The First Day Part 3

As Michael returned to the regular world he rejoined the rest of his classmates while their instructor wrote a few things down and called people over whispering something in their ears. Michael however ignored all that and instead focused on a large blue screen in front of him, something that no one else seem to notice.

[Hello Chosen Hero, I am the World System designed to help the hero grow into a powerful being to face Abaddon and its many minions.]

[So please be prepared for the long journey ahead, and once you are ready call out "system" and I'll respond immediately have a nice day :)]

Then it disappeared and he was greeted with a large pile of various wooden weapons, mostly bladed or swords of some kind but of all shapes and variety. The instructor looked up from their clipboard and spoke directly to the class.

"We have a variety of wooden weapons available for use, and unfortunately since this is a sword class we only allow the use of bladed or a wide variety of swords available for use, of course, you can also keep the one you have currently either one is fine."

They all went forward picking up a large variety of weapons, with the person who went to the stone first picking two medium size curved dual blades. They tested them out, getting a feel for them all except for Michael who kept his regular wooden sword. Slowly they all got back together and the instructor picked up a wooden long sword tossing it from one hand to another.

"So we're going to do a very basic form of the "Phoneix Dance" which can be used for blades of all types including large broadswords so please pay attention."

He began with a simple downward slash and then proceeded to a fast upward slash that followed up with a forward stab.

"Please copy my movements and get a feel for the sword while you're at it, it might not be your real weapon but knowing the feel and weight of the weapon can really help."

The others started following suit, easily getting the first move easily but when it came to the speed of the second movements that's where a few were lacking as the heavier sword users struggle to get the speed right and others were too fast. Michael followed the movements as well, messing up a few times same as the rest but eventually, he got it right.

"Now for the next move, I want you to pay close attention to my wrist, hand movement can determine how powerful your strike is or the position your blade is in so please pay attention."

He went through the first movements again, but at the stab, he readjusted it and turned it into a wide slash motion, after it he shifted his wrist to point his blade downward and then went for a large upward slash that blew a small bit of grass off the ground. He went into a relaxed position with his blade resting easily in his right hand.

"Your turn."

A few of the dual-blade users had trouble following his movements, while the broadsword users couldn't do the wrist movement fast enough. Others who simply had thinner, longer, or normal wooden swords they have no trouble mimicking the movements including Michael. Once everyone was done, a few of the dual-wielders and broadsword users had angry looks on their faces and were staring directly at the instructor.

"For our next lesson, I want you to try and adapt your own set of movements to properly compliment your blade or blades in some cases."

Hearing that the people with angry looks shot up and began practicing, trying to come up with new movements. The broadsword users used the same wide sweep motion but instead of pointing their blade downward they put it at an angle and went for an upward diagonal slash a few of them went for a regular downward strike while others went for a wide slash from the other side. Of course, this took a little bit, same for the dual-blade users who did two wide slashes using both blades. Then they let the blade point downward and went for the upward slash, but followed it up with a quick straight stab from the other one.

Michael watched the others, with some simply practicing the standard motions and others trying to adapt different movements to it. Micahel however stared at his blade and began practicing makings sure had all the movements down. He kept practicing it as long as his instructor would allow him. Trying to remember all the movements and get the basics of it down before trying anything else. Over time, as the others got their moves adapted into the "Phoneix Dance" Michael, was able to get the basics moves down but not perfectly.

"Alright that's enough, it's time to put these moves to the test, after if they can't be used properly in battle then what's the point of learning."

Then he drew out his wooden longsword and got ready for battle.

"So who's first?"

The students looked at one another each with a nervous expression with some shaking a tiny bit. Then one of the broadsword users, an unusually large Draconic folk stepped forward with a nervous expression on his face and got ready. they both stood waiting for the other to strike first, but unsurprisingly it was the draconic fol who went ahead. He started off with a standard downward slash which the instructor sidestepped. The instructor then did a wide slash from the other direction, which made caused the large draconic folk to wince in pain. He then followed up with a quick upward slash and then slash downward making the draconic folk fall to the ground.

The instructor then entered a resting position allowing the draconic folk to get back up and rejoin the group.

"Now can anyone tell me where he went wrong with his attack?"

No one said anything, earning a glare from the instructor.

"Well I guess newbies are still newbies ok here's where he went wrong."
