Beelzebub's Masterpiece (3)

Chapter 23: Beelzebub's Masterpiece (3)

The Ant Queen's regal entry had silenced the scene.

Her hulking form turned Beelzebub into an insignificant ant, for she towered for at least sixteen feet and was as tough as monsters from dungeons. Her high defenses rendered David's attempt to wound and break the silence laughable, shaming him even further.

It became apparent that the fire demon couldn't wound the queen… even though her form was as though the blue crystal of the highest quality, rich in exquisite nutrients.

And as the queen's insect wings swiftly vibrated, David's flames could no longer even try to scratch her. The same went for Beelzebub's slave.

The black dog had gone past all other enemies to sneakily advance on the monster queen. Alas, the blast of her wind was enough to kick the slave away. Beelzebub ordered his demon to stay behind and save his strength for later.

'There's only one way to kill her…' Beelzebub inwardly muttered, raising his hands to take the brunt of the queen's first attack.

He knew it would hurt him as hell, but there was no other way to answer the monster's strike. Albeit more fragile than people of a fantasy world, Beelzebub believed he would be able to endure her might.

And so, he waited for her to hit him. Once close, Beelzebub would reveal another card and go for his plan…

At least, that was what he wanted to do.

Unfortunately, The Ant Queen was faster than Beelzebub had been expecting. Her massive shape progressed forward so quickly as though teleporting, which was not so uncommon in another world… dragons flew faster than planes, for example. And when the monster overshadowed the demon, her form crushed into him.

David adapted to her move as fast as possible and threw his right shoulder behind, taking the brunt of her power with his left arm and shoulder.

"Ahhh!"

Beelzebub's lips parted unconsciously, and before his ears recorded his voice, his screams bounced off the cavern's walls alongside the sound of his bones shattering within his slender frame.

His left arm and shoulder seemed beyond repairing, lifelessly dangling on the side. The pain throbbed so much that David momentarily couldn't think of anything else. It was similar to the ghost girl wanting Bruno's attention but much, much worse.

He also flew a few inches away from the queen, but she didn't give him time to breathe. The Ant Queen once again cast her shadow on him, swallowing the demon in her royal aura.

And then, her pincers went down, with the gust coming from her wings pinning Beelzebub to the ground.

The demon was utterly immobilized by the monster. It seemed like he couldn't even raise his intact right hand to protest or beg for forgiveness.

He only had his fearless eyes set on the monster… Beelzebub's heart hadn't pounded his chest, either. He didn't feel threatened by the sharp weapons enclosing him: all because he understood that his hardships were a mere drop compared to what his dear people had gone through.

And Beelzebub had the means to escape his predicament.

SNAP!

A few inches away from the demon, an earth seed had been planted inside. It was not a normal seed, for it was what the mercenaries had swallowed before embarking on the adventure. This seed was one of Beelzebub's magic skills, and it alone couldn't sustain itself.

It was different when Beelzebub used his alchemy and provided seeds with resources: the mercenaries had been aiding the magic with their mana, and then, Beelzebub had fed the seeds with his infinite mana, keeping the infinite resources hidden in the ground.

A small shoot thus blossomed and extended into a long vine, rapidly coiling around Beelzebub's right wrist and yanking him away from the danger.

The Ant Queen's pincers missed the demon's flesh, then she shockingly turned to the side.

Beelzebub rose to his feet and faced her with the same calm expression. "A miracle after miracle sounds impossible… don't you think so, very kind miss?"

No amount of soul slaves would have helped Beelzebub deal with this monster.

Therefore, he could only rely on his magic, which was nearly entirely sealed behind the limitations of his new body and path… but Beelzebub had already shredded those limits once, so what stopped him from repeating the feat?

It was naturally his body and soul!

Even now, just thinking about what he wanted to do caused his heart to pound wildly in his chest. His vision blurred for a second, and beads of cold sweat obscured his eyes.

A think blood streak streamed down from the corner of Beelzebub's lips, too…

A destructive pain shook the demon, nearly making him fall to his knees… which seemed as though the divine power interfered with Beelzebub's ideas.

But while all those side-effects of Beelzebub's ambition took over him, his right hand had never stopped going high. Of course, Beelzebub didn't want to show a middle finger to the heavens.

David was following his plan.

His weary eyes saw The Ant Queen madly rushing at him, for she had a strong foreboding. That image wasn't so significant, for Beelzebub had seen, attended, and dealt with far more fantastic and dangerous existences.

He closed his eyes and imagined the battle against the imperial archmage, whose magic was second to none. On that day, Beelzebub experienced one of the most important events of his life.

He had finally poured his soul into his magic, bringing himself closer to the demon whose steps he followed.

"Ahhhhhhhh!" Beelzebub dropped flat onto the ground and cried as though countless ants gnawed on him from the inside and outside.

But there was only one ant that mattered on the scene — The Ant Queen.

She couldn't take a step forward, though…

…for amidst the demon's cries, all the earth seeds he had planted beforehand blossomed into a small forest, filling the cavern with mist and black trees. However, the former treasure vault lacked space to contain Beelzebub's magic, compelling the trees and their branches to snap and bend.

Thus, in the middle of the scene, with all the mist rolling onto her face, The Ant Queen had caught a glimpse of the black trees' faces carved on their barks from the pale emerald light.

The trees heard the wailing of their master, who was rolling on the ground from the pain of going against the limits of his body, not once but twice.

And the cause of it was encased by them…

Their shining lips turned into evil masks… and their tough branches stretched toward the monster queen.

Against the skill, which was a prelude to the supreme magic, The Ant Queen stood helpless and stupefied.

Her reign will soon cease… and its demise began with her kingdom turning into the soul forest.
