The Right Arm of the Saint

Third Person PoV

"Senpai, that was your familiar?"

Yukina asked with a barely disguised hint of fear in her voice. Although she looked calm on the outside and her voice didn't give away much, her mind once again was in a mess.

'That wasn't in the file, again!'

"Yes, it was." Kojou answered, still looking in the direction the two ran away.

"You said that this vampire's familiar was big, but wasn't your's even larger."

Kojou just laughed at her and started walking back home.

'Gotta get the ice cream!'

Kojou was walking to school, with Asagi latched onto his left arm, while Yukina was on his right.

"You did a lot of damage last night Kojou! Around a billion yen! The island management is searching for the suspect."

Yukina's face changed drastically.

"Aiba-senpai, what are you talking about?"

The girl prodded to check how much she knew.

'The mission may very well be compromised at this rate. Half the information in the file is by now useless!'

Yukina was now unsure as to what to do, her past missions were nothing like this.

"Oh! You know when you decided to be the heroine and check the cause of the explosion and Kojou had to save your ass from a deranged exorcist, leading to him shredding a part of the float enough to use it as a stainer maybe?"

Asahi said while snickering and internally laughing gleefully seeing the abject horror on the face of Yukina.

The sword shaman staggered back and asked with a tremor in her voice.

"Akatsuki-senpai, you told her everything?"

Again Kojou was silent while Asagi said back

"Whose blood you think it was that awakened that familiar last night, miss observer?"

Again the snarky tone in the senior's voice made Yukina shocked.

"You know about him?"

"Everything! More than you too!"

At that, Asagi stuck her tongue out and showed Yukina. The poor middle schooler was now having trouble seeing the senpai, who was calm and collected, act like an elementary school student to piss her off.

"Alright, Asagi. That is enough. Leave the poor girl alone. She is only here because the organisation ordered her."

"Fine!"

Kojou then looked towards Yukina, who was looking as if someone had hit her pet dog with a car.

"Sorry about that, she is a bit protective of me. And you being here to eliminate me is not helping it."

Yukina nodded her head and kept moving, falling back into pace with the couple.

'Why am I feeling sad seeing senpai together with his girlfriend?'

While Kojou was into another thing

'I missed my morning training for three days straight now! Somehow gotta fool Himeragi and do it tomorrow.'

The vampire thought with conviction

"Have you reported about yesterday to your superior?"

Asagi questioned breaking the silence.

"No."

"Why?" Kojou asked

"Because it wasn't your fault, Akatsuki-senpai. And you also saved me."

With a blush on her face, the observer bowed a little and said

"Thank you!"

"Indeed! It is as you put. It was self defence."

Kojou said, trying to justify the overkill he did yesterday and to run away from the compensation he may have to pay.

"But there is no evidence. Even if I testify, it wouldn't matter as the LKO is on bad terms with the police, so it may backfire."

Hearing that, Kojou looked towards the resident hacker and looked at her with hope

"Nope. All the cctv's were toast by the time you two reached there. And what was remaining was destroyed by you."

At that Kojou was looking a bit depressed.

But Asagi continued

"And it doesn't matter anyways."

And at that Yukina questioned

"Why?"

By now the three had reached the monorail station, which was delayed due the path being destroyed yesterday.

"He is the 4th Primogenitor, laws don't apply to him. And who is going to ask the mightiest vampire to pay compensation money? People will be too scared of his familiars."

"That is indeed correct, that familiar was monstrous. It was scary even."

Yukina said with a blank look on her face as she reminisced about the last night.

"They can destroy this island with relative ease, if I want to try."

Kojou said nonchalantly, making Yukina's neck snap in his direction, it even made an audible crack.

"Now that's something to be scared of."

Asagi said in a happy voice, enjoying the look of horror on the little girl's face.

"You wouldn't!"

"Of course I will not! I am not a psychopath."

Kojou said, calming the observer.

Now that the three were aboard the monorail. Asagi said

"You know after hearing that most will try to eliminate him."

"Yes, but this is Akatsuki-senpai we are talking about."

Hearing that Asagi narrowed her eyes at the girl, making her squirm.

'Really Kojou! It's been three days and she is falling for you.'

Asagi mentally sighed, but then with a smirk she stood in front of Kojou, and leaned onto him.

Making Yukina wide eyes and Kojou simply slipped a hand around her waist to keep her steady.

Looking at the blush and envious look in the sword shaman's eye, Asagi smiled.

'Hmph!'

Kojou shook his head at the display but didn't say anything. Enjoying the feeling of softness on his body.

The three were near the academy when a familiar voice to the two high schoolers called them out.

"Yo! The academy couple is here. This isn't Nagisa-chan?"

The hyper adapter said seeing the new girl, the surprise was evident in his eyes.

"Oh! Yes. This is Himeragi, a friend of Nagisa, she lives nearby so I took her with me."

Kojou introduced Yukina to his best friend.

"Good morning, I am Himeragi Yukina."

Yukina introduced herself.

"Oh it is Yukina-chan! Are you interested in music?"

"Music, Ah no-"

But before she could finish her line, she was interrupted by Asagi.

"Yeah, she is a guitarist. Also, Himeragi, didn't you have to meet up with Nagisa-chan?"

This time Yukina took up the hint and went on her merry way. But what Asagi didn't expect was Yaze being observant enough to see through the act.

