How could he, how could he speak of himself like this?
No matter what he did or said in the past, she would swallow her anger, but now he was spouting madness, insulting her like this.
Sophia Cloud's heart chilled to the extreme, her whole body as if it had fallen into an ice cave, cold through and through.
With her chin tightly grasped, she winced in pain, her eyebrows furrowing, hands frantically scraping at his hands, tears welling up in her eyes, on the verge of spilling out the next second.
She kept shaking her head, defending herself, that it wasn't as he thought, but how could Leo Harrell possibly believe her?
He scoffed, "Haven't you used your body? Wasn't your previous contract also obtained with your body? Just divorced, and you're already so shameless. You truly disappoint me."
He spoke of disappointment, but when hadn't she been disappointed?
Perhaps her disappointment had built up more and more, all crowded together, deeply rooted and sprouting in the bottom of her heart.
Sophia's tears spilled over. She opened her mouth, wanting to defend herself, but in the end, she couldn't utter a word.
She could only sob softly.
Leo continued to stab at the wound in her chest, "Can't live without a man? Couldn't cling to me, so you turned to Christopher Lewis? Impressive! Can't stand the tough times? So vain, truly an eye-opener for me."
His sarcastic words were like knives, repeatedly jabbing at her heart.
Sophia looked at him through tearful eyes, the despair and disappointment in her eyes growing evermore. She was not as vile as he imagined.
All she did was go to work, just to earn money for the child's medical bills!
What was her fault?
She roared these thoughts countless times in her heart, but they were never expressed.
Because Leo didn't give her a chance, he fiercely pushed her away, looking down at her as if she were no more than an ant.
"Sophia Cloud, you truly disgust me."
Saying that, he took out a tissue, meticulously wiping his fingers as if touching her was akin to touching something filthy.
Sophia's pale face fell to the ground, next to the restroom, where the floor was wet with many stains; it was unclear whether they were from cleaning or something dirty.
She was indifferent, her eyes fixated on his retreating figure. She desperately wanted to rush forward, grab his hand, and tell him it wasn't like that, but she lacked the courage.
Leo always scorned her.
Both physically and mentally, he despised her.
Tears slid silently down her cheeks as Sophia stood up awkwardly, her clothes soaked with the wet stains, looking even more disheveled.
After leaving the restroom, she sniffed, looking at herself in the mirror. She couldn't help but scoop up some cold water and splash it on her face to stay alert.
Washing away the tear stains from her face, she rubbed her swollen eyes.
She slapped her cheeks in front of the mirror, telling herself countless times in her heart, it's okay! It will be okay!
When she returned to her seat, Christopher was on the phone, speaking about something. When he saw her come back, and then saw her swollen eyes, he immediately hung up.
He slightly furrowed his brows, standing up to support her shoulders, "What's wrong?"
Then, noticing her damp clothes, his frown deepened, "What happened? Did you fall over?"
Sophia shook her head, not making any explanation, just quickly packed her things, bowed deeply to him, and gestured that she was leaving.
Christopher wasn't one to pry, he pursed his lips, "I'll take you."
She shook her head, her emotions very low, bowed to him, and then left.
Her almond-shaped eyes were particularly attractive, and her skin was fair and tender, swelling red with just a few tears.
Christopher thought about how pitiful she looked just now, panicked at heart, and began to follow her out.
At that moment, a waiter hurried over, blocking his path, "Sir, please settle the bill."
After paying the bill, by the time he rushed out the door, there was no sign of Sophia Cloud in sight.
As he was annoyed, he saw Leo Harrell and Evelyn Smith walking out of the sushi restaurant, their atmosphere between them very intimate.
Thinking of Sophia's complexion just now, Christopher stepped forward to block their path, his eyes unusually cold, "Leo Harrell."
Leo looked at the man before him, not seeing Sophia's figure, a flicker of unclear intent in his eyes, then asked casually, "Is there something you need, Mr. Lewis?"
Christopher didn't beat around the bush and went straight to the point, "It was you who did something to Sophia, wasn't it?"
Leo was unconcerned and gave an evasive answer, "I wonder, Mr. Lewis, are you really that interested in a woman who has just divorced? Is it a unique taste of yours, or are you just not discerning?"
His words were full of ridicule for both Sophia and Christopher, every word piercing the heart.
Christopher scoffed, "I don't care what you did to her, let me tell you, if there is the slightest harm to Sophia, I will not let you off!"
Leo's expression remained unchanged, "We shall see."
The two men locked eyes, with undercurrents surging, as if a challenge had been laid down; this was their battlefield.
Evelyn stood aside; she certainly knew about Leo going to the restroom, but seeing him challenge Christopher over Sophia made her feel anxious.
That slut Sophia really had her ways! Even though she was already divorced, she could effortlessly provoke a man's anger!
A vicious look flashed in her eyes, then she chuckled softly, speaking to Christopher, "If there's nothing else, Mr. Lewis, please make way; we are going home."
Eventually, Christopher snorted coldly and left first, heading straight for the hospital.
Sophia returned to the hospital, where Arthur had just finished his IV and was lying in bed listening to Tiana Cooper telling a story.
Seeing Sophia, he flapped his hands, babbling, only a little over a year old, managing to call out twice, "Mama."
The previous disappointment disappeared in an instant; she smiled and held Arthur in her arms, emitting an "Mm" from her throat.
Apart from these sounds, she could not vocalize any other words.
Tiana closed the storybook, about to ask something, but she immediately noticed Sophia's swollen eyes and directly asked, "Did Leo Harrell do something to you again?"
Sophia was startled and looked up at her with eyes as if to ask how she knew.
Tiana snorted, "Besides Leo Harrell, who else could bully you like this?"
Looking around, apart from Arthur who could touch her heart, the only other was Leo Harrell.
What was so good about this man that he had taken root in her heart for so long, making her unable to forget him?
For so long, he had hurt her enough; yet she was still so foolishly oblivious.
Sophia lowered her eyelashes, hiding the complex emotions in her eyes. After collecting herself, she raised her head again, gave Tiana a silly smile, and typed out today's events for her to see.
Tiana was surprised, "You went to work at Lewis's company?"
Sophia nodded, her eyes smiling into slits.
All of a sudden, Tiana's gossiping spirit blazed up, and she said, "It seems our Sophia's romantic luck is coming."
