The Day Sun Broke Out

The thumping sound continued, occurring in rhythm like someone's heart was beating. But as the thumping continued, the destroyed skull's laughter died down, only to be replaced by something far more dreadful.

A knight clad in blood-red armor stepped out of the blob of blood. It's lance pointing right where Licht was. Towards the dreadful and anxious face of the man.

As if deluding himself into fake valor, a small smile crept on the man's face.

"Guess I won't be going back home tonight," he said as he stepped forward one step at a time in an ethereal way and suddenly appeared right in front of the blood calamity.

Both the calamity and the man looked each other in the face. Their bloodied eyes gazed at each other for a moment before a colossal battle started.

Their weapons clashed hundreds of times in a matter of seconds, their attacks were so perfect that not even a scratch came to their bodies, but the same couldn't be surrounding place.

Everything in their surrounding got destroyed by the shockwave of their attacks. The calamities and humans alike had long run away from this dreadful battle.

Faraway, Licht was gazing at this phenomenal scene with awe. He couldn't fathom the power behind these attacks. Even the aura from these monsters was enough to crush him to death.

There was a hidden meaning behind each and every one of their attacks. This was a battle Licht couldn't ever dream of, well he was dreaming though...

The calamities, corrupted, and everything in between were mindless opponents. They only attacked out of spite and rage. They couldn't care less for sophistication or techniques.

The more Licht looked at it, the more his comprehension increased.

When he couldn't think of any way out of the claws of these otherworldly powers. He had to sacrifice something of his.

But, oh boy, was he so wrong. He had so many pathways to win. It was like a clogged waterfall was suddenly opened as his mind was flooded with tens of ways of winning the same battles he had struggled so desperately in.

But this comprehension suddenly came to a stop as the man's defense finally gave in to an insidious attack done by the calamity.

Just when he was defending against one of its harder blows, a spike made out of blood erupted out of the ground and pierced his stomach, opening his body for another attack.

Luckily he used some sort of wind barrier to protect himself that negated the attack.

With the attack of the blood calamity wasted, the man tried to make distance from it, but it didn't let him do so. It followed him like a moth driven to light.

"You know what? You deserve this special attack of mine," said the man as his hand pierced his chest, only to take out a small bead of green color that he crushed.

When something extraordinary happened, a sudden burst erupted out of his body as it pressed upon the body of the giant, constricting it to the ground.

Just as its body was constricted to the ground, a hand appeared out of the thin air which picked the calamity up and tried to crush it. The calamity tried everything to get out of it, taking up formless shapes to get out of it.

The calamity's efforts went wasted with each second that passed, but it wasn't out of energy as a ball appeared by itself in the air. It dripped crimson blood onto the hand, slowly eroding the hand.

The terror of the blood ball didn't end there as it took some of the blood of the man. His face started to pale with time.

'What kind of horrifying powers do these people have….' this thought occurred in Licht's mind.

He knew he was dreaming as he suddenly appeared in this world, but he knew what was happening around him as fragments of information appeared in his mind.

But that didn't matter right now. The battle took incredible turns in just moments. At this point, anyone could be the winner, or no one could be the winner…

The man's orifices bled as his mind blurred. His whole body was bloody some seconds after the blood ball appeared.

"Ah, it looks like I will die today,"

"Forgive me, my lord. I couldn't serve you until the end," said the man as he looked at the parting clouds. It was like the heavens were calling him into their embrace.

"What a shame…what..cough…a shame," he murmured as his eyes closed down and he summoned a bow made out of converging winds.

The bow contained the power of hurricanes and resonated with the man as if wanting to shoot the most destructive arrow.

On the man's other hand appeared an arrow made out of silvery green metal. Its arrowhead looked like an elegant eagle, as every line on its shaft represented its feathers.

The arrow flowed right into the bow. Another wind of resonance spread out of the man as the epicenter. His eyes suddenly shot up as dark green blood oozed off them.

The arrow shot right into the calamity's chest, and then nothing happened.

Or so it seemed before the calamity's body expanded into a hundred-meter-wide blob and then converged into a small point and ceased to exist.

For the first time, sunlight shone out from the parting clouds for the first time in these lands, but the atmosphere was nothing except dread as people slowly gathered around the dead man.

He was on the ground in a half-kneeling position as a pool of blood kept flowing out of him. The crowd mourned the death of the person for reasons unknown to Licht.

Like it was obvious because someone had died, but hundreds and thousands of people crying for one person? This was unheard of even to someone like him from Earth.

This mourning died down when a massive presence erupted from the place where the calamity was killed. A person with lustrous yellow hair slowly walked up to the man's dead body.

People left and right fell under the aura of this one man, his eyes shown like the radiant sun, and his face reflected the sun.

His beautiful face showed no expression, but everyone who was still conscious of his pressure could feel his wrath.

"Ah, Zephyr. I...I was too late," his voice sounded as his hands touched the shoulders of the dead man. He moved the dead body into a lying position and murmured something to himself.

Licht could feel something eerie. This atmosphere was just too weird to ignore. He couldn't pinpoint it.

It was....hideous.

Suddenly Licht's heart started beating rapidly as the golden-haired man turned his face to the place he was standing.

Licht was sure the man couldn't see him, but it was as if he could look into a different world. As if past and present were but a mere illusion to him.

The man whispered something and shook his head, his tears flowed like molten lava when he ran toward Licht, and rays of light converged into his hands.

Just before the rays touched Licht, the world broke down into pieces as the man's voice resounded.

"We will meet, Licht...."