"Hey, Kojou, isn't she a little weird?"

"Maybe, she just transferred so it can be nervousness."

"Hmm. Also don't get into anything troublesome."

"What?"

But Yaze left the two of them to contemplate his words. Asagi asked Kojou

"Kojou, what did Yaze mean by these words?"

"Most probably nothing, he just acts like this."

Asagi ignored the feeling of suspiciousness at Kojou's words. She didn't knew Yaze personally, and she trusted Kojou that he knew enough about his best friend.

As the class was about to start, the boys of the class minus Yaze and Kojou were looking at the phone and making word noises.

"Hey, Rin what is this about?"

"Apparently, some cute girl transferred into the middle school and somehow they managed to get her picture."

The boys then made their way to Kojou and began to pester him to help them set up with the girl. As his sister was also in the same class.

Just then Minamiya-sensei came to the door of the class and spoke. She was dressed in the everyday fashion of looking like a Gothic Lolita, but in a white dress with black ribbons.

"Is Akatsuki Kojou present here?"

Kojou stood up and looked at his English teacher, and seeing the smirk on her face he resigned himself to his fate.

'Isn't this just ominous.'

"Here!"

"Come to the guidance room during lunch break, also bring the transfer student along with you. I want to ask what you two did after you ran away from the arcade last night."

The boys were enraged hearing that, while Tsukishima came in front of Kojou and said

"What were you doing Kojou, you have Asagi!"

"Um, what"

Kojou said in confusion. The rest of the time before lunch passed for Kojou in a blur.

Standing in the guidance room, aka the office of Minamiya-sensei, Kojou was looking at her intently.

As his sense grew as his use of his powers grew, he was able to make out that his sensei wasn't a human, which didn't make any sense.

As attack mages are humans, and even Asagi doesn't know what to make of this, he left it that it was something related to her powers. Her name certainly gave ideas about her powers.

"You two are aware of the explosion that happened in the east island?"

"Yes." Kojou answered, he knew hiding would be futile.

"You see, in the past six months six such incidents have happened."

Both Kojou and Yukina were surprised at this information. The teacher then proceeded to put six files in front of them, containing the relevant details.

Kojou found the photos of the two men who tried to harass Yukina. He showed the pic to Yukina and asked

"What happened to these two?"

"One of them was safe but is still unconscious."

'Most probably the therianthrope.' Kojou deduced,

"So Akatsuki Kojou, until this case is closed. You are to refrain from cavorting at night. As the perpetrators of this crime are yet to be caught, as he may target you."

"That's all fine, but what do you mean by cavorting at night?"

"Hmph! At any rate you are warned." The witch signalled with her fan to dismiss them.

Just as Yukina was walking out, the English teacher threw something at her.

The mage caught it and a word escaped her mouth seeing the object.

"Nekomatan!"

She quickly realised her mistake but the teacher simply smiled and said

"It's your right? You forgot it."

Kojou watched this from the door and was also smirking.

"So it looks like Natsuki-chan knew about it. Looks like Nekomatan is a villain rather than a hero."

Yukina simply blushed and pouted at Kojou's proclamation.

"I am not talking about that, I am saying what about the combat deacon and the homunculus girl."

"What about them?"

"It seems that the police are after them, and seeing that only we were the ones who survived after encountering them, it is obvious that police are unaware of his identity as the combat deacon of Lotharingia."

"Why didn't you tell Natsuki-chan about this?" Kojou asked

"It is a crime of international level, hence under the jurisdiction of LKO. Also if we can catch him, then we can prove that your actions were under self defence."

"So you are saying that I need to catch those two to prove my innocence?"

'Looks like she still doesn't understand that I couldn't care less about this.'

Kojou was rawdogging a hotdog, taking it inside his mouth, and biting it off.

"So what's the plan?"

"I did some investigation this morning, and made a list of places he could be hiding."

Kojou looked at them and thought.

'Asagi was correct, all these places were the ones she told are a distraction, currently the deacon is in a place where I know, thank god I had Asagi find them last night.'

"But wouldn't it be too obvious? I think he will be in plain sight. Like among Lotharingians."

"That mean an embassy or a corporation having its origin in Lotharingia?"

"Yes."

Yukina was looking at awe in Kojou's intelligence, it was quite obvious she thought of him as a dumb guy.

'I could have figured this out on my own, but finding all the data would have taken too long, hence I had Asagi do it.'

"I know exactly where he is."

Kojou's sudden announcement made Yukina look at him in surprise,

"You do?"

"Island North, Level 2, Sector B, Scheldt Pharmaceuticals. Used to test drugs on homunculus lifeforms, closed when the corporation pulled out the research."

After school Kojou and Yukina went to the place. Kojou had already told Asagi about this.

In fact he also had a plan of his own. Asagi was on the train that he should just relax and leave it to the police, but Kojou was seeing an opportunity to awaken another one of his familiars.

'My plan may hurt my relationship with Himeragi, but a familiar is worth it. And not to mention she will still stay around, so rebuilding the relationship is possible.'

Also Kojou knew what was the goal of Eustache, the anchor of Itogami Island. It is an old artefact of the western church.

When the island was formed there wasn't a man-made item strong enough to act like the anchor.

Hence a mythical item was used, The Right Arm of the Saint.
