the worry of anything dangerous happening to him, and now this boy, who saved her life and her sons, now wants to work her to death basically.

"it'll be done by supper"

Jason grinned and gave Natalie a thumbs up before disappearing off to somewhere else.

From the cafeteria, Jason could be heard approaching the Parthenon party with a grin.

It took only a few moments, for Peppers to start waving her staff around with glee somethings stopping to pretend to smash a few goblin skulls with it. For Uranus to let out a loud whoop of joy as he stood on the table pumping his fists. For the twin girls to smile and laugh and for Juno the leader to look at Jason, with a calm face, but on the inside, the burning excitement could be seen louder than any other member.

Natalie could only laugh, shake her head, and continue working. But as she did her gaze wandered up to the black-haired boy who seemed to literally be shining as the Parthenon party surrounded him bombarding him with questions.

A quick overlap formed in her eyes, a brown-haired man with a rugged beard and strong arms standing just like how Jason did, with a wide smile and an excited pose. Natalie smiled at the overlap and lowered her head again, after all, the rations weren't going to make themselves.
