“She will, with a dozen monsters in tow.” Tone grinned, nodding hard.

The woman did come by the plaza late the following morning—with only two kids, both of whom were more interested in Shadow and Ghost than in sitting still while Guy drew them. Eventually, they did, after a stern admonition from their mother that she would take them right home without stopping at McDonalds if they didn’t behave.
When he gave her the finished drawings, she handed him a twenty, saying, “Their father will love these. He’s in quarantine in a hotel in New York thanks to a…” She glanced at her kids, who were playing with the animals then whispered angrily, “An asshole at the conference he had to go to who showed up even though he was sick. Turns out it was the virus. These will help keep him sane until it’s safe for him to come home.”
“Keep the money, then,” Guy replied.
