[V1/C5] TRESPASSERS

Fuming with rage, I was having a hard time thinking when to act. Every street there in this City, especially those in the ruined parts of the City, is riddled with the Children of Rius, going around patrolling for anyone who sneaks in and out in the shade of the dark.

Course, they also lurk in the day, but it's most reassuring to go out in the day when there is a crowd to mix and blend in than in the night, finding some places to hide, but this method does not apply to me because I stick out like a sore thumb wherever I go.

*THUNDER STRIKES*

The noise of the thunder began to sound louder and closer than earlier as if it was just around the block. What is right behind us is just some empty houses, which were also wrecked and evacuated by the common people, fearing that we might infect them with our bad reputation.

The road starting at the front of our house is very much chaotic and the houses is not supposed to be inhabited by humans because of the ghastly and creepiness coming from the woods just 3 blocks away from our house.

Though the forest is connected to somewhere in the City, it's not advisable to go in it because some exalted individuals, from what I've heard, are raising something very suspicious there as to why it's been barricaded by concrete and steel electric wires meant to imprison it.

My head started aching from all the stressful thinking.

At this point, I left the bathroom and picked up the newspaper right below our family picture.

Upon picking up the piece of newspaper, I heard some footsteps, a dozen or more so, as if they were marching right towards our house.

*FOOTSTEPS*

Upon hearing it stop right outside our front door, out of reflex, when I felt something dangerous approaching, I quickly opened the door to my chamber and rashly went to my Mother's bedroom, which is at the other end of the corridor facing the storage room which is right next to my bedroom.

I anxiously made a run for it as soon as I heard a banging sound meant to destroy our door.

*BAM!*

Eventually, as I made it inside my Mother's bedroom, I heard a collapsing sound.

I bravely picked up the dull knife right on top of the small table beside her bed.

Though as I held it with my own two hands, despite my conviction of having my revenge upon my aggressors, my hands just kept trembling which eventually coursed throughout my entire body.

With a heavy breath, I tried to not stray my eyes away from the locked door right in front of me as I heard the creaking sound coming from the opposite side of the door.

'Wasn't our floor made out of concrete...? How is it creaking all the way through here...?'

I tried to look above the ceiling out of curiosity.

As I was turning my head towards the ceiling, a slimy gooey liquid dropped down on my shoulder.

At that time, my face turned completely pale though I still insisted on looking to check what it was.

'What... Is that...?'

My eyes widened in fear and shock as I saw a person right above me with a long spaghetti-like neck wearing a white military uniform.

His hair didn't seem to be swayed by the gravity and was very still as he waved his head.

"Hello~"

His face looked like a ghoul with a giraffe neck that twirls around the place, which made me gulp in fear.

The surprise didn't stop there as I heard another creaking from the door itself, and this time the door was kicked open.

The door eventually was torn and blown away by the strong kick.

A woman appeared; her skin looked rough and tanned, and wearing a black military suit with tattoos all over her right arm, reaching up to her nape. She also has a small mole on her lower left eye. Smoking a cigar, she looked in my direction with a disdainful gaze as if she saw some trash right in front of her. She's also accompanied by 7 others who are wearing the opposite of black, following behind her.

"It's time. Hurry and pack him up and be ready to leave pronto."

Her voice sounds rough and commanding as if she has a much higher status and power than the other 8, who is wearing a white military uniform.

In the heat of the moment, I didn't bother asking and just went in straight for a stab.

"HAAAAAAAAAAAA...!

But what I thought of me moving was just really in my head; in reality, I was stuck there, frozen in place.

'Huh...? Why am I not moving...? Is it because of fear...?'

I deeply questioned myself as I avoided their gaze, looking down at my shaking hands and feet.

Some of those wearing a white military uniform tried to hold their laughter as they saw my shaken-up body.

Some just can't hold their laughter and eventually leak all over the place.

*HAHAHAHAHA*

Their laughter resounded throughout the corridors, which made me tear up for how useless I was; then, right as they were laughing it off, the woman with long half-brown and black dreadlock hair in front of me picked up her gun, which was hanging onto her waist.

The gun was pointed right at the temple of one of her subordinates at the back.

"Hey... Do I look like I came here for laughs?"

The gun she pointed out was ready to take another person's life at any given moment.

"N-no ma'am... W-we apologize..."

The gazes of the people wearing white military uniforms instantly turned into fright.
