Chapter 38: The final battle of the Williard Village (1)
Beelzebub received instant access to the ice tomb and Gloria's mana veins.
His heart squeezed with tremendous pain then.
It wasn't his curse of going against the heavens hurting him randomly.
It was because Beelzebub's assumptions were now as clear as the sky.
Having all access to his white-haired maid's body, Beelzebub confirmed that Gloria was no longer a high-level existence. Her mana veins were so messed up that most of her strength and mana would escape her body the moment she received her freedom.
The demons had schemed it so that all of this energy would go for their use.
Of course, Gloria still had her level and strength, but even Beelzebub was helpless before it, unable to save even half of her strength.
It'd be awesome to have Gloria at her peak by his side, as that alone would solve so many problems.
But Beelzebub didn't think of it this way and instead grew more furious as he blamed himself for Gloria losing all her levels. He turned his feelings into a deep determination and focused on his task.
His soul fingers sank deeper into the ice prison's coldness. Being a ghost with access to it, Beelzebub easily could send his soul fingers to Gloria's side and change her seemingly undeniable fate.
'I'll use your predicament to assure your escape, Gloria… and before you leave this place, I'll ensure you'll be able to mete out punishment for the demons.' Beelzebub inwardly thought, imagining the layout of the chasm and how many enemies his maid would have to deal with to reach the hidden route.
After all, Gloria was the demon's hidden card as well. She was their battery to break the prison and escape their confinement, which had been going on for too long now.
The demons wouldn't allow her to just say goodbye and leave. Similarly, Gloria would love to kill as many as possible as a death sentence for playing with her body.
Even though no foreign hands had ever touched her, the demons' schemes had fiddled with her mana veins, which alone was too repulsive.
Understanding his maid, Beelzebub knew she would like that… he also needed her to fight to escape this place.
And with those thoughts and feelings, Beelzebub's mission lasted for a few hours.
He then hid all his traces off the ice tomb and returned to the hidden route.
No demon suspected him.
Thus, Beelzebub left the chasm successfully.
-
A few days had passed since Beelzebub's visit to the chasm.
He never slacked and worked more than anyone else in the village.
Other than preparing more fake hearts to injure the demons from the inside, David went around the village with his new status and collected ghosts for his alchemy, conjuring wondrous stuff for himself.
Beelzebub naturally concocted more pills and potions for the villagers. Their elation had to stay hidden, but even common villagers could see that their main forces felt much better and stronger, suppressing something.
And if ordinary people could have noticed it, the same went for the demons lurking in the shadows.
Which translated to them deeply scouring the whole village… and even themselves.
Oblivious to those changes, Beelzebub didn't know that the demons had found out about his poison flowing in their blood!
Things were on his side, however.
The poison was so unique that they couldn't eject it themselves. The demons had a few alchemists locked in the chasm, but their lack of ability to deal with Beelzebub's schemes only ended up with them dying from enraged, stronger demons.
This left the demons with only one choice — find the hideous bastard… and kill the rest.
Therefore, on that day, for the first time ever in a thousand years, the demonic roar billowed from the chasm, sweeping in all four directions.
The forest surrounding it bent as though trying to run away. Alas, it remained rooted in its place, only able to observe monsters of the forest abandoning their dwellings with frightened forms. They all scurried away like cowards, bringing chaos to other villages and forests.
At the same time, the rumbling continued.
Perched closest to the source of the demon's fury, the Williard Village shivered in its entirety. All houses, facilities, and roads had cracks scattering across them like veins. Tiles were falling like rain, and few poor and feeble houses had contracted as though made of cards.
As more and more scars rippled across the poor land, the villagers crowded one of the main routes to their village. They naturally crowded the more prominent and furthest away path from the chasm, ready to give up on their wealth to preserve their lives.
A lot of weak-minded people shared this mindset, blanketing the roads in utter disorder.
While everyone trashed and bumped into each other, fighting to leave as fast as possible, the soil wailed louder, and its wounds became wider, gobbling a few unfortunate humans inside.
The earthquake and screams of the population fought against each other to be louder…
And on the eastern side of the village, where the sewers' facilities were located, the cracks became bigger and bigger, joining each other like water. The booming earth was the loudest here, too, and the reason for it soon became known to everyone.
The roar of the chasm transported there, throwing away all hurdles to the skies. Pieces of sewers, caves, houses, and even workers' equipment littered the clear sky.
But that wasn't what gathered the attention of everyone.
A black paw rose to scratch the clouds. And as though irked that there were none the paw fell onto the ground, crushing more facilities with its absurd strength. Then like a demon from the nightmares, the face of the demonic dog emerged from hell, locking his eyes on the mass.
The whole village became drowned in cold silence.
Only the grunts of the demon resounded loudly.
His entire form soon slithered from the depth of hell, eclipsing the entire village.
Humanity gawked at the demon while trembling from head to toe. Some lost all strength in their legs, unluckily wobbling into the wide cracks. Perhaps, they didn't want to be eaten by that monster… the rest had different reactions, but many had shut their eyes and covered their mouths to not let out any sound.
They were so horrified by what had appeared that it was already a miracle that they hadn't joined the ranks of unconscious people… and there were many of them.
Only one person remained calm and composed.
"The forest should be a safe zone for now. Find a cave and wait for good news." Beelzebub softly spoke to Bruno, Patricia, and Wetherell.
He told them to escape.
He then turned around and looked at the older man, Aric. "Go with them. If there's a monster left in the forest, they will struggle."
Aric didn't know what to do.
He had a responsibility to fight for his village… but how could he even face such an abnormality?
He was like an ant before the demon!
And then, suddenly, Aric shook his head. "My father and grandfather worked to death on these soils. This is our home, which I swore to protect. I'll believe in your judgment and think of the forest as the safe zone."
He fished out pills Beelzebub had prepared for him and devoured them in one go.
"I'll fight for my home!" Aric roared and rushed to join his friends.
And the wave of humanity's determination then swept through their village, slapping the demon in the face.
Humans rose to protect those they loved.
They rose to protect their lands!
Beelzebub stared at the man's back while fiddling with the blue pearl: it rolled around his fingers like a Jojo. "A vast projection enough to shadow the whole village… A lot of demons must have joined this one. This solves Gloria's issue but creates a new one."
Her only escape route was blocked by the demon's ass…
Beelzebub faintly smiled, taking a first step forward.
Among the remains of the weeping village, David ambled toward the demon dog in nothing but plain clothes. He lacked his loyal maids, equipment, levels, and resources. Even though his bearing backed him up, it was surely not enough to match his prime.
However, today, he shall get back one of the most precious parts of what made the world know that Beelzebub was nearby….
[You have eaten seven reinforcement pills in perfect order, drawing out their entire properties!]

[You have eaten low imperial judgment pill!]

Beelzebub's dark abyss eyes sparked with golden lightning. "Open your eyes, Gloria Cottonfluff."
At the depths of the chasm, the ice prison shook, and cracks started spreading like worms on its form.
Beneath the shining icy glass, the sleeping fox woman revealed her red eyes to demons standing by on the watch, and the intensity of her gaze left them scared shitless…
…and confused.
How did she wake up? If that 'bastard' helped her leave her prison, who exactly was he?
No way… Beelzebub himself was here, right?
"I'll get rid of the demons above you." Beelzebub's voice reached his maid's heart, his eyes still sparkling with the golden lightning. "You do you down below."
"Don't sound so cool after leaving me, Beel." Gloria's lips curved into a sneer. "And you know what I'll do. I'll murder them alive."
