CHAPTER 6

Landing on the airport in London, Yuuji took a direct cab to the Bourne bridge road.

It took him another hour to reach their and another half an hour to be standing in front of the gates of the school.

The institute was established on a whole city based on its name. The city of Camridge covered a total of 40.7 km and is one of the most famous educational institutes in the world.

But to Issei, this was useless, he would've been surely thrilled if he wasn't involved in supernatural, but he just couldn't get excited right now.

He entered the school premesis and stepped up to the reception, a middle aged woman with natural blonde hair was sitting there while doing some paperwork.

"Excuse me…" The woman stopped doing her work and looked up at Issei "I am a transfer student here, can you please help me with the registrations."

"I see, you must be Hyoudou Issei from Japan, right? We don't have many transfer students in the current time."

"Yes" Issei confirmed and showed her the acceptance letter.

The woman took it with a professional smile and glanced over it quickly, after confirming it was real, she pulled her drawer and fiddled something out of it..

"This would be your identification card and the schedule. You can check out the campus for now, You can find the directions from the board up there." She handed the Admission card and a piece of paper as she pointed to a map drawn on the wall.

Issei thanked her politely and stored the schedule in his school bag while putting the ID card in his wallet.

But what he failed to notice due to the light was that the words on the ID card were glowing a little which stopped when he put it in his wallet.

From the map on the wall, he followed the directions and eventually got to the an empty area after some time.

Sitting on an empty bench, he couldn't help but want to leave as soon as possible. He didn't particularly hated this place, but he was just feeling too out of place.

Is that how every transfer student feels?

Suddenly, the sound of bell ringing rang out as Issei tried to figure out which class he had now.

English & Literature. Great.

Now he could feel even more out of place. Even though he knew how to speak and understand english, he wasn't too good at it.

Sighing again at his own predicament, he eventually got up and started moving to his class.

Unknown to him, Someone was talking about him right at this moment.

It a wide room with a desk at one side and several trophies and rewards on the wall. The table was covered with several papers which could even make workaholics dizzy. There was a window behind the table for the light, which was covered by curtains at the moment.

A mature woman with curvaceous figure was sitting behind the desk, she had an extremely beautiful figure with voluptuous curves at every right place, she was currently staring straight at a woman standing in the middle of the room.

The woman standing was the one at the reception who helped Issei not too long ago.

"Are you certain that the card glowed." The woman sitting behind the desk asked in a sharp voice.

The middle aged woman lowered her head and stuttered: "Y-yes, M-Milad-y, I saw it clearly."

The mature woman put her elbow on the desk and placed her face on her hand: "I am asking for the last time, Flora. Are You Absolutely Sure‽"

"Y-Yes"

The matyre woman narrowed her eyes at her, sensing no lies from her, she eventually relented and asked in a questioning tone: "What did he look like?"

"He had dark red hair and crimson eyes, he looked physically fit and-"

"That's not what I am talking about" The mature woman interjected with a calm voice "I'm talking 'bout his personality."

The receptionist had a thoughtful expression for a moment before she answered: "He talked politely with good manners, I couldn't decipher much in such a short amount of time, but he was respectful enough to me."

The mature woman slowly nodded her head and closed her eyes as she leaned back on her chair.

The receptionist stayed silent for some moments, but realizing that the woman wasn't saying anything, she asked: "Milady. What should we do now?"

The mature woman didn't open her eyes and just replied: "We don't know if he is aware of the supernatural as of yet…"

"… Send him to Charles."

The receptionist seemed to have been stunned if her expression was anything to go by.

She immediately asked: "Milady, won't you meet him personally…"

"No… Not yet… Not until we are aware of his personality and his motives."

The receptionist seemed to be unsatisfied by this statement as she asked back: "But Milady, wouldn't it be better to control him, he is just a child for now, it will be easy to mould his…"

She didn't finish her sentence as she saw the matyre woman giving her a deathly glare which made her flinch subconsciously.

"Flora… It seems you don't really know, what you should say… and what you should keep to yourself." The mature said with a cold voice that sent shivers down the spine of receptionist.

"I-I…. I apologize for my atrocious words…"

"Send him to Charles and test the door of destiny with him, if it doesn't respond, then erase his memories… As for you… You are going to spend the rest of the day in the room of illusion."

