Zheng Tan got off the van when the sky was already beginning to light up dimly.
Because he was so engrossed in his thoughts, Zheng Tan did not pay attention to how long the small van had been running. He had not even expected to be so unlucky.
It just so happened he took a ride that left the city. He was not even sure if this place was still within South City, but judging by the time, he was probably far out of South City already.
All he could see were stretches of forest and fields that extended into the horizon.
The countryside did not seem poor; the residents' houses were rather modern, with only a few retaining the old-style tile houses.
Zheng Tan did not know exactly where on the map this place was, but seeing that many of the residents' houses were two or three-story bungalows, he knew their living conditions were good, which made finding a phone somewhat easier. If it had been a poorer area, chances are a telephone would be hard to come by.
