The Arena Part 6

Both their blades clashed, with Angus's greatsword slowly gaining the advantage and pushing the knight back. Once more his mana started eating away at his opponents, adding more to his strength and forming an unstable half circle. But he ignored this choosing to concentrate on the battle putting more strength into his sword. The knight struggled and tried pouring more of their mana into, trying to absorb the blow. Eventually, they changed tactics choosing to let the greatsword charge forward, and they sidestepped and lifted their sword in the air going for a downward slash. Angus saw this and smiled and turned his greatsword over and created a gust of wind to help him change directions.

Swiping his blade, the knight was able to move back but was still cut and had a bit of red blood flowing down. Angus looked at the knight's face and could tell they were angry and held their blade with both hands pouring all of their mana into it. Angus saw this and readied his blade preparing himself for whatever is to come. The knight's blade burst into blue flames that almost mimicked the knigths own rage. They charged forward going for a right side strike, and more flames burst out growing bigger. Angus responds by surrounding his greatsword with wind hoping to counter the knight's flames. They clashed once more and the flames/winds clashed sending out embers into the battlefield.

The flames slowly started dying down with Angus's greatsword coming closer and him gaining more ground. The knight tried pushing him back but found themselves tweaking slowly and eventually slumped to the ground and they could feel their blade breaking. They tried once more to push Angus back but the blade shattered and the greatsword slashed across them nearly taking their arm if not for the protective barrier knocking them out and stopping the strike.

He stared down at his fallen opponent, at those around him, and smiled raising his hand in victory. This would be his first major victory, the first victory of Angus.

"No, it's the first major victory of the Wind Demon."

In Abaddon's realm, he smiled looking down upon his champion and his little declaration.

"Yes bathe in the spotlight, enjoy the attention, it will all be worth it once you absorb the despair they'll feel knowing their champion is the first apostle under Abaddon."

Years after this battle, people told tales of Angus's struggles and victories as he rose through the league ranks. He eventually went from E-league to A-league and eventually created an entirely different league altogether S-league, the top of the top. A place where the most powerful warriors in existence can go to fight without restraint. He even managed to break through to the 10th circle becoming equivalent to a top-tier archmage.

The children grew up and eventually went to actually school, taking up various professions. Some became merchants, others teachers, and a few of them even became warriors and mages themselves. Rose and Agnus grew closer as time went on, and eventually, he confessed his love for her and they went on many dates afterward growing closer and closer. Till the day came he went on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage, and they lived happily together for another 10 years.

2 years since that day Angus met "Hercules" passed and he sat outside looking up at the sky in front of a massive house with various flowers spread before him. The full moon and stars stared down at him and he waited hoping for some sign of "Hercules" once more. Then he saw it a black smoke seeped around him, forming the same figure he saw all those years ago.

"Well, it's good to see my champion has been living well all these years but I thought you would've reached 11 circles by now, but no matter."

"So are you satisfied is the life I promised you everything you desired?"

Angus looked at him with a satisfied smile on his face and nodded looking up at the sky. "Hercules" smiled swirling around him revealing the now heavily purple mana, that almost had no trace of blue left. They smiled and tore a bit of themselves off adding it to the stockpile of mana.

"Don't worry my payment will come soon and please enjoy tonight for every day is a gift."

Then "Hercules" disappeared leaving a smiling Angus who didn't suspect a thing looking up at the beautiful stars. Eventually, the next day came and the sun shone on a sleeping Angus who was still outside with the same smile on his face. The door behind him opened and a much older Rose stepped out with a small baby in hand going over to wake up Angus. She shook his shoulder and he woke up with a yan getting up, hugging Rose who blushed in response.

"Dear calm down, I'm holding the baby."

He let her go bending down to see his child and smiled wiggling his finger in front of them who instinctively grabbed it. Angus chuckled and simply looked at them both, feeling endless joy at the life he was able to obtain. The lives bettered because of his benefactor "Hercules" and he cried a sing tear that went unnoticed by all even Angus himself. They went inside where a nice breakfast awaited them, and Rose sat their baby down helping them eat while Angus sat across from them beginning to eat himself. They began talking about various things and Rose eventually brought up the idea of vacation at this Angus frowned a bit looking over at his resting greatsword. Then he smiled and looked at Rose.

"I'm thinking of retiring from the arena."

Rose dropped the spoon she was using to feed their baby and looked at Angus with a shocked and confused expression. She quickly went to pick it up and used some water to wipe it off and make sure it was clean.

"Are you sure about this, I know you sued to do this for the money but I was able to catch one or two of your fights and I saw you enjoying each and every one of them?"

Angus looked at her eyes and smiled nodding yes in response.

"Yes, I'm sure honey."