The face of the receptionist paled as she heard her punishment.

The room of illusion was a place made for torturing a person mentally. In there, you will experience your worst fears as well as your deepest secrets again.

Even getting a physical punsihment was better than to stay in that horrible place.

But looking at the serious expression on the face of the woman sitting behind the desk, The receptionist knew that there was no room for argument.

She, for the one, knew the most that once her 'Milady' decides something, it is extremely hard to change her mind.

Regretting her actions of even opening her mouth, she left the room with a droopy expression on her face.

Now alone in the room, the mature woman was leaning back on the chair while staring somewhere out of the window.

"Why… why did you appear now… when I had already lost all hope…"

She mumbled in a helpless expression which was followed by a sigh.

"Even though you took your sweet time… I still remember the promise… the promise I made that day…"

Her expression changed as a sad smile appeared on her face…

"I just hope… that time time, I won't be disappointed again…."

...

Back to Issei, he was currently experiencing the reason as to why everyone hated school so much.

It had been an hour and the teacher is still going on and on about passive and active speeches in English.

A smile blossomed on the faces of students the sound sound of bell ringing came, signaling the end of the class.

Issei quickly put his belongings in his bag and marched out of the room without waiting for anyone.

Looking at the schedule, he found out that he was free for an hour, which was perfect time to go and check the library.

Like before, he followed the directions on the Map, which was drawn nearly at every other corner of the campus.

Entering the library, he found himself getting surrounded by a quite atmosphere, with pin drop silence.

There were a few students who were already there and reading something, but no one bothered him at all.

He silently moved towards the Language section and found a book on mastering English. He knew that in this place, it was extremely important to not only understand but to be able to pronounce English properly.

No one is going to bully him or anything for wrong pronouncing words incorrectly, but it was more of a personal satisfaction for him.

Taking a chair, he silently sat at a corner and started reading the book named "English for Dummies."

He read the book three times, and just like before he could recall every word in the book.

Not only that, but after putting some more effort, he understood the basics of English.

Even though his vocabulary isn't that big, but still he won't be in a pricky situation of he had to talk in English again.

He looked over at his wrist watch which was given to him by his father, and saw that he still had time before his next class.

He made a quick decision and decided to learn French, Spanish and other popular languages as well when he had the chance.

He lost the track of the time as he fully immersed himself I'm understanding the basic concept behind different languages.

It was truly fascinating to experience the diversity in the world first hand.

As he read about different languages, the thirst for knowledge and learning grew more and more.

Fortunately or unfortunately, The sound of the bell ringing from the distance snapped him back to reality.

He shook his head with a helpless expression

'I have to stay focused on my goal.'

He thought and made his way to his next class…

But what he didn't expect was the fact that a girl about his own age would be waiting for him outside the library…

"Is your name Hyoudou Issei?"

"Yeah. How can I help you?"

"I am asked to bring you by our teacher."

Issei frowned internally. He didn't knew anyone here. What would someone want to meet him, not to mention a teacher.

"Show me the way." Issei said with a smile.

The girl didn't reply anymore and started walking, while Issei followed her.

While following her, Issei tried to make casual conversation

"So, which teacher asked you to bring me?"

The girl didn't reply for a few moments, just as Issei was about to say something else, she said without stopping

"He is our History teacher."

Was she considering what to say all this time?

Issei couldn't help but think of this possibility, other than that he didn't knew why she took so much time to reply back.

"Do you know why he wanted to see me?"

"No"

Issei felt awkward talking to her, maybe it was her way of talking, but it left no room for more conversation.

He didn't talked anymore and just silently followed her, the girl took a left down the hallway and arrived at the front of a corner room.

There were no other rooms in the corridor and no student nearby, if Issei was a normal student, he would totally be scared at this moment.

The eery silence in the surrounding accounted to make the atmosphere even more solemn.

The girl stopped and turned towards him

"He is inside. I have classes, so I will take my leave." before leaving she threw a rather… Sympathetic? Gaze towards him.

Without any hesitation, he opened the door which creaked in the silent atmosphere.

*CREAK!!*

Issei questioned the management of the furniture of such a renowned school but eventually shrugged it off.

Moving through the threshold, he found himself in a empty classroom, there were many seats placed and a projector set up.

Suddenly, a high pitched voice came from somewhere.

"Well hello there"
