Chapter 22: Beelzebub's Masterpiece (2)
A small blue pearl with a green star shining in the middle landed on Beelzebub's palm.
It was light and shimmered brightly, trying to grasp its master's attention to show how awesome and cool it was. Perfectly rounded and drawn, Beelzebub's first masterpiece would suit everyone's needs. Women would love to have that piece turned into a necklace, ring, or earring, while seasoned men instantly would see the lethal power brimming in this small yet beautiful object.
Of course, it went both ways, but the point still stood the same — this pearl in experienced hands would cause a lot of chaos!
[Beelzebub's First Masterpiece(Legendary) - Facing the first real hurdle on his new adventure, Beelzebub showcased his experience, will, and determination to fulfill his goals, causing a miracle to befall him and his cauldron. Concocted through his legendary skills, knowledge, and many precious and dreadful resources, the Lord Of Soul's first masterpiece possesses a noxious poison that can only be ignited through his green flames. Only Beelzebub(David) can use this pearl as a resource.]
[Unique effect: The pearl exudes an invisible odor, which is poisonous to demon kin.]
BANG!
Clenching tightly his first masterpiece, which in the alchemy world was known as the highest grade a pill or any other resource or ingredient could ever gain, David's eyes rose to the boulder blocking the entrance to the treasure vault, which was now empty.
The boulder broke, and the first enemies crossed the threshold doing their queen's bidding.
"Thank you for waiting for me to finish this piece. Very kind of you, The Ant Queen."
The cave was dark and empty, with only Beelzebub's form lighting up the scene. He had already stored the pearl in his pocket, so there was nothing unique left in the room except for the demon, of course. This very demon wasn't alone, and his slave opened his jaws to take down his first enemies.
Though in a soul form, Anador's black dog's jaws were as sharp as polished blades, which with he used to tear down the first ants.
Having intelligence backed up by his fragmented memories, Anador outsmarted the first wave of enemies, not sustaining any severe wounds. The same couldn't be said about the blue ants, whose shapes leaked out blue blood…
Anador didn't have any hurdles stopping him from sinking his teeth into the gruesome bodies of ants, his muzzle going left and right as he continued the massacre. He crushed slowly dying ants with his paws, prematurely ending their torment.
And as the first enemies lost their lives, Beelzebub used the skill he had been hiding all this time.
[The Soul Discipline has been used on the defeated enemies, temporarily enslaving them.]
[You have acquired ten souls of blue ants.]
The souls rose from the mauled by Anador bodies, shining in blue color. Their shade was different than that of human souls, and their forms were no more disfigured — because the black dog understood that attacking their souls would be against his master's plan — and they were ready to fight against their former allies.
The rest of the blue ants had been momentarily confused by this development, gawking at their kin, only to be awakened by Beelzebub's souls.
Unfortunately for the blue ants, the moment they understood that their enemy could steal away their allies was their last minute, for the demon had control over his soldiers, ordering them to skillfully devour his enemies.
Beelzebub faintly smiled and raised his hands, only to clutch his heart and close his eyes. "Ugh… the toil hit me earlier than I expected…."
His legendary class hadn't reset his level for no reason. He became a full-fledged demon, and his body needed a new development, to say nothing of the legendary skills heavily straining him… Beelzebub used them against the limits burdening him, which was both a worthy achievement and poison.
Luckily, Beelzebub was not a fool and scarcely had used those skills.
And his immense determination allowed him to straighten his back and confidently face his enemies!
Beelzebub's lungs heated up, and so did his arms. His chest then ballooned up, and as he joined his palms, both his lips and hands spat emerald flames forth.
Like a carpet meant to adorn this cave by blanketing the blue ants, the flames devoured everything before them! Moreover, Beelzebub's magic clearly recognized his allies from enemies, not hurting or disabling already gathered ant slaves, who continued their march to greet The Ant Queen.
David was that good.
'Today I grind like I should have been from the start!'
It was not the first time Beelzebub found himself in front of countless enemies whose sole purpose of existence was to kill him. He had been here a lot of times during his gaming career… and while David didn't have any insurance of returning back home through the respawn feature and his life was in danger, Beelzebub was far from being concerned about his safety.
He had enough means to survive, and everything already had been lined up for his victory!
But all setups and coincidences didn't match Beelzebub's determination, the will to reunite with his maids, and the desire to return to the top, blazing in his dark abyss eyes!
Beelzebub stuffed his mouth with painkillers he had concocted and resumed spitting at the monsters.
His infinite ammo quickly threatened the queen's instincts.
-
The Ant Queen had soon caught up with Beelzebub's schemes.
The cavern the demon was located in had a narrow entrance, which meant that her soldiers couldn't enter at once, causing her forces to suffer fatal losses… which was not that bad. Her enemy couldn't possibly have infinite mana, could he?
At some point, he should fall together with his soul forces…
That belief lasted until The Ant Queen had caught a glimpse of Beelzebub's forces hacking her kin relatively close to her throne, which she had brought with herself to watch the thief's death comfortably on her seat.
Alas, something within her whispered that the invader was more capable than all previous thieves combined.
Her instinct told her to personally execute him, which she listened to.
The Ant Queen's wings flapped louder than the plane's engines, and her gargantuan form flew through the tunnel like a rocket, crashing the narrow entrance into pieces and thus widening it.
Her domineering blitz had killed her kin and Beelzebub's souls. And as her hulking form was as tough as monsters from dungeons, Beelzebub's flames splashed on her.
Such a heavy entry drowned the cave and the demon's might in silence, sharpening the queen's already overbearing aura.
Beelzebub's smile slowly faded.
Another serious hurdle appeared on his way.
Fortunately… it was the last hurdle for today… right?
